Our server was very attentive and the food was very good. We had ceviche, empanadas and the pompano. It was all delicious.
Happy to just out, good was great, server was friendly and suggested great food. Overall loved it and would go back at any time.
Friendly staff and food is delicious.
We went Cinco de Mayo and the restaurant was very accommodating. The staff was pleasant and offered us hand sanitizer. The tables were labeled to ensure that safety protocols were followed.
Great and very consistent food, friendly atmosphere and the owner was there to make sure we had a great time
The food was amazing. The owner was great, he brought over several dishes that he recommended and I liked all of them. The bartender Angela was friendly and very professional, she can make great cocktails. I am looking forward to returning.
The staff was slammed even though the restaurant was not packed. Photos look great and food descriptions are good, but the meal was less than satisfying. A tamale was just a big blob of dough and the seafood 'soup' was a broth with ingredients still in their shells (how do you pull a crab out to shell it at the table?) . At least the restaurant didn't charge for the untouched soup. Music was way too loud drowning out any attempt at a conversation. Sigh.....
Mexican soul food with emphasis on seafood, unique and delicious. Initial service was good but entrees took a while and we got someone else's credit card (neighboring table...we just swapped). I will return as their food is so great, price range is good, and it's close to the theaters.
Great food, waitress accidentally spilt tray of drinks, got all over my coat and purse, but accidents happen. It was OK. Would go back.
Food does not taste as good as it just to be when they were close to I-10.
Drinks are still well mixed. Service is good too.
Bar was great. Enjoyed Antonio the bartender.
Had made reservations for6:00. They tried to seat us right at the entry by all the foot traffic coming in. Asked for different table, put us as far in back as they could, where we were almost forgotten.
Quacamole appetizer was very good. Salads came out with entree, so didn’t get to enjoy that since entree was getting cold
Food was ok nothing special. We had 3 people at a tabletop, it was so small we hardly had room for plates and drinks.
Had seen a lot of good reviews, but it was just an ok dining experience.
We got there early, 5:30 so seated immediately. It was still quiet. Got our drinks fast and the were fantastic. Ordered appetizers, got the trio ceviche and the guacamole. Both were excellent. The ceviche was very fresh and bright with all the citrus flavors. Guacamole was a perfect mix and seasoned well, I loved the fried pork rinds in it. It was an unexpected and very pleasant flavor combination. We shared the chef’s special red snapper. It was a huge slab of the best and freshest tasting fish I’ve had in a long time. We got it grilled, with the sides it was more than we could finish. We did eat all the fish though. I would absolutely recommend and will definitely go back.
Food is really great , from Apps to although the dishes have varied since the original chef left,
Romantic Valentines Day dinner for our first time eating at La Fisheria. I had sampled the food before as a news photographer so I already knew what to expect. The food we selected from the specially prepared menu was fantastic! Ceviche, empanadas, shrimp tamales and chocolate cake were superb! We even tried the special mixed drinks featured and those were good, as well. Romantic music was played nearby that wasn’t overbearing or too loud to talk over. The ambience was perfect and the service exceptional. We had a room booked at Hotel ICON with dancing and drinks at Etro Lounge. With everything in walking distance, it turned out to be a perfect evening! We will definitely be back to explore more of the menu at La Fisheria!
Took a while to get served in spite of light traffic. Food was very good tasting and satisfying once it came.
Would have preferred thicker tortilla chips for substantive guacamole, instead of very thin ones that easily broke!
You serve handmade tortillas only 3 small ones with an $80 plate for 2; that is okay, but $3 up charge for extra tortillas; came across as chintzy and cheap! Irritating!
Happy hour until 6:00 p.m. advertised on signs posted at entrance was not honored! Bad impression for 1st time diners here.
Music did not go with visit on Valentine's Day OR with restaurant food and ambience.
All told and in spite of shortcomings would give this place another chance!
We always enjoy going to La Fisheria! Great service and food! Look forward to dining there again!
The catch of the day and the sautéed shrimp were disappointing, but the vuelve a la vida, ceviche, and salsa were excellent. Also, nobody liked the Mexican mules. Service was excellent.
Great food in this brightly colored place! Went with some friends to celebrate a birthday and we pretty much ordered the same thing. The mojitos were very good. The poblano dip was very creamy and surprisingly green but so bomb! Ok so let’s talk calamari! The rings were so soft and the panko batter was seasoned to perfection! The crunch was superb! The shrimp empanadas were so wonderful packed with large pieces of shrimp. I think they were on a spread of black beans and topped with a mixed green salad! The tamale was so good y’all! The corn was so sweet but the shrimp and ground pork provided a savory aspect to it. It had to be my favorite dish from there. We got there late and it was closing and they stayed until we did and gave us a round of FREE SHOTS! Definitely a great time. I will be back to try more. Thank you so much for the experience!
Wide selection of seafood dishes. Good value, efficient friendly service. Especially good for pre-show dinner.
My husband and I came here for the first time on a Friday evening, and had a great time. The food was delicious, the margaritas were great, and the service was fantastic. Antonio, Linda, and Diana were on top of getting food and drinks to us without long wait times, and were entertaining as well. Chris actually did all of the artwork in the restaurant, which is so cool. I will go back there again, and strongly recommend it!
La Fisheria is in a great area of old downtown Houston. Many bars and other point of interest within easy walking distance. Stopped by for drinks - very tart margaritas - and had some of the queso fondue - excellent. Will come back for a full dinner soon. Expected a more vibrant scene, but it was early on a Friday.
The food was excellent. A very nice dining experience. The waitstaff was very pleasant but the only thing that could be improved upon was more frequent visits to check on refills etc. I will go again as the overall experience was well worth it. Highly recommended
The food and service were great.
Great food with truly mexican flavor and wonderful service
This was our first time at La Fisheria. The food was very good, service was excellent and the ambience was greatly helped by the really spectacular artistic displays done by one of the staff. Overall, a very good experience. We will certainly be back in the future.
I would recommend the restaurant, but there are some things to bear in mind when ordering. Ask about how the dish is served. For example, the Mojarra Frita, which I ordered for my 11 year old, was the WHOLE (head to tail, scales and all). My son was so wigged out, that he ate very little after I tried to remove the spines. The special was a 2 lb Redfish (for 2), which was ok, as it was also served WHOLE and warm. The only way to eat it at times was to use use fingers, which is fine, but not when you're wearing nice clothes.
Manage the customers' expectations, by letting then know what to expect before they commit to the order.
Service was fair, because some of dishes were served nearly 10 minutes later than others, after asking the staff why it was taking so long. Water and tea glasses were slow to be filled and had to ask the waitstaff to fill them. Seems as if , when the place is slow and quiet they wait on you. As the place gets progressively crowded so service progressively gets slower.
The food was unique and amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and the service was excellent!
Food and services was good, But we waited 1 hr for the food to be served
Great food before a night at the Nutcracker Ballet. The Ceviche was some of the best I have ever had.
Excellent menu. Love the ceviche. The soups were fantastic.
This is a really nice place with great staff. The reason i rate this a three however is because my dish ( a whole Pompano) was absolutely superb. On the other hand my wifes fried shrimp were dreadful, totally overcooked. The menu looks great and i will give this place another try out at a later date.
It was ok. Nothing great.
Everything was delicious, tried the seafood soup and it was very good. Very convenient to Market Square.
Excellent Mexican Seafood restaurant. Location is difficult for parking and would be a little scarey for people who do not venture downtown. Service polite and professional. Food has unique fresh flavors. Great Octopus and fantastic lobster bisque.
I have been there for dinner and has been great, however this time I went to the brunch and I think quality of food is much lower and there was very few employees for the people in the restaurant so it made it very slow when asking something prepared in the kitchen.
I will go back but for dinner!
The food was not done well but the service was very good and friendly. My fish was over done and the tamal was gummy!
By far some of the best aquachile and oysters I have had. Very reasonable prices. Nicely appointed restaurant and extremely friendly bar staff. Highly recommend their 2018 winning margaritas (there are 2)!
Very good option in DownTown, good food and great environment
Great service and the skinny margaritas and red snapper were delicious
Great food! Food prices were good, drink prices were a little much. Definitely go for happy hour
