This restaurant is still trying to find it's sweet spot after a year of operation. It can't decide if it wants to be a bar with food, or a restaurant with a bar. It's billed as a fusion of japanese cuisine with a low country upscale vibe, thus has a purposeful clash of cultures. On the upscale side, nice japanese graphics on the walls, but Chinese videos on the TV, backlit menus that are too bright for the light level of the room, made even more unpleasant to read by a unfriendly font type, size and spacing. The couple next to us put on sunglasses to read the menu. Now the food. In order to serve japanese food it helps to know how japanese like to eat their food. Serving a sashimi dish with no sauce plate, or small plate to hold your fish over, instead of dripping soy sauce on the table was a bit disappointing. So, had to ask for a plate - the point being the staff should know whats required at the table with the dish. And the sashimi could have been cooled a bit more. It was too room temperature for my taste. The ginger salad, had no ginger and the lettuce pieces were too large for chopsticks. On the other hand the Viper roll was good and nicely presented, as were other rolls. The entire meal was overshadowed by music that was far too loud with a beat that thumped your chest. One of those places where the wait staff have to have you repeat things, and you practically have to yell at each other across the table to have a conversation. At these price points you end your meal paying a lot of money for average food, and you leave with a sore throat from having to talk over the music. We won't be back.

Menu variety, service, and food were outstanding. We had the sushi donut, edamame, short ribs, shrimp and grits, pork ramen, truffle miso soup, and the smoked salmon roll. They have great custom cocktails and mocktails. I was happy to see two choices for nonalcoholic beers. I loved the elevated flavors and spices. Koi has some unique offering you don’t always see at your typical Japanese venue. We had our kiddo and it was fine, but the atmosphere is definitely date night or friends night out. Music is loud and trendy. Spray paint wall art is super cool. It’s a must try!

We had a delightful experience. The sushi was fabulous. We enjoyed the HH prices and drinks. Then we ordered more sushi, the edamame was great with a nice kick to it. Our bartender was efficient and kind. Great atmosphere.

Spectacular sea bass! Cheers to the chef. Desserts were delicious. Waitress was really good, but I think she was overstretched. We loved our Koi experience overall - super fun ambiance - like a club, fine dining and a sports bar all rolled into one! Loved the fun decor, and the bathroom was super cool!

Music was overwhelming, too loud, not enjoyable. Not sure if staff can even communicate to the customer over the loud music. Fish was super fresh, waitress was on point.
