Kisumé, a pure obsession with beauty - is a contemporary experience that’s built on duality. It’s where the traditionalist and the modern artist meet. Our cuisine draws on the purity of Japanese food culture and injects it with a uniquely Australian sensibility. Here, each visit will be different from the last: Kisumé is a journey that constantly evolves.

Find us in the heart of Flinders Lane, a stones throw from Flinders Street Station and Federation Square, and discover three levels of dining. Our modern sushi bar and restaurant sit in the basement and ground floor, while Kuro Kisumé sits discreetly on the first level. Kuro, our most bespoke experience, encompasses The Table, two private dining rooms, an elegant Chablis bar and Winewall specially-curated by Philip Rich.

First visit but would definitely think of coming back on another special occasion (it is on the expensive side - $19.50 for half a small long eggplant with miso was probably the extreme). The menu is interesting with various categories to choose from. Our waiter suggested 10 dishes for 4 of us and that was the right amount (it left no room for dessert, and they did look interesting....).

The table we were given was in a cramped area in front of the serving staff counter, directly about the music speaker which was too loud. Terrible ambience, noisy.

Food was beyond amazing and service was fantastic. We were seated in the back corner, but if I had my time again I'd be up at the bar seating watching the chefs!
Was a little pricey, but worth the money for a delicious meal just may not be a regular event!

Great food - Wagyu truffles, kakiage and yuzu/miso sardines were highlights (just to name a few!) Great combination of flavours, with creative twists, but managing to highlight the ingredients very nicely. Good service, buzzing atmosphere. Very steep mark-ups on the wines, which is probably the only negative - we took it as an opportunity to try the sake range instead. Overall, an excellent experience.

Beautiful food, great ambience, attentive service. A very pleasant night out- if you only want to spend two hours! I really hate the way our restaurants frog march diners through a 9 course tasting menu in an hour and a half. Kisume is not alone in this of course but it does take away from an otherwise faultless dining experience.

We have a fantastic lunch experience. The food and service were amazing. The only criticism I can give is that the drinks are overpriced.

Such an average experience. No ambience, no customer service and not worth the expense. Wouldn’t recommend it when there are plenty of other better options.
Best part was the whisky

Went for a business dinner with some overseas clients. Food was great, service fantastic. We had a larger table in our own space in the restaurant which was excellent for us. The set menu was good value. Make sure you end the meal with a Saki!

i had a very enjoyable meal however have one criticism of the fish dish served on 120.00 pp menu. i found this dish very disappointing and almost inedible. The fish itself was delightful the sauce with it spoilt the dish.

I usually really enjoy coming to Kisumé but the service we had today was subpar. The waiter assigned to our table was a little too overbearing. Initially he advised that we order 12-15 dishes for a party of 6. We instead ordered what we thought would be enough for us (7 dishes). It turned out to be plenty but he kept suggesting for us to order more food even after we told him multiple times that we had enough. To be honest, his act got very annoying toward the end of the meal. I will think twice about coming again.

- Great service from the waitress to the person serving us the food at the bar. She really knew all the dishes and had a great vibe that made our experience great.
- Bathroom was gross so it lost its ambience for sure after going in their unisex bathroom.
- The chefs were great to watch at the bar.
Overall it was good to check it out at least once. The food was a bit above average for sure.

Booked a table seating, but was seated at the bar.
Food standard was good but I wouldn't necessarily return to this restaurant as the standard of service does not reflect the pricing overall.
Waitress neglected to show the bottle of wine to ensure this was the wine we had ordered and just poured the wine.
Miso was served with lid removed and quickly became lukewarm.
Too many menus handed and items listed for a lunch service.

Great food good service however the table that was reserved for us was next to the front door and with a table next to us having a young child made it a very challenging business dinner

Atmosphere ok, long & confusing walk to the toilets, food delicious but sparse, and service efficient but cold. Also waiting staff went missing when it was time to pay and I was left standing at the register for some minutes before a staff member reappeared. Am in no rush to go back, but judging by the number of people dining, I might be in the minority.

Excellent attention to detail in both food and service.
I sent Kisume a message as part of the booking asking them to place a candle on the desert as it was my girlfriends birthday which they did. Further, every member of staff that greeted us on arrival wished her a happy birthday.
Food was great. Drinks list extensive and unique. The Kisume/4 Pillars Gin collaboration a highlight.

While the food was amazing, the service let it down badly. We waited an hour in-between our first and second course. When we queried the waiter he said 'oh yes, I forgot to let the kitchen know you were ready for your mains', he said in such a blasé, I don't give a damn way, that it's all we can remember about our experience. The table eated long after us had eaten way before us. While I had heard from friends that the service wasn't up to scratch I thought this may have changed, sadly it hadn't. Pity, as the food was great.

We we're lucky enough to sit down a sushi counter to taste Omakase menu (10pcs + miso soup and a small dish) .
Sushi was prepared one by one not only using freshest fish but with a twist. You don't need to dip it in the soy sauce. It's all prepared for you. You just pick it up with your finger and enjoy the taste! Shari(rice) was also beautifully prepared. They were all served at it's best. We enjoyed their sushi very much!
