I love this place. We are regulars and go for every special romantic occasion. Linda is the best server! So friendly. I recommend the rack of lamb and the prawns.
Love the new alley outside. Lights. Music. Dinner with friends was wonderful. Key lime pie the best
Enjoyed the ambiance! Flowers on tables, brick walls, safely spaced tables outside. Felt like Paris.
Very lovely place. We enjoyed dinning outdoors.
Hope you keep it. We each ordered the duck and it was very good. Service excellent too.
As always, the service was impeccable and the food was wonderful...outdoor ambience could not have been better...the reason we keep coming back!
SORRY to say the Last 3 times at La Gare’s the Entrees have been VERY DISAPPOINTING:( The Soup is Always Delicious and the SERVICE IS very Good but the Main Course is either Overcooked or Absolutely No Flavor-Don’t know what happened to the QUALITY of the food-SAD
If you have not been to La Gare it is a must!! Over forty years and still perfect.
My filet mignon was perfectly cooked.Everything was delicious! And the service was excellent as usual!
This place is so great and so tasty! I love the cute little Aly they have set up for dinning outside. I felt safe and comfortable and the service was so great.
Food was excellent, the service great, we love coming here and will return soon!
Everything is outstanding, food cooked to perfection, service was impeccable.
Our meal was excellent, as usual! The service was excellent.
So wonderful! Food was excellent and the employees were all SO nice. Looking forward to going back!
Amazing French food, wine and staff.
We loved our first dining experience at La Gare. The waiter made some great recommendations and tried to tailor his recommendations to our preferences/taste. Everyone was warm and welcoming. I had the Dijonnaise Veal and my boyfriend had the chicken. Overall, very good. We only gave 4 stars because we both had our eye on the duck and were bummed to discover that they were sold out for that day. Looking forward to trying their duck in the future!!
In the times of COVID-19, and the work it takes for a restaurant to reopen safely, La Gare has certainly done it right. The outdoor alleyway where they have created an extension of their dining room, with well-spaced tables was well thought out, and absolutely perfect on a warm summer evening. The service, as always, is personable, and top notch. The food - well, what could be wrong there? All members of my party enjoyed the special (an unctuous salmon with a lemon butter sauce), even though we were stuffed by the time it hit the table. Their accompanying starters of potato leek soup, and salad with a world-class dressing, were just the right amount of filling. While the hearty rolls, served with their compliments, were what put me over the edge. In the best way, of course! It's become our favorite go-to restaurant for special occasions, though really, it's just ideal for a memorable meal on any evening.
Amazing food and friendly servers. David was fantastic, making for a truly enjoyable dinner. They’ve done social-distancing just right: responsibly while still allowing you to have a very pleasant evening.
Wonderful food and service. The Beef Wellington and Frog Legs were unique dishes that had generous portions, great taste, and reasonable price point. I was getting cold in the outdoor dining area since the wind was picking up and the manager kindly offered me her scarf. 10/10 would go again, but bring a jacket.
This is such a special place. The atmosphere, the food and the service separate it from any other restaurant. It has been our favorite for years. We love the courses that come with every meal!
Very attentive service and a wonderful meal. We moved away and have just moved back to SR. great meal.
Great place! Family oriented with great food. Always look forward to going back.
Consistently great food with wonderful service. Love the new seating in the alley under the sails and cafe lights. Felt very safe.
So great to go to La Gare again. It was a wonderful experience per usual .
This place is legit! I've been 3 times and would say its a 5 star rating every time.
So glad they created a patio in the Alley! It was lovely. We were passing through Santa Rosa and so glad we stumbled on this longtime family owned business! Food and service was amazing.
The salad and soup were good but not amazing. The halibut special with rice and veggies was amazing and the appetizers (prawns and crab cakes) were really good, along with the bottle of J Bucher Pinot we had. We will definitely be back!
As always, a charming restaurant in the Old School fashion. Traditional dishes, well-prepared, and even table-side service of Caesar salad and the very fun Cherries Jubilee. Highly recommended.
6 of us celebrated a birthday dinner during Sonoma County restaurant week. The courses were nicely paced and the food delicious; we all belong to the clean plate club! The servers were wonderfully courteous and our waiter outstanding.
Went for restaurant week and all I can say is WOW! Excellent value, excellent food, and excellent service. Highly recommend.
It is always a delicious dinner
We went to La Gare because of restaurant week but we decided to order off of the regular menu. We had not gone to La Gare for years we had forgotten how great everything was. We will certainly be back!
What a great evening! My wife and I have eaten in many, many excellent restaurants and this is one of the best. A family business for 40 years, Jackie, the owner, is second generation and her son is La Gare's suburb chef. The heritage is Swiss/French and the sauces, as you would expect, are excellent. The owners and staff have long and deep ties to the area vineyards and intimately know their wines. David, our waiter, introduced us to absolutely wonderful Italian Amarone process wines made in Sonoma by Fabiano Ramaci the owner of nearby Mora Estate. Go, spend an evening at La Gare, you will not be disappointed. Prices are moderate.
Nice evening out. Excellent food and the service was even better!!
Delicious food, outstanding service! Two in our party had food allergies. La Gare was gracious and helpful. We had a lovely meal.
The experience was fantastic we went for restaurant week and enjoyed ourselves immensely
Nothing at all to write home about. Friendly service...but a long lag time between the salad and main course (and they got my salad wrong). I had the braised duck. Chewy, tough, didn't finish it. The vegetables were on par with what you'd expect at Denny's. My wife's salmon, however, was tender. What happened to the braised duck? Probably too high a temperature braising, toughens it.
Overall dull food experience. As soon as we walked out the door, my wife turned to me and said "Next time we want French food, could we PLEASE go to Bistro 32??" Absolutely.
Went to enjoy La Gare's Restaurant Week special. My wife ordered the wild king salmon and was very happy, but my medium-rare steak was more like medium. Also, even though we were an early seating and they were only half full, it took quite awhile for our waiter to show up - my wife flagged down another waiter to get a glass of wine while we waited! We've been La Gare fans for over 35 years, but this was one of our least favorite evenings. I still think the restaurant is great, and don't hesitate to refer others, but hope the experience is not repeated.
La Gare is always great!
It was very crowded and the wait staff was shorted, but they definitely have the best value out there for restaurant week.
La Gar id always top notch. We like to go for special occasions. The salmon was cooked to perfection. The wait staff was excellent.
We have been going to La Gare for years and have never been disappointed. Friendly. competent staff and great food.
