Experience the culinary richness of Peru at La Costanera, a modern Peruvian fusion restaurant. La Costanera opened its doors October 2, 2009, now residing on the scenic California coast in Half Moon Bay, overlooking Pillar Point Harbor. Just a short and beautiful drive from San Francisco. The space is grand, with 180 degree windows, two stories, and a large outdoor terrace with fire pits and heaters.

We offer a full bar, domestic and imported Peruvian beers, and a hand selected wine list. Come try our Pisco Sour – a classic Peruvian cocktail – and experience all that La Costanera has to offer!

Overall, a good experience we sat for dinner on a cool harbor night, not too crowded, friendly energy. Mexican, Caribbean and Brazilian music in the background. The servers were attentive, friendly from start to finish. All the food and drinks were good, almost exceptional. The flaw of the night was the length of time it took to receive our food. The starters were forgotten until I questioned what happened to them while being served the entrees. Shortly thereafter, the starters were served, making for a table full of service plates. As a courtesy, our server had the starters were deleted from the bill. We will return to give the crew at La Costanera an opportunity to redeem themselves. I am ready to give them an excellent rating if the kitchen and the front communicate better. The food was good, the servers attentive, atmosphere and music joyful. I am ready to love this place.

- for the price of the food I expected higher quality. I was unable to eat the paella I got due to it being fishy. I’ve never had fishy or slimy paella and I couldn’t eat it. I was not impressed. We left and went to another restaurant.

NOT ACCOMMODATING FOR DISABLED. Never written a bad review for a place that was my favorite restaurant. Felt dismissed and disrespected. Didn’t get to actually sit down today and eat because the staff was rude to my family. I WAS a regular customer here but was met with a rude hostess at the front desk, who didn’t wait for my family to stand up before walking off and sitting us clearly in the sun and then who refused to accommodate my party and move us to a different table not directly in the sun. I made it clear, I HAVE A DISABILITY and could not be in the sun as my body temperature runs hot and it could cause a MEDICAL EMERGENCY. It was a HEALTH HAZARD and they refused to move us to a freshly cleaned and empty table, because apparently another customers reservation for someone who wasn’t even there,somehow out weighed someone who was already there on reservations as well. They wouldn’t even just move the table a bit in the shade so we left. This restaurant has lost my business as they clearly are alright with hiring those who don’t care about the wellbeing of their customers. I have come here many times, and had no issue but because of this I am now feeling unsafe and unwelcome at this business. This carelessness could be a danger to someone in the future. I left on the verge of tears of embarrassment of my own disability because of your staff. Therefore you have LOST my family’s business. Until I hear about how you plan to make this place safer for everyone I won’t be visiting again.

We had the cebiche sampler ( very good ) with the Yucca chips, also very good. Than the Pescado a lo Macho, a kind of seafood stew, very good. 2 Cocktails. 2 cocktails, no dessert. Bill was $ 165. Ouch. The food was great, also the ambience with great views of the harbor. Unfortunately, service was not up to par. Slow ( took the 15 minutes to clear the table between courses). Had to ask 3 times for water. Trying to pay took 10 minutes. And the restaurant was not super busy ...

An extra special touch for our anniversary. Lovely restaurant and the food was delicious. Our friends who joined us live in Los Altos and visit HMB on occasion but had never been here. They loved it. We are all world travelers and we were all impressed. Thank you for our card!
