Kiran's Ratings and Reviews
We were a party of 4 @ 7:00 pm. Traditional Indian dishes were over priced compared to quality/$$ available in other Houston restaurants. We had wanted nan and lentils ahead of our meal but everything arrived at once and took to long (finished a bottle of white wine with no food of any kind on the table). In general, I would say the the service was not up to the level that they are trying to attain with this restaurant. The front entrance is not identified and the valet stand is around the corner of the building and easy to drive past! Just a few of the little things that have not been well thought-out. Keep trying but I will give it a year before returning.
This is a over hyped Restaurent with some really bad service. The waiter who attended us was rude and sarcastic. When we had questions on Champaign he was like that is costly this is cheaper look at this one .All we wanted was feedback on how the taste would be .He was rude and did a very bad job .I could see few of the tables were taken care of very well may be they are regular customers or else someone whom the owner Kiran knows personally. I went there for valentine’s day and was worst experience.I would strongly suggest not to go there for any special occasion.Food was mediocre nothing special which justified the high price fixed menu.Overall was not satisfied with the experience .
This was my second visit to Kiran. I was very much impressed the first time but this time it was just OK. They have great ambiance and good food but the service was not very good. Servers were lacking energy and they took way too much time to bring every single course. I would certainly come again but this time it was average. Buckle up guys. I like you guys and expect excellent overall service every single time
Kiran's is always exceptional. Chef Kiran is a culinary genius! The new location is convenient, clean, bright and spacious. I always recommend Kiran's to my friends when they ask me for restaurant recommendations. If you haven't been you are really missing out on this gem of one of Houston's restaurant elite.
We had a wonderful night here, the food and service were outstanding. Only issue was we had to wait about 30-40 minutes for our table, which we reserved but the previous guests were staying longer than anticipated. I’m sure because it’s such a great experience they just didn’t want to leave ;) Thank you Chef Kiran for the beautifully crafted food!
Service, Food & atmosphere all hyped. We had bookings however were seated almost 30 min late despite having arrived well ahead of time.
Service was awful and we almost walked out. I don't think we will ever go back unless we have to.
Food was no great shakes either. this place is all hyped to primarily cater to tastes other than to the Indian persons palate - Kirans used to be one of our favorites for the unusual touches to the food she gave, so despite slow service, we went regularly for the awesome food.
No longer great food - just mediocre.
pls note - I DO NOT WANT TO BE CONTACTED BY THE RESTAURANT OR ANYONE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER.
this review is primarily for your other Subscribers to not make the mistake that my friends and now we have made ever since the new location has opened. we were consistently hearing negative things but wanted to try it out for ourselves before we passed any judgement.
This was my third visit to Kiran"s. As usual the food, ambiance and decor were exceptional. The thing that always distracts from my enjoyment is the service. It's just small things but they do make a difference. My server disappearing for a lengthy period, spilling while filling my glass with out any acknowledgement, not knowing the difference between butter chicken and chicken tikka masala or not putting the entirety of my leftovers in my to go bag; these are not major offenses but they do help me feel underappreciated as a customer. Since the food is so stellar I can't help but expect the service to be so as well.
Great food and ambience. A bit pricey for Indian food but service and environment is first class. Fun craft cocktails!
We had samosas ( delish) and some other appetizer with lentils and pomegranate which was meh.
Butter chicken and chicken korma both excellent and nice portion sizes. Would definitely go back
This was our first time in the new location. We had a hard time figuring out how parking works or where the actual entrance to restaurant was located. You can park in the garage & they will validate or valet a couple of doors down on a side street and walk to the restaurant with no covered walk. A waiter saw us searching for the entrance and came out to show us the door. While my lamb shank was superb my husband had GULF SNAPPER
jumbo lump crab, Texas wild mushrooms, orzo, peppers, parsley. Not a word on the menu prepared us for a creamy crab sauce drenched over the fish.
This was our first time eating at Kirans.s. We have known and read about the chef and the restaurant for years. We had a 7 course tasting menu both Vegetarian and Fusion inspired.
The spices were very well matched with the food in intensity and taste. This made the meal absolutely one of the most tasty delights I have ever had. Not too strong in flavor or too light
this was my best Indian inspired/infused food there is. My wife the Vegetarian agreed.
WE will come back in the very near future.
I have requested to have a comfortable table for a friend's birthday dinner. And yet,
we were brought to a table by the doorway near the front door where people go by
when there were plenty of tables left in the rooms. My friend is a frequent customer
immediately asked for another table.
The food and service were great. There was a large group of ladies celebrating a birthday or shower next to us that were very loud. They definitely detracted from our enjoyment. We should have asked to move to another table but kept thinking they were about through but then the place filled up and there were no vacant tables.
It started with the server recommending the cod tikka. When it came it was the chicken. The server said "oh this is chicken not fish". He then said " I told them fish" Then said "but the chicken is good why don't you try it". Then put a piece on my plate. We kept it.
Then the venison and the duck entrees were both over cooked. They were way past well done.
First and last time to dine here.
