Delicious food, interesting decor.
Disappointed. This used to be my favorite Peruvian restaurant where I took all my friends when they were in town. They closed during Covid and re-opened recently. I was able to get a reservation opening week and everything was really off ( like no milk for the coffee bc they didn’t know where it was). I thought it was just them trying to get their groove back after being closed for almost 2 years. I then decided to come back a second time with friends thinking some time would help them improve. The experience was exactly the same. The food lacked flavor. I’ve never had to ask for salt when ordering Lomo Saltado but had to both times i went to this new location. And service was not bad but not exceptional. Decor was really nice though. So if you want a place with great ambiance, flavorless food and ok service, go for it.
My husband’s birthday. We had a great time!
Great ceviche trio, lovely small plates, great desserts, good tea. Love the decor, spacious seating, friendly waitress. Most enjoyable Pisco, ginger, lime cocktail. Highly recommended for a birthday treat.
Thank you for helping us celebrate our wedding anniversary. We hosted our wedding reception at La Costanera 10 years ago! Had a lovely celebration without the kids, and the food was delicious as always.
Alex I as a wonderful server. Gave us recommendations and was open to our requests. Great views all around the dinning area. Windows all around. We’ll come back.
Great service and food!
Our Server was amazing, food was great and locations is perfect for a place like La Costanera. New favorite place to visit!
The food was amazing & our server was great! we really enjoyed our experience.
Our first time going to La Costanera since it has moved. Beautifully decorated. Looks really nice. You can tell right away that they are understaffed. I could here the front of the restaurant workers talking about who didn't show up for work and the need to hire more people. We only had to wait about 5 minutes for our table, we did have a reservation. It was a thursday night.
There is an extensive menu, but we felt that things were over priced.
I don't think the prices are justified.
The food was good, not great. The appetizers are very small but expensive.
They did mess up our drink order and forgot to bring us one drink. The cocktails were very good though.
For a party of 4 the bill was close to $300. I just don't feel that they can justify charging what they are for some of the items on the menu.
Amazing food, beautiful ambiance, but service was friendly but slow
Food was fabulous. Service was so so. Not as attentive for the cost of the food. Food service was slow snd so was cocktail service.
Great food. Wonderful flavors with every bit. Best pana cotta I've ever had. Lovely views of the harbor. Nice environment, but not too stiff or formal. Not too noisy either - you can actually have a conversation, but you also feel a good energy in the place. Enjoy!
Great food! Love the new location. Beautiful view.
Delicious food and lovely views along the shore. We ordered the fish of the day cebiche, pescado a lo macho, and paella, and enjoyed it all very much!
We had a great waiter who provided us with wonderful service. We also received a beautiful dessert plate for my birthday/anniversary. We really loved the awesome decor!
We highly recommend this outstanding restaurant with great food and service!
Menu was not a full menu I know is lunch but I was disappointed with not been able to order pulpo. Also, order gallina but not flavor. I asked for glass a water never showed up. The busgirl took my knife and fork after my appetizer never got back with clean ones.
The paella was excellent, the calamari order twice. First orders was very little amount. Second one was more decent portion.
Waitress was very sweet. My wife recibe a panacota for her birthday which was very sweet.
Not sure if I will get back.
The hostesses, servers were all friendly & pleasant, continuously checking in on us.
My favorite was the cebiche chino , the chorizo empanada was tasty (raisins were a nice touch).
The seafood paella was tasty, the octopus & some clams were overcooked.
The Adobo was good b/c the pork was well cooked & tender, but the sauce was slightly lacking in flavor. Rice on the side would be better than potatoes.
The Aji de Gallina & salmon plates were both well received.
It took about 20 minutes or more before they can seat us despite having a reservation. It took a while before our server came to take order but after that our sever was really good and friendly and came back several times to check on us.
I have had anticuchos in Peru. These were not marinated like the ones I had there. The food was warm and in some cases cold. The server said the kitchen was running behind. The anticuchos are an appetizer. They came after the main course. We sat with empty drinks for at least 20 minutes after ordering.
Food and service-excellent ! Make reservations on weekends especially.
I definitely prefer the former location, atmosphere could be more elegant. Good for birthdays.
I used to love going to them, when they were in Montara.
They have only been in there new location 5 weeks. Wasn't the same experience.
On the plus side their Pisco sours were the same.
On the minus side the. instead of Peruvian corn being put on our table to snack on it was potato chips. Also a shrimp dish which tasted fine seemed to have bottled BBQ sauce, instead of a restaurant made one. Mentioned that to manager and he said it was made in house(?) Lamb chops were great.
All good with dinner
Our entire experience was just incredible from our waiter being extremely attentive and making sure we were very well taken care of to the food being phenomenal! La Costanera has never disappointed us! Just an amazing experience every time!
We were a table of six upstairs.
Ordered family style with help from our wait staff. Loved the food and the service was very informed and attentive! Thank you for remembering our friend’s anniversary - much appreciated.
Nice wine list and adventurous cocktails. Try a bit of everything on the menu and you will enjoy it!
Celebrated my birthday last night. Food was amazing. The service was great, Nancy was a rockstar!
Excellent food and service in their new location. We had a great experience, including someone anonymously paying for our meal!
it's an interesting new spot; feels more casual, it's louder. They were a little confused about where and when to sit us, even though we had a reservation. The food was tasty as always. I'd recommend the Cibeche Mixto, and the Pescado a lo Macho. very tasty.
Great food!!! Helpful staff!! The only thing that was a bit of a challenge was the noise level. Its definitely improved from the old location.
Excellent food, service and ambience. I brought out of town friends and they haven't stopped raving about La Costanera. I can't wait to go back!!!
Good food, service a bit slow. All n all a pleasant experience
Food and service were excellent. The new location is welcoming with great views of Half Moon Bay.
We used to love going to La Costanera back when they were still on the other site. The place they are in right now is nice but I was not happy with the hostess when she tried to give me a table in the innermost corner where I can’t even see outside. I asked if I can be seated by the window and she said “it’s only for people who reserved” I told her I reserved too a week ago, plus I could see that there are plenty of tables still unoccupied. She was not happy that I didn’t like the table she was giving us and told us to go stand up by the bar and wait. Her attitude was not friendly at all. Food was ok. Not something that I would be going back for anytime soon. I have to give lots of credit to our server because he was very nice.
Loud, sad service by unhappy waitress.
Pamela was an awesome server! So knowledgeable and fun!!! Spectacular service!!
Beautiful decor but quite noisy so hard to enjoy conversation. Server was great but super busy.
Love the food, service is great! Beautiful view from second floor! Highly recommend it if in the area!!!
So glad they relocated after COVID. Same exception Peruvian fare. Same delightful service people. Same kitschy ambience. Just need to get the timing down. Drinks took too long. Entrees delivered seconds after appetizers. But very attentive.
Friendly, efficient staff. Delicious Pisco Sours at the bar. The Cebiche Chino is marinated ahi tuna, poke style with house made won tons. The Bolitas de Yucca and Tequenos were delicious. We ordered the Adobo, Pescado a lo Macho and Seafood Paella as entrees, and they were all excellent. This was the best meal we have had in a long time. Worth the trip from the City or Peninsula.
