I'm a bit biased, since I've been friends with Anthony Punnett since 1977. We've ben twice since it opened, and have enjoyed ourselves immensely. Food is delicious, same with the wines. Anthony is the consummate host, and well, if you know the guy you'll know why. Going back next week. Best thing to happen in the village for a while. Keep up the excellent work!

So happy to have a great new option in SH. Still working out some very minor kinks in the system but overall, clearly a good start for a veteran establishment. The outdoor seating is a great option as the main room, while beautiful, is very loud (and at half full when we walked through at the end of the evening). The menu is limited to French greatest hits but hoping that will expand as the kitchen gains confidence. Regardless, the food was excellent and beautifully presented. Staff was well trained and really friendly which added to a festive 4th weekend. The host was gregarious and friendly and made unnecessary apologies for small foibles of opening weekend. Best of luck for the rest of the season. I think we’re all happy to see something new in a location that begs to be occupied.

LGSM just opened this week. One expects a few glitches in service at any newly opened spot. In this case, the restaurant was simply not ready for "prime time". I say that in full recognition of M. DeNoyer's estimable and well-deserved reputation. The original La Goulue at 28 East 70th was one of my favorite regular haunts in the 1980s and early 90s. And commendably, its successors on the Upper East Side have lived up, to an uncommon degree, to the high standard set by the original. The Palm Beach edition does, as well, with the caveat that the noise level is unkind, particularly given the number of patrons who haven't been young for many decades. LGSM' is in the old Redbar space, where we were regular diners for more than a decade. That space has always been quite loud -- something to do with the ceilings and floors. Last night, it was deafening. If that had been the only problem, I'd have cheerfully expected to give it 4 stars. It was not to be. The service and the food were comically bad. My appetizer arrived about 45 minutes after we ordered, but my wife's salad did not -- only then did we learn that it would not arrive at all, for they had run out of lettuce. I ordered a martini "with nothing in it, no garnish, no olives, no vermouth". It arrived, quite some time later, with a submerged twist. My tournedos, ordered medium rare, were overcooked to something beyond well done, accompanied by cold pommes puree. The replacement beef, though cooked to the correct temperature, was tough and tasteless, with a dismal Bordelaise. (The potatoes had warmed up to perhaps room temperature.) There is superb tenderloin on offer from at least three different butchers within a mile radius of LGSM; there's no excuse for serving lousy beef. My wife's steak frites was dreadful and went uneaten. The frites were poor -- MacDonalds' are vastly superior, and warmer. La Goulue is a splendid marque. LGSM, at present, is a stain upon it.

This was a fun and incredibly delicious experience. Upscale but cozy restaurant with the same great food as its NYC namesake. Loved it

If we had known this was their opening night, we would have waited until they had a few weeks to work out the kinks. Our waiter was very nice, the kitchen was having a hard time keeping up to the packed dining room. The people sitting next to us walked out. It was chaotic!
