Such a beautiful location and decor, a mini trip to southern France! The food is delicious and the wait staff were all lovely. WIll definitely return!
We have wanted to eat here for years. It finally happened and we were not disappointed. We will be back.
the setting is gorgeous.the staff is very friendly.the house wine is very good and reasonably
priced.the escargot was not as garlicy as most, but delicious.our entrees, duck and lamb, were
perfection.one downside, they do not discourage cell phone use.another table was skyping loudly.
Saturday brunch with amazing food and an amazing wait staff.
La Caille is a wonderful fine dining experience, probably the only one in Utah. The food is amazing and properly portioned, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was peaceful and romantic for our anniversary dinner.
I fully enjoyed the four course meal, the grounds were beautiful, and the peafowl strutting around outside the window by our table added to the enjoyment of the evening.
I would gladly go again for every future anniversary dinner and even an occasional classy date night. Well worth the money for the full experience!
I would not recommend this at all. The setting had it's day I'm sure but it is tired and despite employees trying, I would not return. People were very nice but the food across the board was terrible. The entire restaurant smelled of bleach when we arrived. The prices were terrible for the value received. The eggs were undercooked...even the whites, the Hollandaise Sauce was gelatinous, cold, and no flavor of lemon at all, we asked twice for crispy bacon and it was absolutely not, the crepe was served cold, the lemon cream inside tasted like Jello pudding, the blueberry topping was not fresh and had a tough jelly-like skin to it, the meal took forever although the restaurant was almost empty. Amazingly for Utah the coffee was excellent! Reviews are typically good so maybe we hit it on a bad day.
Perfect dining experience.
This is one of the greats! We come here every time we visit from Australia.
La Caille seems to have it all to be successful but continues to fail. The setting is lovely and the wine list is great and the food can be delicious, but the service is rarely commendable. We have been very disappointed in their ability to provide decent service even when there are only a few tables with diners. This was our last visit.
We had not been there for about 7/8 yrs. THe restaurant has changed owners, chefs, It was our first time during the day, beautiful grounds and building
The service was good, ambience really nice. Buffet was limited it was good not great. But I would go again
We wanted this year's Easter meal to be extra special, because it was also the birthday of a couple of members of our family. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meal, which was served in a buffet form in their beautiful greenhouse area. We loved the greenery, flowers and ambiance. There was a broad selection of food, which was all wonderful.
Another diner said that their Creme Brulee French Toast was life-changing. It kind of was. Thick pieces of bread, baked first, then a crusty caramelized layer was added to the top. Real butter and maple syrup complete this very decadent dish. For the carnivores in the group, there was a very good prime rib and crab, as well as crab cakes, sausage and bacon and other meaty favorites. The salads, fruits and pastries were all very good.
Our servers were attentive and friendly.
Our visit wast perfect in every way! Loved the food and the service. Recommend to everyone!
We have eaten three times at La Caille over the last 10 years. We are frequent world travelers and have eaten at very high-end restaurants from Europe to Asia and across the United States. We went to dinner there two days ago. It is very beautiful. Our appetizers were fantastic, however, we ordered the halibut and the entrées for my wife and me were incredibly disappointing. For starters the My halibut was too dry and Not at all moist and Full of flavor like I have had at other high-end restaurants. My wife’s halibut was unbelievably oversalted and She simply could not pallet it. She alerted the waitress who took it away. The cook prepared a new one and delivered it only to find that this halibut was half raw. We alerted the waitress again, she apologized, took it away and they cooked the remaining part of it, brought it back and it was way too overcooked and dry. The manager was very pleasant and took my wife’s entrée off of our bill. All I have to say is is that the ambience is wonderful, the appetizers were great, but the chef who cooked our halibut didn’t know what he was doing or Was simply too distracted to pay attention to his art of cooking fish. Either way it was a gargantuan disappointment for our anniversary. We will give La Caille another try in the future, hopefully, the next time it will be as we would expect.
After living in Spain, Paris, and London for awhile I can say that my experience at La Caille was like stepping back into Europe. After exploring acres of beautiful gardens my date and I enjoyed excellent food and loved the romantic atmosphere. Phenomenal place for any special occasion.
Such a wonderful and beautiful property with amazing service and delicious food. I would highly recommend visiting La Caille!
Should have visited years ago. Amazing. The meal started with an excellent amuse-bouche and continued at the highest level until desert.
Absolutely fantastic food and service. I had asked that the restaurant make my Mother feel very special for her 82nd birthday, but Mark and the General Manager, Lane, took great care of all of us at the table. Our coffee cups were kept full and hot. Definitely an upscale treat.
We made a reservation as a last minute idea. We had been there before years ago, but felt the place had lost its luster. Well under new ownership the place is back to what we liked in the past. Good food! We were greeted by the hostess and escorted to our table. A beautiful room. Our server greeted us and we discussed the menu, special cocktails and the wine list. I ordered the Petite Filet Eggs Benedict and my wife the regular Eggs Benedict. We both commented on the great flavors of the Hollandaise Sauce and the Pit Ham which is an improvement over Canadian Bacon. It was a fantastic brunch which we will repeat many times in the future. The meal was a positive experience.
Very beautiful place. The food and the service is great.
I took my girlfriend here for dinner before we went to prom. The service was absolutely wonderful and they were extremely caring. The valet guys were nice and made conversation while we waited for our car and the held the door open for us when we arrived and left. The food was absolutely wonderful. The steak could have been cooked a bit more but other than that it was amazing. I would definitely recommend La Caille to anyone looking for an amazing date.
We went here for our second anniversary. Due to the incredibly unique ambiance, I had wanted to eat here for some time. However, both my wife and I were far more impressed than we expected to be by the ambiance and the quality of the food and service. Her filet mignon was the best we had ever had. My lobster, scallops, and caviar were also amazing. Our waiter was the most attentive I had ever had, and he explained the dining options and presented the food in a way that you would only experience at a fine dining restaurant. The photos on the site do not due the restaurant justice.
Eating here was the best dining experience I have ever had, and it helped make our anniversary something incredibly special.
Great place for a Sunday brunch. The food and service was excellent.
This place is amazing there is so much to look at and enjoy. The food is incredible and worth every penny. It's an amazing place for events, dinning, and get together's. The outside is beautifully kept as well as the inside. Art is amazing in this place, i can't wait to come again!
The noise level isn’t usually high, but we had a very loud table next to us. Everything else was exceptional.
We came here to celebrate our 26th anniversary and it was SPECTACULAR. The services was extremely attentive. The host got us seated right away. Our server helped us order the perfect drinks for our meal as well. The food was well timed, and the portions were excellent and definetly worth the price! The menu was very well balanced and had great options for us. Especially because we our both celiac and one of us cannot eat pork. I would definetly recommend coming, and it really made our anniversary feel so special!!
Valentine's Day. Spent $275 (after tax and tips) for my wife and I, hoping for something special. There was nothing really wrong. It just wasn't amazing. It's not quite my style. The table and chair was small and a little uncomfortable. The waitress seemed a bit more interested in telling us what she thought we should order rather than helping us understand the menu and letting us decide. There are plenty of nice restaurants where you can spend less for a very nice meal.
First time visit to La Caille. Very interesting place unfortunately couldn’t fully appreciate it in the dark. My wife and I were excited to make reservations for Valentine’s Day. I even checked out the normal menu before going. When we arrived I found that you couldn’t order off the original menu. The only menu available was a four course special Valentines menu. Instead of food I was interested at around $55 a plate. I was forced to order the special at $110 a plate. So I felt a little trapped and I guess some say I should have known, but I didn’t. The food on the special was not dishes I would have picked. I had a consommé that was so light that it was like pleasant water. Next up was the foie grase slider. So this sandwich was a slider bun with two minuscule drops of some spice and a thick pate of foie grase. Well maybe my tastes are not refined enough but it tasted like a block of butter between a bun. So after one bite I was a little green. The main course was a beef a fries which was delicious. Dessert also was wonderful. In the end the management kindly reduced my bill by 20%. I still much more than planned mostly on food I didn’t expect. Overall the experience left me and my wife underwhelmed even though we came in very excited. If you enjoy having people watch you spend a lot on food this seems to be a good place.
The food and service was absolutely amazing. Everything from the fresh tuna all the way down to the dry aged 45 day steak was beyond expectations. The chefs in the kitchen are extremely creative and know how to blend different flavors to do an amazing dish. This is an absolute must try!
Brought my daughter after a weekend of skiing as we were headed back to SLC airport.
Service was excellent...and very warm. Lovely place. Interesting and fun.
We ordered 5 items; salad, escargot, lobster /pasta, Filet Mignon and a bottle of wine. Unfortunately, all 5 items came out cold.
We sent back the escargot.
We sent back the lobster and the Filet.
At $58 a plate...it diminished the need to return.
Sorry for the poor review.
Our waiter failed to add the pink liquid to our “cookie”, but other tables had it. We were not offered any after brunch coffee. I guess there are no desserts. The food is skimpy for the high-priced charge, and is comparable to Market Street’s brunch. However, they charge $8 for the same dish. You are really buying the ambiance of La Caille, and that can’t be beat, nor can the delicious croissants.
Steven was a wonderful waiter. The entire experience was unforgettable.
It was very good! The food wasnt anything special just overpriced and on the saltier side. The service was great
The food and service were better than expected! The brunch was delicious!
We used to go here 1-2 times a year when we flew in from california to ski in the 1990s
Our sons joined us as they matured and we loved the midevial ambiance and costumes.
They food was excellent and the staff was extraordinary.
We always walked the magical grounds after dinner to see the swans and the “elves cabin”. Reservations were hard to get -way in advance ! We couldn’t wait to see it again.
All changed now, +duck was tough!
No costumes, expensive, blah! The staff was nice enough but our memories were better.
No wonder the place was empty ....miss the old staff
Sorry to see the change . Will not be back!
Our final Fine-Dining evening was enjoyed at Lilian’s FAVORITE restaurant, La Caille, a lovely country French unique dining setting, seated on acreage at the base of Little Cottonwood canyon below Snowbird/Alta, complete with peacocks strolling the property (and wintering by the fireplace chimneys on the roof), swans and ducks 🦆 paddling in the ponds, as well as an expanding vineyard producing local wines. Now recovered from a tumultuous and tragic past under a new owner, each year presents fresh venues and upgrades! The menu remains French at the core, including escargot 🐌 (we passed), with delicious and elegant offerings! Shawn W. brought a multifaceted L’Ecole No. 41 Perigee Seven Hills 2013 🍷from Walla Walla Valley, that complemented the meal perfectly! We enjoyed excellent service from our waiter, also named Shawn, and a visit and wine 🍷 discussion by the manager Layne Dansie, who we met last year. A wonderful evening, to be repeated next year!
Awesome experience! Our server was sensational and made our experience incredible. (I think his name is Steven?). Fantastic!
Our first experience at La Caille was beyond our imagination and the reputation that echoes through the Salt Lake Valley. Our enthusiasm was difficult to contain as we received a gift card for the holidays. The grounds are impeccably prestine with flirting wildlife and fantastic geography. We felt like royalty from the moment we were escorted to our table. Meg shines with the experience and hospitality that makes everyone feel welcomed. Our culinary caberet was delightfully shocking to our senses and reminiscent of the French culture. The entire staff took time to stop and say hello as well as offer to take pictures. Word on the street is La Caille is expensive but worth it and we don't feel like that gives it enough justice. Our memorable evening will be held in the highest of regard for centuries to come and we plan on celebrating many more occasions at this rare gem of Salt Lake City.
No valet when we arrived. Found a place to park and walked up. Food was very good, but we have had better at a lower price. No one’s fault, but the table next to us had an older outspoken lady with a very loud voice. Took away from the romantic setting and evening.
La Caille is a wonderful restaurant is a beautiful setting
Just outstanding. Location, the grounds, the restaurant, all gorgeous. Service was excellent. Personal, not feeling rushed. Food and drinks were fantastic. Expensive? Sure, but totally worth it.
