Knife Steakhouse - Plano
Bread was a big disappointment for the expense of the meal. Dessert choice not good, too exotic.
For the right occasion, Knife would be fine. However, particularly for the price point involved, I think that there are better values not too far away.
Service/Employees were Great...didn't too much enjoy our steaks that we were recommended. They both did not have any flavor...however the sides were good.
Love the Knife in the Highland. This one is overpriced compared to the atmosphere and quality of food. Steak was overcooked. Definitely not a high end steakhouse. Should not charge the prices like one.
Excellent service, fantastic management, outstanding food.
Steak was tasty but should have been for the price. Sides were average at best. Dessert was ok presentation was not impressive at all. More to come on that. Atmosphere was ok. Nothing great. Service was weak. Wait person did not seem to be having a great day. Did not give a good explanation at all. We ordered an aged steak for 2. I expected a decent presentation, instead it came out sliced up in a pile with red juice all over a large plate. My wife doesn’t like it near that rare but we started eating because the person didn’t return. Finally she did and took hers back to finish. By the time it came back I was about done. Drinks were hit and miss. Bread came out after flagging the guy down. We ordered a dessert that probably would have looked good until she dropped it on the table and things went scattering on the plate. With an oops she left dropped off a couple spoons and left. All in all, not impressed. Back to Nick and Sams or Pappas.
I had a much better experience at lunch than at dinner. I liked everything I’ve tried there EXCEPT the steak. It was unevenly cooked, chewy, and under seasoned.
Food was great as usual as was the service.
Phenomenal steak. This is where you start when you are at a steak place, and it was done extremely well. In fact, everything was done extremely well - salad, bacon, steak, and creamed spinach were all top notch. The only thing off was our second side and it was removed from the ticket, so we are all good. The service was attentive and very thorough is helping and assisting us with our order, but the service was just slightly off. The main course was brought out with all sides and neither my wife nor I had been give replacement forks or our steak knives. There were a couple hic-ups like this. Nothing that would keep me from coming back, based on the food, but just not what you would expect at the price point.
Food was good and service was fine. They are slow. As empty as they are surprised at how slow they were.
Limited menu at brunch but we figured it out. $125 tab and no drinks or dessert as we walked out....very pricey. It’s not THAT good.
They didn’t even acknowledge that it was my birthday. Meh.
We had a great experience and “good” food. However, the great experience and tastiness of the food did not justify the expense.
Every time I have been here they standout above the expectation.
Big short rib melts in your mouth it was so tender I never had such a short rib in my life. Fillet was outstanding.
And the Creekstone aged Sirloin is my all time favorite.
Service of this restaurant is what makes you feel special.
Over all we had a good experience and yes I am coming back again.
I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Food was exceptional. Asked for a larger table. Hostess said they were all booked with reservations but we were there for 2 hours and no one ever sat at them. At least 6-8 visibly open. Server was awesome. Support staff not so much. Never got offered bread by person walking around. Maybe because we were in the corner which was one reason we wanted to move to another table but the answer was no.
Truly super steaks with their aging process making them very tender and tasty. The surprise for us was the Caesar salad which one can order with "slabs of different bacon" that then is cut so everyone can take some of each. Excellent service and nice environment. For the what one gets and that it can feed 2-3 people, their prices are in line.
Small crowd on Thursday evening. Friendly knowledgeable wait staff. Food was very good. I got petite filet and the creamed spinach. Husband got pork chop. I also tried the 5 variety bacon which was so good. Husband enjoyed his oysters. Only complaint would be that it took a while to get main course after appetizer...but food was so good it made up for the wait. Will definitely return.
David, our waiter, and Te, the bartender, were awesome! They were both super knowledgeable about their menus. We started off at the bar and had a few rounds of drinks - Te offered us a special cocktail that he made himself, and everyone loved it. David is a gem - not being much of a red meat eater (the only one in the group) he provided alternatives for me that were both thoughtful and delicious. From the cocktails to the bacon flight to the entrees and dessert, we loved it all and will definitely be back!
One of the best restaurants - just 1 concern - I wanted to order the roasted chicken but it is an hour & a half wait! Please let me know the best solution if I want to order my next visit.
Food and service was nice. Sound level was very high. Great service.
Always love this place. Food is "great... not just good..." small touches likesmall dessert with bill; take home muffins for next morning; relish tray and choice of bread adds a lot. My steak ($25 flat iron) was a tad salty this time but I think it was the au jus. The sides are amazing... I don't want to know the calories. Husband's tuna steak great as well! Sitting at the counter is a treat getting to watch the chefs at work.
Fabulous time. We were celebrating my husband's birthday. Jordan made it extra special. Was very attentive and the co owner even stopped by twice. Clean, spacious, low noise level and the food was superb!!!
Great place and food
This was my first visit, but definitely not my last. The interior of this place is beautiful. The artwork was amazing, the table setting was perfect, and the service was impressive. There was a slight mix up with the reservation, but it was a non-issue thanks to the hostess and wait staff. I ordered the King Crab and a side salad, which I ate all of because, yum! I LOVED the mint for dessert. Be careful of the edible ink, you'll look like you chewed a pen.
The food here is incredible! My daughter is in pastry school, so I searched far and wide for a restaurant with an impressive dessert menu (not to mention, a superb main course menu) and Knife was top of the list.
The atmosphere was modern, yet cozy, and the food was absolutely perfectly cooked and DELICIOUS. I also went to cooking school, so usually I am disappointed when going out to eat, but Knife did NOT leave me feeling that way whatsoever.
I also have to give a shout out to managers Trey and George who made my daughter’s birthday an exceptional one.
We will definitely be back!
It was a typical fabulous experience and we remain big fans. Thanks John - your team is great!
Tried Knife out...first clue should’ve been that we were able to get right in, no wait at 7pm on a Saturday night.
We sat at the bar and our service was less than average. One Bartender was overworked and the second guy there seemed to forget orders and neither of them had much of a personality.
We ordered a sirloin for two....and it was completely bland and void of any taste. Temperature was also less than medium rare that we ordered...it was a large steak, but if you offer it, you should know how to cook it.
We ordered the roasted Brussels and they were also bland and boring.
The Mac and cheese was good.
We were never offered desert so who knows?
Overall, this was a unfortunate meal and I wouldn’t recommend it.
This was our third visit to Knife. Our first two visits we thought the food and service were exceptional. So we chose Knife to celebrate my husband's birthday thinking the food and service would again be exceptional. It was not. The service was poor and the food was mediocre at best The steak was good but not outstanding which is what would be expected of a $90 steak. We ordered butternut squash and brussel sprouts as sides. The butternut squash was presented simply sliced in half and waiter did not offer to serve either side for us. The brussel sprouts were so overly salted and burned that we could barely eat them. And even though we indicated that it was my husbands birthday on the reservation and they mentioned it at the hostess stand, the waiter made no acknowledgement or recognition of it. Sadly, we will not be returning to Knife anytime soon.
I had requested a quiet booth when I made the reservations 2 days prior, but they put us in the noisier section of the restaurant even though I asked to be moved.
Service was very slow on our drinks and then they billed us for a drink we didn’t order.
The steak was overcooked and too salty.
The portions are small and the prices are big.
The desserts were fabulous but also small portions.
Server was very professional.
Our first experience at Knife made for a nice evening celebrating a birthday with good friends. Overall we were pleased with the food and ambiance. What keeps this from a 5-star review was that the service was not worthy of a high end restaurant.
As far as the food...we had the bacon jam sliders and some salads served family style...excellent all around as were the cocktails. Steaks were uniformly great; loved the dry-aged beef . Desserts were also wonderful; we tried them all.
As for the service; it wasn’t that it was bad ; just not good enough. The server himself was good and pleasant and did a nice job explaining the menu. However, we waited quite awhile for bread, finished plates were not cleared and dessert and coffee were not brought out at the same time.
Still , we had a nice evening and would be happy to return.
This was our first visit and based on media reviews we had high expectations that it was one of the best new steakhouses. The steaks (filets) were good, but neither were cooked to the correct temperature and weren't what I would consider the best in town. Service started out great and the server was very knowledgable and a really good salesperson, but as the restaurant got busier the server had too many tables and our service was much slower. I also don't recommend sitting next to the window when it's colder outside -- you'll need to wear a jacket during your meal because of the draft. I do like the open kitchen where you can see the chefs performing their skills.
First time at Knife. Steak was outstanding. Wedge Salad was way overdressed. Pasta some of best ever. Will certainly be back.
Sometimes you just know when you’re about to have a fantastic meal. And this is one of those spots. The BIG short ribs were to die for!!! Get them- you won’t regret it!! The crab gratin was awesome as well as the lobster/crab entrees. The alcoholic cider drink was really really good! Such a cool spin on a drink! Ambiance was nice! They had really cool chalk art all over the restaurant! All the staff that waited on us were friendly and helpful!! We will 1000% be back again.
Knife never disappoints, finally strayed from the steaks and had some of the best lamb and crab I've ever had.
Love our dinner at Knife and look forward to going back again. All of the steaks we had were wonder from from the flat iron, to the rib eye & two filets. What was also outstanding is the non-steak items. We had the yellow tail as an appetizer and it was light and refreshing, a great way to start a meal that may be a little heavier before it's over. Also, the black ink pasta with spicy crab is something I would order over and over.
Absolutely top notch experience and food! Best steak I’ve had at a restaurant. And our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive.
Private room is quiet and enjoy as a private dining
The food and staff were awesome. We did have a hard time hearing each other but not because it was crowded. The acoustics are not great for conversation. The concrete floors and ceiling are not conducive to sound absorption. The sound echoes around the room badly. It didn't make for a bad experience overall and we'd definitely recommend the place. Ask for a tour of the aging room!
Terrible. The hostesses were rude. We waited forever for our drinks. We were served butter, but no bread. My second drink was the wrong wine. I ordered Prosecco. My fish was under cooked. My husband’s steak was over cooked. The drinks were skimpy, not a good pour. The manager was rude. Your prices are ridiculously high.
The waiter was good. We tipped him generously.
We will not be returning.
Music was loud for conversation
We were very disappointed in this restaurant. My daughter wanted a nice steak for her 13th birthday. For the price of the food it was not worth it at all. The side were not good and the messed up our order twice. The service was sub-par as well. If you are wanting a great steak house for the same price go to Nick and Sam's. The service there is one in a million and the food is 1000% better. I would not waste your money at Knife.
