Great SE spot with online reservations for brunch! Food and drink tasty and service friendly. Def coming back.
Dont know how it is on a normal day but for Valentines day I took my gf out for Dinner. Was expecting a good to great meal. I can not say anything we ate was of value of anything close. There was very few options for the evening. Nothing was "amazing" or unique. Just felt like a restaurant taking advantage of people cause of Valentines day. If you charge people over $65 per person, Id expect you to be full of that meal especially if it comes with dessert. But neither me or my gf was satisfied. We ended up going to safeway after and getting more food/dessert right after..
Food was very salty!
PROS: ambiance was nice (think more like a cafe than a restaurant). Service was very good. Bone marrow tartar is worth getting again.
CONS: Duck appetizer was way off balance - huge hunk of goat cheese and 4 tiny slivers of duck. Mussels were tasty, broth lacked complexity and was too salty. Pasta entre was terrible - 1 star. The sauce was overwhelming, thick, and simply not very good. The flank steak was maybe 3 stars. The french fries were drenched in salt and mostly inedible. Overall, for my wife's birthday dinner, mostly disappointed.
Grandma wanted to have steak and fries, and La Moule met the bill with aplomb: steak was perfectly cooked, fries were crisp and tasty. We also had the oysters (excellent), brussels sprouts (tasty), and butter lettuce salad (the Dijon vinaigrette was very good). We will gladly return the next time we're in the mood for steak frites.
La Moule never disappoints. The mussels are handpicked. The different broth bases go perfect with mussels.
I love the butter lettuce salad with its tarragon dressing. A Must!
La Moule is perfect for a Sunday brunch with friends and an outstanding restaurant to go for dinner. The entire staff is always attentive with great service. I love sitting at the counter and watch the chefs cook the delicious food La Moule is known. Great atmosphere.
All good. Usually don't like "high end" burgers, but this one was terrific.
A true gem amongst brunch spots in Portland. The food is delicious, cocktails fantastic, and there is never a wait for a table!
Was a bit disappointed...had a great experience last Sunday for a friend’s bday dinner. So had brought my parents to experience today. Had to send back an order of mussels for being too salty. When it came back, it tasted totally different than last week’s same order. Service was great but it didn’t leave a great impression for my folks. :(
NYE prix fixe menu with three options for starters and entrees and two options for dessert. Plus a few other seafood options available. Two of the starters (celeriac strangeness and a mussel something) were bland and simply did not taste good. The entree’s were fine but not great. Dessert also not very good - chocolate torte that tasted several days old. A special crudo scallop dish was also not great. Our server rushed us but then was not clearing our table or taking our wine orders. Very disappointing for the money we spent.
This was our first visit and it was outstanding - we can't wait to go back. The food was delicious and innovative. The drinks were perfect. The service was excellent and we especially liked that the wait staff dressed for New Year. We believe it contributed to the special vibe of the evening. All of the employees were happy, friendly and striving to make everyone's evening special. This was such a welcome surprise for us because so many places have food that is good but the staff does not seem like they care. Thank you, La Moule, for giving us a New Year's Eve to remember! we will see you again soon.
My husband and I dined at La Moule last summer and had such a great meal that we decided to do their pre fixe offering for New Year's Eve. We expected more (and better choices) than what was on the menu, and what we did choose was disappointing -- cold and forgettable. Further, it is La Moule but there were no mussels on the menu (just some chopped into an appetizer). Not what we were expecting, very expensive, and we won't be going back.
Food was delicious and service was timely. Great place to celebrate a birthday!
I thought that the atmosphere and service was great. Our waiter was very kind and attended to us swiftly. My only gripe was that the steak and fries were over salted, albeit the steak was cooked exactly to my specs. Otherwise it was a good meal.
Good and service is amazing? Also, the cocktails are wonderful!!
I wanted to eat oysters and mussels with some fries in broth and this was the perfect place to find that. A buddy who joined me for the meal said it reminded him of traveling in Normandy where they serve giant bowls of steamed mussels in broth with bread for dipping. We ate all of that and it was awesome.
Enjoyed some wine and their amazing french fries at a small table. The food and wine are of course wonderfully selected there. The main issue was that it was incredibly noisy and we had trouble hearing each other. That definitely didn’t set the ambience for a date very nicely. Our server was visibly disappointed that we didn’t want to eat a full meal but I understand that element of it.
I usually like this place but this time, I've been very disappointed by the cheese board. actually, the pieces of cheese get smaller and smaller. $14 for 3 small pieces + mustard and preserve is not a good deal
Wonderful daily fish!
Staff was friendly and attentive. The food was fresh and well prepared. It was our anniversary, and we were comped a glass of bubbly. This was a very unexpected treat. I loved the Korean style mussels.
Previous visits were Outstanding, this was off from the very beginning, Our server was good and the bartender was outstanding! Unfortunately the food was off on every single dish from the beignets thru to the french toast and on to the eggs benedict ( egg benedict). It wasn't hard to see the change from the New Orleans featured brunch dishes which were truly spectacular to this remarkable hohum rendition of Brunch!
Great little restaurant! Delicious food, great service!
LOVE this place! Super yummy, great cocktails and beautiful interior!
We had a wonderful Sunday brunch. The meals were terrific and so was our server. Great spot can't wait to go back again!
Really nice night out with excellent food. We sat right next to the door so was a bit chilly, but the food was hot and delicious! The steak and mussels were noteworthy in a town that had a ton of competition. We will be back!
Positives: I was able to book a table for 6 last minute and I loved the beautiful wallpaper and ambiance
Negatives: The waitress messed up on our drinks a couple different times but we were a table of 6 and I realize it could've been confusing. The mussels that they are known for tasted extremely fishy not like other places I've been before. The butter lettuce salad had no flavor at all.
Great ambiance and delicious drinks!
Sauce on the fish special was very salty, otherwise a wonderful experience!
Fantastic! Delicious meal, great service, and the happy hour menu is on point.
Great food and fun service. One of our favorite places in the neighborhood.
I've come here a couple of times with my girlfriend and we are never disappointed. From the service to the atmosphere it's amazing all around. The staff is very kind and quick. The food is absolutely amazing, everything we ordered we couldn't stop raving about.
Definitely my favorite new Portland restaurant. Beside four varieties of exquisitely prepared muscles, delicious salads, incredible deserts, fine absinth and a well round full bar, Le Moule also offered a soundtrack of stellar music from the mid 70’s to mid-80’s (Bowie, Iggy, Velvet Underground, etc.) and the ambience is warm and delightful. The wait staff is attentive and accommodating. Be sure to make reservation and prepare yourselves for fluffy tender tasty clouds of goodness. Absolutely delicious.
Great food, good wine, attentive service, inviting ambiance. Excellent value. What could be better?!
I have a new favorite restaurant. I've visited twice; first with friends who had discovered it earlier, then as a special night out with family. It was almost perfect except for the high noise level, but that won't stop me from going back!
We arrived to our reservation at 9:30pm and ordered the cheese plates and two drinks. The cheese plate had about 3 tiny pieces of cheese and a small side of jam. It was extremely small for the price. I would definitely not recommend. The table next to use knew the chef and ordered the same item but received much more on their plate. We then ordered the mussels which were a very large portion on the plus side but we didn’t received them for an hour and a half. There were barely any customers so I am unsure what took so long but In the end it Was an $80 bill for 4 drinks, one appetizer and one dish. And it took almost 2 hours to received almost all our dishes.
On a good note, our waiter and servers were very polite and attentive. They were great.
I would not recommend this restaurant and do not plan to go back and that is just by my own experience.
We had a fun and tasty time with two moms and three adventurous-eating kids. Everything was delicious and service was prompt.
Great food. Great cocktails
It was perfect. Quality of food superb- the only strangeness was that two senior citizens were making out for an hour at the bar behind us and it was distasteful while seated within 6 feet of them. Wish maybe the bartender cut them off as they were clearly drunk and needed to move along.
Food was fantastic and the service was great. My wife and I both had the mussels (of course) and they were far and away the best I have ever had. Mussels had a soft and silky texture with a killer broth. The little baguette that came with had a nice contrasting crunch and sopped up the juice well. They did manage to send us the wrong side (the bok choy instead of the sprouts) but they quickly remedied that and gave us the bok choy. No one is perfect but the made it right quickly and we were happy because the bok choy was just as good as the amazing burssles sprouts. I highly recommend.
Amazing food, not pretentious. Not a huge menu, great quality, delicious food, nice selection of wines by the glass. I ordered the muscles, and approximately 2 dozen of perfectly steamed muscles arrived in a bowl of broth of wine, butter and herbs. Each was the size of half-scoop of ice cream. Accompanied by a wedge of artisan-baked baguette. Likely the best muscles I’ve ever eaten. The waitstaff are all about hospitality and genuinely cared about my experience. Awesome!
