King & Queen Cantina - San Diego
I will definitely be back ! Great food , amazing service , fun atmosphere !
Amazing service, food, drinks, and ambiance! Celebrated my birthday here with a group of 15+ and our waitress and entire staff couldn’t have been more attentive and accommodating!
Unique menu of food and drink options, but very good. Cool decor and atmosphere.
We had a great time at King And Queen Cantina. The tacos were amazing. Daisy was our waitress, and she went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect. We will definitely be back.
Food was delicious and server daisy was outstanding!
If you are just a bar food kind of person that is hungry for Mexican fare this might be something interesting. Not a comebacker for us.
Food was disappointing. My dish was extremely salty.
Great location and festive vibe! Great food options
Great atmosphere! Fun and a little bit loud but good food. Great for a Date, party or drinks with friends.
Service was A+ (We had multiple people ask if we needed anything, clearing off dirty plates, etc.)
Decor was exceptional as well. Great night out
The staff were fun and friendly. The food was really good, but overpriced for what you get. Fun place. Good drinks.
Excellent food and good atmosphere!
Very delicious Tacos and drink. Mango Habanero Martini was out of this world. Korean taco and Tinga taco were awesome. But $15 for 3 tacos is highway robery. Music was super loud. Service was great, place really neat. Definetly visit at least once
Came here for a work function, service was poor and we waited a long time for beverage and to order food. Food was very good when it did arrive, but it seemed like the employees were trying to lengthen the dining/drink process to get us to stay past the happy hour. My colleague approached the hostess each time, who ensured us that there was sufficient staff. Our boss waited 30 minutes for a drink, most of us just had one beverage because of how long it took. Would not recommend this restaurant with the competition of other great spots in the area.
Side note, there's an awful smell that hits you by the front door, I don't know if they just emptied their grease trap that day or what, but when we were waiting for our table that wasn't ready despite our reservation, it just stunk like a public restroom by the hostess stand.
Food and atmosphere were great! Service was awesome! I feel bad I forgot our waitresses name but she was amazing! Was there for Sunday brunch and she was great with a party of 10 this past weekend! When we come back to SD we will definitely be stopping by again!
Love it !!! Always good service
The food is always on point! There are a lot of interesting options and of course margaritas.
The food was amazing--excellent ceviche-both fish and shrimp. Our group also had the veggie tacos, chicken enchiladas, whole fish, and fish tacos and it was all exceptionally delicious.
Wait staff was above average but not great. They forgot one of our main dishes and 1 member of our party was without his dinner for most of the evening. It did finally come with apology but not with any type of compensation (no dessert or discount).
The main complaint and the reason I could not recommend this place to everyone and why I would hesitate to return is the super loud ( like ear splittingly loud) music. There is no place where it is not just blasting.
The food is amazing, the décor is fine. The music is way too loud.
Great food and service - our server was super kind. One tip - be sure to ask that your food be brought out at the same time as they tend to serve it as it's ready, which can be awkward. Other than that - this place rocks!!
We had a table of 11 and they crammed us into a high top on the bar, next to a bachelorette party of 12 screaming women. 4 people had to stand up for one person to get out to go to the bathroom and we couldn't hear each other talking without yelling. So much for a nice birthday dinner with friends.
Positive ! Bday
Great find in Little Italy. They’re open late (we went on a Saturday with a reservation for 11:30pm) which includes the kitchen and happy hour was still going on.
We ordered all appetizers which included:
-Pork belly bites
-Tinga chicken taquitos
Everything we ordered was amazing and actually filled us both up! My husband and I were dancing along with the music while eating our food. It was that good. The sauces the dishes came with were incredible and really made the dishes.
Great views at the top. It’s partially outdoors. We sat next to the window with a view of the street. My only cons are that its a little pricey, was too dark where we were seated so we needed our phone for light and it’s louder than I’d like. We had to borderline yell to each other to be able to hear during our conversations.
But I still loved it. I’ve already raved about this place and recommended 👍🏽
Great casual Sunday brunch spot to hang with friends. The service was great from the hostess to waiter. Try one of their refreshing margaritas, especially the cucumber one it was so refreshing for the hot weather!
While the food was very good and the service quick and friendly, the music was so loud that we ended up canceling our desert and leaving.
We made a request to lower it when we first arrived and the server said that they get complaints all the time but the manager never lowers it because they want it to feel like a real cantina “where you can talk about anything with your friends and not worry about anyone else overhearing.”
What? That’s ridiculous.
She also said the neighbors are constantly comparing. I bet.
It felt like a nightclub with the lights on too high. There was a man in a lucha libre mask pouring tequila down people’s throats.
Is this still Little Italy, or are we in PB?
The manager came to our table after we cancelled our desert to basically explain why they keep the music so loud. He thinks the locals love it. I give six more months.
Needless to say, we won’t be returning.
Love this place. My new favorite in SD. Great local vibe, beautiful art, delicious margaritas and good food. Highly recommend.
We love the services.. Food its delisiosa thank you
Brought family here for dinner as we are vacationing in San Diego. Was one of our best meals. Great Mexican food, excellent service and Family friendly!
We saw an article in the “Locale” magazine and the picture of the food looked awesome. We had to try it. Everything we had was EXCELLENT. Great scene, great food, great service. My wife has Ciliac and she has to eat “gluten” free. Your menu accommodated her needs. Our waitperson was fabulous. We will come back and are already telling everybody we know about it.
Lively place. Food is good. Very hot and stuffy in back of the venue
We ate at the bar and the bartenders are nonstop. Was fun to watch. Food was good but the pork mole did on the chocolate tortillas was bland. Needed something ... shaved chocolate, a bit of cayenne ... a richer mole ...??? Would go again.
The sauces that they use on the food are amazing! Make sure to try the lime sauce (they bring a small squeeze bottle to the table with some dishes)! It is a delight!!!
Horrible service...took forever to get a refills and a 2nd beer. Server that took our drink order disappeared and then after awhile another gal came over after being flagged down. Our food came out staggered so we didn’t all get to eat together. Once we finished eating, we waited for another 20+ minutes for someone to walk by and send a server over to bring the check. Overall the service here is lacking in every sense of the word. I should add that when we arrived our table of 5 was ready and a very cordial young man in an interesting suit and top hat greeted us and took us to our table. That was the highlight of the dinner!
We had such a great meal here one night, we went back a few nights later with a friend. One of my favorite discoveries of the last few years.
Got there right on time for our reservation, waited a good 10 minutes to be seated even though tables were available all over. Once seated took another 15 minutes for a waiter to come over and take the order. We ordered drinks and some appetizers, we got these fairly fast but once they arrived someone from our party noticed a huge hair in one of the appetizers, took a good 25 minutes to signal down the waiter to let him know about it and we decided to leave after that. Super disspointed we had big expectations as we were celebrating a birthday. Ended up in a great place around the corner and had a great dinner.
Food was great and service was amazing but it was LOUD! There was no way to hold a normal conversation without raising your voice and there was only three of us at a four top. Not only was it bumping just in general there were several instances were the volume got even louder to the point it was excessive.
Now I understand it was a Friday evening but the volume was worse than being in club and it was before 10PM. I would probably go back and see if the ambiance was better at different time but definitely not a place to eat if you are also looking to have a conversation.
Drinks and food were fairly priced and delicious and service was quite attentive when they could here us. There were several times when we couldn't get the attention of our server due to the volume. I know I sound like a cranky, senior citizen complaining about the volume but it was just too much.
Food was delicious. I had the taco special that comes with the avocado, short rib, korean and surf and turf tacos and finished every bite. The pork belly in the Korean taco could have been a bit more flavorful but the other three I would definitely order again. Had the paloma which was very refreshing on a warm San Diego evening. Definitely try out the dessert menu, had the creme brûlée cheesecake and was almost tempted to order a second one it was so good plus they caramelize the sugar table side which was a fun experience.
Me and my girlfriend had a great experience at King and Queen. The food selection was creative and unique. We ordered the seafood fajitas which came with salmon, octopus, shrimp and calamari. It was a fantastic combination that came with a wide assortment of vegetables. To be honest, it was the best fajita I had ever had. The waitresses and servers were also very nice people with a calm, down-to-earth demeanor. They don't just hire anyone. Highly recommended place.
Loved the atmosphere. Fun place and food was good. Waiter very good and gave great recommendations
Newly added to the list of restaurants in Little Italy, King & Queen Cantina is an agreeable stop for fun, and adventurous drinks with a Mexican-inspired twist. The food, however, falls a little flat of the expectations set by neighboring restaurants and Mexican food in San Diego overall. K/Q Cantina makes an attempt at modern Mexican plates but the execution needs improvement. Hopefully as they grow they can hone in the skills to provide more well-rounded dishes.
Their drinks are delicious and original. The ambiance and decor is amazing. The music was eclectic just like the cool decor.
Great food and atmosphere. Looking forward to a return trip!
