Chef Michael Lewis and General Manager Steven Haigh bring a fresh concept to Miami with the opening of KYU. The wood-fired Asian grill features a diverse menu and focuses on professional yet relaxed service and a commitment to green practices.

Chef Lewis’s menu is influenced by years of global travel and inspired by Japanese and Korean yakiniku (literally translated to grilled meat in Japanese). The plates are designed to be straightforward and shareable, enabling a warm social environment. Barbecue aficionados will notice elements of American Southern barbecue peppered throughout the menu including the traditional “slow and low” technique. A carefully curated cocktail list features variations of classic cocktails with clever Asian twists.

The space was designed to bring elements of the neighborhood in with raw concrete, local art, and wood and metal accents. The natural elements in the contemporary design are reflective of

Food was great start to finish. The hospitality was very welcoming and Jophiel was an outstanding server. He guided us through our dining experience and ensured we had a wonderful time. The kitchen was on point and flavors were very good.

This place rocked. The service was awesome, request Jophie. Food was amazing. Our reservation was late, and our group was hungry and we had our first plate within about 10 minutes. The duck duck joose drink was life changing - and the sake's on the menu are a must try. All good things to say about this restaurant. Cherry on top is an open kitchen to watch the master chefs at work. BOMB. Thanks!

Service was excellent! Ambiance great! My table was ready at the time of reservation. I recommend the crunchy tuna and the fried chicken, couliflower is their best selling item.

First time and it won’t be the last. Everything we ordered from their menu was absolutely delicious. Go for the Korean Fried Chicken. You won’t regret it. Staff is friendly and accommodating!

We dined twice in Kyu during our Easter holiday in Miami. Our servers were Katrina(hope remembered correctly, she is lovely) and Pedro. They were very good in their suggestions and service.
We had Caluliflower, Avocado salad, Hamachi and tenderloin. The food was fabulous , all done with quality and love.
We tried spicy cocktails and it was a bliss.
Beautiful industrial design place in lovely Wynwood.
Reservation is a must although if you walk in with wait time they might accommodate.
We will remember Kyu as a delicious gem and recommend to anyone who care about good food.

The service here is incredible. Some of the nicest staff I have ever met. The food was excellent. I don’t even like coconut and cauliflower, and I finished every single bite of those dishes!

Food was disappointing. I expected more. Fish was good, rice was average as were the vegetables. The craft cocktail was average. But the coconut cake was amazing, delicious and moist. It made up for a average and pricey lunch

I was excited to try this place after many people I know recommended it..unfortunately The food in general was bad , even the signature Russian mule cocktail..ice and sugar were the main ingredients of it.i order 4 appetizer and a main course .
The signature salat with goat cheese was pretty lame .. the fried rice was extremely sweet , over spicy and more hard than crunchy “..almost broke one of my feeling on it!!
But The worst dish of all was :The wajiu brisket : the most chewy tasteless peace of meat I ever tasted ( I told the waitress and she brought it to the chef who tried it and agreed with me...I have to say it was nice of them to take it off the check) please is also extremely noisy that you can have a conversation.
I only enjoyed the octopus appetizer and the pork belly bun which was both pretty nice.

Def not the place I will go back to.

Great food and service. Only down sides are the high noise level and relatively expensive food for the portion sizes. Be aware that many table are hi-tops. Will definitely go again.

I read wonderful reviews about this restaurant, and was very curious about it. Especially after booking a reservation was a hassle. (There was anything available) only 5 in the afternoon on a Monday.

Overall I didn’t like the food, me and my boyfriend are huge on eating out and we get excited to try new places all the time.

But this place disappointed us, and it’s definitely hyped up more than it should be.

The service was ok, our server kept forgetting our order and delivered us foods we didn’t order.

The restaurant is nice and modern I liked the style.

The food wasn’t that special. Everything was spicy, and just regular.

Overalll I would rate this place 3 stars.

Best food we’ve had yet whilst in Miami. Too easy to overorder, as everything on the menu is a winner. The Thai sausage rice stonepot was the standout dish for us, with the bao buns a close second. Great service and atmosphere.

We were thrilled that we were able to get a reservation for brunch, as the restaurant is often full. The 'Breakfasty' options looked and smelled great as they wafted through the dining room, but ultimately we opted for the tasting menu, which is an incredibly reasonable $65 for lunch per person. We also did the cocktail pairing to accompany each course (again, very reasonable at $40 per person).

The pace of the meal was great, and the service was impeccable. Our server, Reece, was excellent, as was his server assistant Shawn. We were able to try some of the most popular items on the menu, including fried pork belly (which was delicious and meaty), a rice hot pot (which was great the next day as well), marinated steak tenderloin, fried kale (the sauce is the best part), softshell crab steam buns (YUM), roasted cauliflower (amazing), and even something sweet for dessert.

My favorite cocktail of the day was a play on Tom Kha soup, with warm gin, coconut milk and lime. Sounds crazy, but is a great pairing for the food. A staple choice is the KYU mule. If you're feeling like taking a risk, definitely try the 'Duck Duck Joos'. It's a shot of Cognac with the jus from their duck dish. The caramelized flavors of the Cognac are a fun contrast to the savory taste of the jus.

A big thank you to the team at KYU for making our anniversary so special!!!

This was my second visit to Kyu - the first time, I went with a friend, this time, I dragged my husband all the way from Washington, DC to join me. (Yes, it's that good.) Sitting next to us on Friday night was a couple from NYC, so we were not alone in traveling for a great food experience AND great food.

Both times I've been we did the tasting menu, which was the same on each occasion. This is by no means an exhaustive list, but it is what I remember: the crunch kale nam prik, soft shell crab steamed bun, (we may have gotten the burrata, I can't remember), the roasted cauliflower with goat cheese and shishito herb vinaigrette, pork and shitake gyoza with smoked truffle ponzu (save the ponzu for other things!), crispy-spicy hamachi tartare, thai fried rice stone pot with king crab, korean fried chicken (husband went nuts for this!) wagyu brisket with black shichimi pepper, thai coconut creamed spinach. And dessert was the coconut cake. The only thing I wasn't wild about was the creamed spinach, but that could have been because I was food-ed out by then - if it came earlier in the meal, it would have been better received. Last time we also got the dark chocolate s'mores cake with banana-bourbon ice cream, which was also excellent.

This time my husband did the cocktail pairing, which he reported was excellent. Both times I got the Wynwood Mule, because I am basic, but the cocktail is anything but. The smoked pineapple adds another level to the drink. Don't miss the warm (yes!) gin (yes!) soup (I know!), which is (maybe) called Walk of Shame - it is incredible.

The service is outstanding - both times I have been impressed with not only the service, but the personalities of the staff - they are warm and welcoming, which you don't always see at a "hot" restaurant. Kyu does not provide aloof service - which was so nice! I can't say enough good things about it - go NOW!

Avocado salad is amazing, as was everything else. Server suggested the s'mores dessert which was a twist given the coconut cake reputation. Let's just say we were not disappointed by that steer. Remains a Miami favorite of ours.

Finally got a reservation for a Monday night at 6:45, and had to wait for over 30 minutes although there were empty tables. It showed lack of organization at the front desk, and some arrogance. The food was extremely spicy, which is perfectly fine individually for each plate, but collectively, was overwhelming on the palate. Waiters were prompt and courteous, but need to understand the whole meal transition from plate to plate, and oversold us on the amount of food we ordered. Great concept, but needs sophistication.

Flavorful eclectic menu . Loved the pork buns , duck and lemon cake which we all shared. Very good service. Asked about happy hour in the bar when we arrived which was posted on the web site and the hostess said it ended . She said it had just changed that week but the web site didn’t. She said we could speak to a manager. We didn’t want to make a big deal since we brought our own bubbly and wine. ( corkage fee $35 per bottle) and were having dinner after. The other minor problem seemed to be only two uní-sex bathrooms for the entire restaurant resulting in a long line and wait any time anyone from our table decided to use the facility. Despite the noise level and the two minor objections we thoroughly enjoyed KYU and look forward to returning.
