Kitchen in the Desert is a Caribbean and New American restaurant located just outside the Twentynine Palms entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. We pride ourselves in making high quality food from scratch using fresh ingredients and providing a comfortable environment to enjoy it in. This place is great fun and works well for a small intimate gathering or a big group on a giant table. Best peach pancakes we've ever had. We've been there a few times now and every time we get something different and it's always great.

Kitchen In The Desert was an ideal dining experience. From the honest service to the flavour profiles in each dish. Very impressive menu and delicious cocktails. We went back again for the second night of our trip as it was so good. Highly recommend.

This is a quirky restaurant on the outskirts of Twetynine Palms. Ther dishes were original and delicious although slightly on the small side. We had a nice outside table. The music level was loud, which would have been problematical if we hadn't been able to secure an outside table.

We had reservations but arrived quite early and our group of 8 was seated right away. The service and food were both great. Our only complaint was that there was quiet music when we were seated which was perfect to talk easily and enjoy your company. The music was then turned up quite a bit. Our table was right next to a speaker. The restaurant was not very busy being a Monday night but the owner refused to turn the music down.. We left sooner than we normally would have but maybe that was the restaurant’s end game. We were visiting the area but will definitely not return to Kitchen in the Desert on our next trip.

Incredible place. We are vegetarian and half of the menu is vegetarian friendly. Everything we had was delicious. Our server Doug was very friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about the restaurant. Will definitely be back on our next visit!

This place gets a 10/10 for food deliciousness, ambiance, and attentive service. My two brothers and I enjoyed all the tapas style plates recommended to us by our waiter, Douglas. We had the lamb pops, jerk chicken, shiitake mushrooms, smash burger, sweet plantains, and tortilla de patata. For dessert, we shared the key lime pie, and the blackberry pie. The Espresso Martini and Moscow Mule cocktails were delicious!

Not worth the hype for the “cool vibe”. We had reservations and there were empty tables when we arrived but they still had us sit and wait for 20 min before seating us. The service was unbelievably slow - I only got one glass of water the whole meal despite repeatedly asking for a refill. The food was very mediocre for the price, and not at all satisfactory. In the end, we canceled our dessert order bc they were taking too long and went to Coldstone Creamery instead - best decision

We've been coming to the Joshua Tree area regularly for the last couple of years, but somehow had not heard of Kitchen in the Desert until recently. Wow, are we glad we finally did and tried it! We drove from Joshua Tree which took about 25 minutes, and it was worth every second. We arrived at dusk and were immediately taken by the charm of the outdoor space. The hostess was friendly and enthusiastic and led us to a lovely table. The music was fantastic and our server was with us in a few minutes, but apologized for having kept us waiting, although we had been completely happy taking in the views around and looking over the menu. We each had a cocktail (a negroni and a dirty martini) and both were delicious. We shared the steak, green salad and mushrooms - all perfection. We finished up with a piece of key lime pie - the best either of us had ever tasted. Our server was totally on the ball, friendly, funny, sharp, and, like the hostess, totally enthusiastic about the restaurant. Rightly so! Kitchen in the Desert is a very special place. So much so that we are going back again tonight! We only get out to the High Desert every few months and didn't want to have to wait that long to enjoy this great spot again.

The place is a cross between an exotic high-end tapas restaurant and a toned-down Burning Man festival. The outdoor seating is attractive, the menu is full of amazing discoveries, and the staff is efficient and a bit quirky. I recommend the Shitake mushroom and the lamb lollipops.

Beautiful outdoor experience,enjoyed our drinks while we watched the sunset. Server was amazing, friendly, informative but not overly chatty. We ordered the Jerk Chicken, Smash Burger and the Lamb pops, every plate was cooked to perfection with burst of well rounded flavor profiles. Can’t say enough about this place, food, staff and over all vibe. Definitely will be a returning customer.

We love the ambiance and the food, we went for Sunday Brunch and had to chase the shade. Although we looked at the menu before deciding to make reservations, we had sticker shock when the bill arrived. Breakfast bowl, jerk chicken, pear pancakes, mimosa, tea, and soda came to $103, without tip. The food was amazing and I would return next time I’m in town. I’d like to go back after the sun has set and the lights are on.
