The food was excellent. Our waiter was outstanding. The atmosphere was great. The best meal out that we've had in a long time.

Advertised Gluten Free pizza, then of course, were out of it. Then when we tried to order burgers, were told the burgers has bread crumbs -- who makes burgers with bread crumbs? A lazy restaurant does -- so they don't have to make both meat balls and burgers separately. The result, according to one diner in our group who ordered it any way, was a burger that tasted like an Italian meat ball. Very disappointing. Wait staff were great -- doing their best to navigate around a nonsensical menu.

My ribeye was perfectly done. My wife’s beef tips were not done to her order. Veg was tasty and perfectly done. Service was ok, seemed she was assigned too many tables, but she could only serve from the bar when he could get to it. Bar was understaffed, or he wasn’t focused.
We watched a waiter and his trainee, (entertainment!), he was superficial in his interactions with customers, the trainee was frustrated with the guy, she should be tossed onto the floor to work tables. She will do better than her trainer.
We’ll be back for the pizza! Also, bottled beers are too many-reduce the basics, expand the offerings of on-tap beers-with that, offer up beer/food pairings-like samplers-(May challenge the kitchens work/production pace), but you’d sell more $8-12 food items per beer glass sold, or do a 4 glass flight of 6-9oz - and a set of 4 food item pairings.
We had brunch. Absolutely amazing service. Everyone was unbelievably friendly. It was my first time taking my parents. They LOVED it! Thanks!
Ambiance is excellent, service was first rate, food was ample and excellent.. The four of us had an array of appetizers and entree’s, each one was as good as the others.. Great wine list, nicely priced, wide selection.. Will definitely return..

The food was great and the cost was fair. The service was slow (valentines day) and I reserved a sit down table and didn't get one.

As usual the service leaves this restaurant effecting the entire experience. Once waited on this time our server was very nice and rushed our order so we could make it to a play. However we waited 20 minutes to place our order. We got water 15 minutes after being seated and we told that server we needed to get our order in. Five minutes later we gave our drink and food order and received our drinks quickly. We did get our food fairly fast and walked out the door when needed. A month before we were there for restaurant week with friends. That time we got water after 15 minutes, our drink order was taken 27 minutes after being seated and I insisted she take our food order with the drink order so who knows how long we might have waited for that. We only were waited on after I went to the hostess station to complain. The rest of the night the waitress shot me daggers with her eyes. (And I believe she is one of the managing staff ). We ended up each only having one drink ( except the couple who ordered a bottle of wine because she never asked if we wanted another drink). We were some of the last people to finish our meals for the evening even though our reservation was at 6:30 PM. Two of us had a 6 AM flight the next day so we were planning to get out of there much earlier. Food was great but the service needs attention and training.

Great place for fun drinks and amazing food. The salads are among my favorite in rapid city. Always fresh and great combination of ingredients. Pizzas are also good. Love the mixed drinks, too.
Wonderfully prepared dishes and outstanding service and ambiance. We were taken care of by Ohinya who was delightful . The price was moderate for the quality . Also, we noticed how energetic and happy the staff seamed . The open oven was very interesting and you added to the foods flavor. This restaurant is a winner.
Overall, my friends and I had a good time at kōl. We arrived at noon and had made a reservation. I was unaware at lunch there was no host and we sat ourselves. We had to push two tables together in order to fit us all, which was kind of annoying, but not a big deal. It seemed there was only one server working. And boy was he WORKING HARD. He was super polite, brought us all waters to start and asked for our drink orders. I asked for a sangria and he was slightly confused... I said, you can just use white whine, through some fruit in there and call it a day. lol. A little while later what I got was a super sweet strawberry spritzer. He tried... I'll give him credit. I asked for another glass of white and I split the spritzer between my extra glass and my friends. The pizza we got was also super sweet, so I wasn't a huge fan, but my friend liked it a lot. So again, no complaints, just not the best thing and probably wouldn't order it again. Everyone else got soup/salads and they seemed to love it. Overall, everything went well. I would just recommend the restaurant have more people working on a Friday lunch shift.

The food and service were very good but we felt completely rushed. They rushed the food out like they were trying to get us in and out. We did not appreciate that. We wanted to relax with a drink a bit before dinner. I’m sure it because if restaurant week but still no excuse for that. Food and servers were great.

My husband and I are both well-traveled residents of Rapid City. We were quite disappointed by our dinner at (kol) as the menu looked great. I was hungry for pizza and ordered the Farmer Joe’s Chicken pizza which was advertised as a pizza with smoked chicken, red onions, mushrooms and bacon. What I received was a pizza overloaded with oily cheese, two or three minuscule pieces of chicken (needed my reading glasses to discover them), three thin slivers of mushroom and tons of chunks of ‘bacon’ (fatty salty pork belly, actually). The crust was great but it was a gut-bomb even though I only ate part of it. My husband also only ate part of his dinner, but we both decided to throw away the leftovers the next morning.
The two servers that waited on our table were both rather surly and did not look or act like they wanted to be at work the Friday evening we were there.
Slow service. Especially from the bar. Dirty plates never picked up. My chair so tight to the table behind that it was uncomfortable. Told them it was our anniversary on app but no one at the restaurant said a thing.
I always love going to KoL! Executive Chef Joshua Cumiford and his team put out great food! The salmon dinner is the best that I've had! GM Tristan Barnard and his staff make each visit a treat! I will back for dinner this week!
Despite a reservation, given probably the worse table in the restaurant. Food was OK, but servings rather lean. Service was fine, despite poor table quality.

While the food was excellent, we found the service sadly lacking! We each ordered an appetizer, and a salad entree at the same time. Within a minute or two after our appetizers arrived, the server brought our salads. Not only was there insufficient space on the table, we’d barely lifted our forks for the appetizers. The server retreated, only to appear again in about five minutes with the salads! Once again, we asked that he wait until we had finished the appetizers. Finally, he got it right and replaced the empty plates with the salads. Unfortunately, this was the only service we received. No water refill, checking on how we were doing, or asking if we needed anything more.
The ambience of the restaurant was “high cool” with very modern lighting and large columns of black, grey and brown wood, circled by glass that looked like linen cloth. High ceilings were painted black and the light fixtures were pot lights above the tables and some large fixtures in the bar area. The open kitchen was interesting, but there wasn’t any sense of intimacy in the place. Too bad....what could have been a spectacular experience was only so-so. But - the food is worth a second visit!
Great food and atmosphere. We had Sunday brunch there and enjoyed the Bloody Marys and Mimosas as well as the Nutella French Toast, Scotch Eggs, and Corned Beef and Hash. We will be back.

The apps (burrata caprese and soup) were fine. The pork belly entree was twice the size it should've been. It tastes ok but only bc it's drowned in accoutrements. The rib eye was not a rib eye... it was a weird round red colored meat... ordered medium rare, it was borderline raw. No seasoning. We're not local but have no interest in revisiting if we return to rapid city in the future. Recommend the chef try their food and adjust portions. Also, stacked chairs by our table was weird...

Reservation for low top was not honored. The hostess did not listen when I said I had a reservation, instead she ignored even looking at what was chosen. This was in part because there was almost nobody in the restaurant so she just wanted to seat us and avoid looking at her iPad. The jerk wings had little flavor and the pizza wasn’t much better than a Costco take and bake. At least it was inexpensive.
We made an early reservation as we had to leave kol by 7:00 pm. We each ordered salads. It took about 45 minutes to get our food. There were two other tables who had gotten there after we did, and they got their food long before we did. I finally asked the server where our food was, and he said it was on the way. I told him we have to leave at 7:00. We didn't get our food until 6:45. I thought that was way too long for salads (also had a 1/2 sandwich with mine).
The food was very good once we got it.
The wait was disappointing.
Great atmosphere and excellent food. Will be there again on next trip to Rapid City.
