Contemporary Asian
Chef Michael Lewis and General Manager Steven Haigh bring a fresh concept to Miami with the opening of KYU. The wood-fired Asian grill features a diverse menu and focuses on professional yet relaxed service and a commitment to green practices.

Chef Lewis’s menu is influenced by years of global travel and inspired by Japanese and Korean yakiniku (literally translated to grilled meat in Japanese). The plates are designed to be straightforward and shareable, enabling a warm social environment. Barbecue aficionados will notice elements of American Southern barbecue peppered throughout the menu including the traditional “slow and low” technique. A carefully curated cocktail list features variations of classic cocktails with clever Asian twists.

Exceeded Expectations which were very high! I had read all the reviews but was unconvinced until I ate the amazing, tasty, creative unusual food. The Bok Choy, The White Beans, The Red Snapper, The cauliflower, it was all so so amazing! The atmosphere fun and festive. It felt healthy, and I have food allergies and felt good the next day after eating here. Cannot wait to go back! The cocktails were great too. The server was knowledgable, complimentary and efficient, great guy!

As one of Opentable’s most recommended restaurants, I expected much better food. Located in Midtown, it has an artsy industrial vibe and an Asian-BBQ fusion theme. the drinks were good and so were the bbq ribs. There weren’t enough options on the menu and the duck wasn’t great.

Had a great time at KYU with my girlfriend for her birthday. Our waitress was incredibly helpful in recommending dishes, and everything we ordered was very tasty and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend!

We have been addicted to Kyu since it opened. Amazing food, now also a magnificent cocktail menu! It just keeps getting better but sadly the whole town has fought up to how good it is, so - sadly for us - it’s hard to get a reservation... every day at Kyu is a special day for us!

Can't wait to go back as 2 people couldn't have as much as I wanted to order! Went for a b-day lunch and was thrilled with everything I ordered - great drinks (all) soft shell crab bun, gyoza, fried chicken (a signature there) and grilled bok choy. Had the coconut cake which was decorated w/ a candle and subtle not loud presentation. IT WAS AMAZING! Please save room for the delicious dessert! Our Server was wonderful in recommendations and timing of food delivery. All food is for sharing.

The food was delicious with a few exceptions. This was my second time dining here and my group shared everything. We loved the tuna tataki and the ceviche, we adored the duck and enjoyed the broccoli and the pork belly. The beef tenderloin would have been perfect but the sauce was way over-salted. The kimchee bloody Mary would have been divine, but again, too much salt. I’m not overly sensitive to salt...I love salty, but these two items were really heavy handed. My other disappointment was the crispy tuna. I’ve had this before where the crispy rice was lightly crisped on the outside but fluffy on the inside. This batch was over-cooked where the rice was super sticky, dense and overly crisped.

Service and ambiance were great and we had a lovely pre Miami Heat dinner. I look forward to returning.

Amazing - this is our third visit - we always host friends and family here because it is always an amazing experience - incredible gastro experience and fantastic service - go - eat - go again - go - drink - go again! Amazing!

We started with cauliflower and pork buns. Both were very good but the pork buns were my absolute favorite of the night. Next were the Korean fried chicken and been tenderloin. They dont go together because the fried chicken was spicy and strong flavored. However the been was succulent, tender, and smoky- absolutely mouth watering delicious. Mushrooms were good but not memorable. Rice pot was ok- I didnt like the lemongrass otherwise would have been tasty. Panna cotta was not sweet which is how I like my dessert but my dining partner loved the s'mores. Would definitely go back.

two of our dishes came out before we received our drinks. We kept telling the wait staff to slow down with serving food, but the kitchen wasn't listening. The manager apologized and bought us a round of drinks. That definitely made us happy. We go to Kyu all the time and they're usually the best restaurant in Miami. This wasn't their best showing, but in the end, I was super happy with the food and I appreciate they tried to fix the situation.

Service was exceptional. It was our first time here and many people had recommended the place to us. My expectations were dangerously high and I must say they were superseded! The food was outstanding - the 3 dishes the waiter recommended to us made for the best dinner we had in Miami during out entire 1-week vacation. We had the red snapper (a small portion, but absolutely delicious and unique) as well as the friend rice with King Crab that was unreal and extremely filling so sharing both of these dishes between 2 people was just right. We had the kale appetizer to have something to munch on while we waited for the rice and it was good too, but of course very light. We had the S'mores dessert to finish which was also exquisite. I give this place a 10.

Really enjoyed our food - it was delicious and creative. The ambiance was a little too millennial for my tastes- a but uncomfortable with hard surfaces (wood, concrete) everywhere, and very loud. Didn’t like how the dishes came out of the kitchen sporadically, and kind of got thrown down on the table with the servers offering only indecipherable descriptions of what we were about to eat. Endless servings of ice cold water! If it had been a little softer and warmer and more welcoming, we would have loved it with no restriction

My wife and I were in Miami right before Christmas 18 to celebrate 15 years together. Having heard from friends and also online reviews, we were able to get reservations for 7pm. Service and food were amazing and I cannot recommend KYU enough. I say definitely splurge with the KYU Dinner Experience with the classic drinks pairing, but make sure to come with an appetite as it is a lot of food. They also customize to your tastes so the experience is well worth it. Some of the items we indulged in were:

Very hip wynnewood eatery. Delicious food. Sharing plates. Minimal decor. Very hard to keep track of costs because you order a bunch of dishes for the party and so it adds up quickly so not for the budget conscious. But fun experience and right around the corner from the wynnewood walls.

Overall it was good. The food was pricey and the menu items were not explained properly. The food was tasty and the service was good although slow.
I didn’t like that I came home smelling as if I’d been hours in the kitchen.

Had a great meal on Sunday night. Reservations for 9:45 and it was still packed. Not too loud. The food was fantastic as we were expecting. The service was also top notch. Server name was Greg and he was very energetic. The fried chicken and stone crab rice were the winners of the meal. The cocktails were good, but not quite as on point as food. Felt like they were a bit overpriced for how much I enjoyed. Just OK so only 4 stars. Overall would probably give 3 stars, for food/price, but service was fantastic.
