The menu differed from what you have posted. Much smaller, very disappointing
I would recommend this place for drinks and the view outside the patio. The food lacked flavor and did not taste fresh. We also came after a big group of people dining so they had a separate menu to accommodate the people dining in after that large party but still, the fish and brisket tacos tasted so bland and the flour tortilla was not fresh tasting anymore. It was $15 for 3 mini tacos with little cheese on top and pickled veggies. Servers were attentive though, that’s a plus! Oh, and the drinks were good.
We made reservations for a Friday night at 7:15pm only to show up and there was a sign saying seat yourself. So we sat down and waited for the busboy to clean our table. After reviewing the skimpy menu we got up and left as it was obvious this was not a 4 star restaurant. This is a bar that serves food. Not a sit down restaurant you may want to take a date to on a Friday evening.
Where is mu Opne Table credit. We were 30 minutes late due to the weather????
Really good appetizers. You need to get the guacamole. It's great. Lamb is good too and even the basics (breadsticks) are really good.
One of the best meals I’ve had in a while!
I book a reservation to celebrate Father's Day with my husband and was eager to enjoy a restaurant that was rated as the top 20 Best Restaurants for breakfast. There were only two tables with guests in this large restaurant. The ambiance was excellent. But the Eggs Benedict was just average, nothing to write home about. Our coffee was $4 a cup which tasted like basic drip coffee. Overall, the food was average set to an incredible atmosphere lending itself to being quite pricey for the taste. Wouldn't repeat the experience, unfortunately.
We made a reservation and our table was not available when we arrived there.
No one in the restaurant should have been a clue. Food was mediocre at best. My wife felt terrible upon leaving restaurant. We will NEVER do back there. Even service was poor, server almost forgot to bring water. For place being almost empty, service was slow.
Went during Valentine's, and the food took forever to come out, however it was really good. This Time, the food came out quick, however it was just average in taste. So I guess it is hit or miss with this place .
I was very underwhelmed. There wasn’t anyone but us doming for most of our visit and while our server was friendly, the service was lacking. We had a special occasion (graduation) that we had told them about in advance and there was no special set up or acknowledgement of the event. The food and menu was good and the atmosphere was nice.
Sorry to say my expectations were set too high from the menu and from the story of how this place became. I think the descriptions sounded much better than the product. Not bad but, just not great
Server was fantastic!
Came here on Mother's Day, and they weren't serving off the regular menu - buffet style instead. My wife and I paid $49 per person to basically eat a small plate of food with a small dessert. While we were seated promptly, it took over 10 minutes for a server to greet us. One of the waiters walked by us 4 separate times, and even though we were his table (as told by another waiter), he completely ignored us to pay attention to a larger group. Once we finally got a new waiter, who specifically said the other staff would have to deal with him taking over our table, we got some drinks and then barely saw him again. We finished our meals and had to bus our own plates from the table so we could get a small dessert. The service here was terrible and made what should have been a fun Mother's Day brunch a frustrating experience. We will never come back here.
We had a great Mother’s Day brunch at Knotty Deck & Bar. The staff were very friendly and they made us feel at home and not rushed.
We came to Knotty bar for a late night dinner (11pm). There wasn’t anyone there greeting so we were a little confused at first considering we made a reservation but also understanding considering we were eating so late. The patio area is huge and really pretty - would def come back to have a drink for happy hour there. We ended up sitting at the bar. The drinks were good and the food was good too. Overall good experience.
Stayed at hotel for a business conference. Knotty Deck was our only option for breakfast-extremely pleased with the food and service. We had bacon, eggs, hasbrowns, toast and pancakes. Everything was delicious! Highly recommend this place for breakfast!
Great food, nice view, good value.
I would not go back for Easter brunch. I didn’t care for the atmosphere in the back room. It was dated and the decor was lacking. For 45.00 per person, the food was not great. There were a few tasty dishes, but for the most part it was nothing spectacular.
Excellent food and service. Enjoyed the patio fire. Recommend add a good place after work or for a business meeting.
Breakfast was the meal eaten at this restaurant. The food and service were both very good, I would recommend this restaurant for breakfast. Although I did not eat other meals here, friends shared that their dinner was also very good at Knotty Deck & Bar.
Great venue, and the food was delicious! Wonderful for families and is easy to hear (i.e., good noise level). Will definitely be back many times.
One of our go-to places for weekend brunch. We're always able to get a reservation. The food is good and the portions are large. Sit by the window for a great view even in bad weather.
Good food. Nice environment.
Awaiting Open Table credit for the day. Good service.
Every time we eat here we are reminded we need to visit more often. The food is interesting and delicious and the outside deck can't be beat.
What a great surprise to find this place. It was our first visit and we didn’t really know what to expect...well, the food was absolutely fantastic. We will definitely be back.
So...the bad news first (there is a little good news). Here was our order...fried egg plant appetizer...cold, dry, inedible. We each took one bite and left it. Potato soup. Hmmm, not sure you can call it soup when it sticks to your spoon...more like mashed potatoes..tasty enough, but not warm and terrible texture. Next...waited an hour for main course...not exaggerating. The chairs were hard, the table metal, the atmosphere cold...super uncomfortable. Finally, my tacos come out, very dry, and cold and partners porkchop comes out, super dry and about 1/2inch fat.
Really unpleasant food. Server comes out right before we are getting ready to leave (before we get main dishes by the way)and apologizes to us, says she will talk to the manager, that they're down to 2 cooks and in the weeds and so sorry. Manager never (like, never) comes by, server says manager is going to comp the meal. That's the good news by the way. Here's the rub, normally that would be awesome, but the service and meal was so horrible, I would rather have paid 2x the value of that meal somewhere else and enjoyed Friday night date night. Here's the part that really roils me....I booked the reservation through open table because it was a 1000point table. Was far from my first choice, but we had had brunch there before and it was pretty good so I figured it was worth the night for the points.
AND THEY DIDNT REGISTER THE POINTS. I called and left message, still no points. Frankly, I would rather have paid for the horrible meal and got the points. Will not be going back. Do not recommend you try it. Way too many great places to waste money, time or points on Knotty. I am not only dissatisfied, I'm angry. No wonder they offer 1000 point tables, I dont know who else would go there unless some incentive. But buyer beware..they reneged.
I should say the peach desert was pretty good. Nothing to crave, but at least edible. Everything else subpar.
Food was absolutely delicious and service was great! Awesome food for a great price!
We order the wings and their famous award winning max &cheese The wings were good. The Mac and cheese went back as there was no cheese and they were milky.
The server was asked several times for lines and never brought them.
It was great ! The chef was very personable and made sure we enjoyed our food !
Note it is a territorial view from the first floor -- not sweeping or containing a lake or river. Service was fast and pleasant. For lunch, is really a bar, not a restaurant. Each of us (wife and I) had one item that was really, really good and one item that was OK, but not nearly as good as the companion item. For instance, I really liked how they prepared Brussel Sprouts with bacon, but my most-expensive-item-on-the-menu hamburger was behind on the ratio of taste to price. The beer and wine selection was small but had some good offerings (again, think a bar with food, not a restaurant with an alcohol license).
This is great place for a business meeting meal or a more quiet happy hour.
Waitress was unprofessional. Talked about brain farts never introduced herself. Food mediocre but expensive for what it was. Would not go back.
We had an outstanding experience in every sense. Knotty Deck and Bar deserves to be ranked among Austin's very best restaurants and we can't wait to return.
This is a great spot for weekend brunch or lunch. Very quiet and excellent service. I had the BLTE and a side salad and both were wonderful. I've had the mimosas in the past and they are worth every penny. The restaurant has a great view off the deck, and there is easy access through the beautiful Renaissance Hotel. Check out the decor, furniture and lighting!
Drinks were good. Service was incredibly slow considering it was a Monday and there weren't a lot of people at the restaurant. We ordered the Charcuterie plate and there was mold on our cheese. Made me not want to eat the other dishes we ordered that had cheese in it as well.
Queso was good as was the Shishito peppers but it took very long for our server to come and take drink orders and we had to ask someone else for the next round of drinks.
Very disappointed dined there for NYE checked their website etc to see if special menu and Nothing. But got there any very limited menu the dish we went there for was NOT offered. Not the experience we had hoped for. The wine was also old & tasted terrible.
We decided to dine out for Christmas dinner this year. While other fine dining places offered an $85 pp dinner The Knotty Deck had a 3 course Christmas dinner for $40 pp. it was an easy choice, especially with free easy parking.
The dining room is very nice with plenty of room between tables and a long bar.
There were 2 selections for each course, the chefs salad was very nice with a mix of nuts, red lettuce, and other veggies. We chose the prime rib with sweet potato, carrots and asparagus, all were cooked to perfection. In particular the beef (medium rare) was really tender and very tasty. Desserts were ok but not up to the standard of the other courses.
The service was excellent and made the whole experience a real pleasure.
It was fine. I thought it was decent value and the server was great about my dietary restrictions. The place was a little worn, chairs and linens looked well used.
