La Mar Cebicheria Peruana
Very expensive and extremely small dishes
The food is fantastic and the location is wonderful. Jaquelin is the best server and I would ask for her always. Very sweet, kind, and just made you feel welcomed.
Excellent food and cocktails. Seafood, meat, and vegetarian dishes. The Volcan and Pisco Sour cocktails are must-haves!
I thought the service was poor. I felt I was being rush by the waitress for most of the evening.
You will not regret eating here! Food is amazing.
Waitperson had absolutely no personality, acted as if he would rather be at a tax audit. Both main entries were no better than what you might find at a typical Mexican restaurant in Oakland. Very expensive for what you get. 5 1/2 % employer mandate ??? . They should offer a 10% customer mandate for eating there.
Great for a first date ... great food and service provided
Food was excellent and loved the ambiance. Only issue was I ordered a prickly pear margarita well before ordering our food and waiter obviously forgot to put in my drink order. Everyone else received drinks before the meal arrived. My drink finally arrived when I was almost finished with my meal (so about 45-60 min after ordering it), however the waiter did not take it off the bill for taking so long. Most waiters would have easily comped it in the name of good service.
It was great amazing food
Delicious seafood and fresh ingredients !! Great service too!
Food is out this world delicious and never disappoints
I used to come here all the time for groups and special occasions. When making the reservation for six, I had to put down my credit card which is discouraging but I trusted they would have a table for us. I called 30 minutes before we were coming to let them know so we can go right to the table but they did not have a table waiting for us and we had to wait. They did not even have the option to eat outside when there was a big empty table that just sat there the entire time we ate inside. The hostess was a space cadet, our server was never there, and the food we ordered never came out. The ceviche was warm, the fried food was cold, and the bus boy seemed to be doing all the work for us. On top of that the wine pours were so inconsistent that we laughed each time we ordered a glass of wine because we would bet on the level. I was embarrassed I chose La Mar for guests who came from out of town. We were celebrating two engagements and nobody came by to congratulate us. Sadly, La Mar is not even on the list of places I would take guests or future special occasions anymore.
The nigiri special was outstanding
Always like the pulpo.
The dishes that we ordered were all so flavorful and prepared perfectly! Also - the desserts looked delicious and we will look forward to trying one or two on our next visit!
As usual the food is phenomenal. The cebiche tasting is beyond words. Such unique flavors together, with an amazing Causa afterwards. Great food, location, view, and service. Salud!
Celebrating birthday. Fantastic time. Amanda our server was outstanding. We will definitely be back.
We got the experience la mar , being honest we just like a couple of items , but overall it was ok, we paid around 280 for 2 including taxes and tips , witch I consider was expensive for what we got!
The plates were nothing special
Amazing food and amazing value!
We had the best time! We came for the Pisco Brunch and loved the whole affair -- food, music, dancing.
The food was incredible in both flavor and presentation. Wait staff was impeccable in their service.
very creative menu, excellent wait staff, nice Bay views...and of course Piscos!!
BTW, have the dessert sampler....dammnnn!!
Authentic Peruvian cuisine with service staff who provide helpful information and excellent guidance to enhance the dining experience.
La Mar never disappoints. This is the most authentic Peruvian food and flavors available in the Bay Area. I’m happy to see they continue to be consistent with the quality of food and service.
I have been to Le Mar a few times at this point. I am going to go down the list. The food as always is really good. My girlfriend and I ordered the Lomo Saltado, the scallops, and the california ceviche. The ceviche is delicious and I highly recommend it. The saltado has a great spice and glaze on top of it. The scallops were good, but have definitely had better especially for the value. The ambiance is nice but the lights were flickering which was a little distracting for my beautiful date. I think my biggest bone to pick is value. Prices have definitely gone up in the last few years. We ordered 4 drinks, ceviche, lomo saltado, and scallops which ended up being around 200 dollars. I am fine paying 200 dollars, but I this meal should have been closer to 100 dollars. This is being priced close to Michelin star restaurant level without that level of cooking and service.
From the moment we walked in the door, the staff mad exert that we had an excellent experience. The service was perfect; an ideal combination of attentiveness and friendliness without being intrusive or doting.
The food was amazing. Incredible, rich flavors and depth without being fussy or gimmicky.
I normally eat here for lunch, but took my wife for dinner before a show. It was perfect and she loved it. Can’t wait to go again.
We have been coming for years and every time food is better than ever. Nothing quite like it. Thanks
The food is always amazing; I particularly recommend the beef empanadas (you can take them as starter and share). Save room for desert, definitely, and start your lunch/dinner with a cocktail: I tasted a few and they were very delicate, not to sweet.
It was good St. Valentines dinner, but a little overpriced.
We were celebrating an anniversary with friends from Paris. The four of us really enjoyed the ambiance, the food was excellent, the price was good and the server (Enrique) was friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend La Mar Cebicheria Peruana.
FANTASTIC PISCO SOURS! ❤️🇵🇪
I went to La Mar for Valentine’s Day. The food was delicious, however when I made the reservation I was not told there would be a pre fixe menu. I went in thinking we could order off the main menu and was not aware of the price we would be having to pay at the end of this. They need to advertise it’s an $85 per person pre fixe menu when making a reservation.
Was surprised to find that it was a prefix menu and that each person at the table was mandated to order and pay for the pre-fixed items, even though it was a lot of food between a party of four and we wanted to share three instead of four. The service was also very slow and not attentive, probably because it was already automatic gratuity added to the bill. Overall the experience was not what I was hoping it would be, as it was my first time at Le Mar. I will not return.
Food review: seviche was basically a bowl of red onions in a cream sauce and my short ribs were dry and overcooked.
What a trip to be here on Valentine’s Day. The ambiance was really nice. The staff was on top of any request we had. Food was delicious. And they made a big effort to cater to a vegan diet. Highly recommend this location.
Muy bonito únicamente bastante caro
Great food...Executive lunch was just the right balance of flavor and serving size!
The cebiche continues to be good but we did not enjoy as much the causas, empanadas nor dessert.
Service was just ok. The ratio waiter to tables is big so you keep looking for your waiter continuously.
We order a bottle of champagne and they put the bottle away from our table because they did not have enough “coolers” / ice buckets. so it was bothersome to keep asking the waiter for wine.
Any way, the overall experience at La Mar was average at the most.
Great food. Great service. Awesome views of water. Overall really great experience always. Been here multiple times when on business travel. Thank you
The food was outstanding and I'd highly recommend the octopus skewer---delicious! Our waiter was adorable and suggested it and it was outstanding.
