King & Queen Cantina - San Diego
Newly added to the list of restaurants in Little Italy, King & Queen Cantina is an agreeable stop for fun, and adventurous drinks with a Mexican-inspired twist. The food, however, falls a little flat of the expectations set by neighboring restaurants and Mexican food in San Diego overall. K/Q Cantina makes an attempt at modern Mexican plates but the execution needs improvement. Hopefully as they grow they can hone in the skills to provide more well-rounded dishes.
Their drinks are delicious and original. The ambiance and decor is amazing. The music was eclectic just like the cool decor.
Great food and atmosphere. Looking forward to a return trip!
My sisters birthday... had an amazing time..., Sam was fun and energetic! amazing food & service!!
Second time eating at King and Queen Cantina and the food/service was really great once again. Our table of 4 ordered a bunch of items: pork belly + octopus, sashimi, shisito peppers, tacos assortments, margarita assortments, and everything was delicious (as was the first time).
Great place to get together with friends and share tasty food!
Awesome service, awesome food, awesome vibe, even better margaritas
Amazing food, ambiance! Every time I come to San Diego I come here!!!!
I was happy we could sit outside. Inside it would have been to noisy to entertain a discussion. Great service.
Not crazy about the place. Checked in with a reservation at 5:00 (moved up because of the Fourth of July activities going on downtown) and waited while large walk up party was trying to be accommodated. The hostess was busy talking to the group at the hostess stand and not assisting anyone else behind them. Not a great first impression!
The food was quite good...once it came. Server not very attentive And when we were ready to leave, couldn’t be seen or found for ten minutes.
If it weren’t for the decent, well prepared good, probably wouldn’t return or recommend. ☹️
Great food and drinks. Absolutely would recommend if meeting friends for a drink and a bite.
Tasty Mexican food
Thank you... Your service was amazing, food was delicious presentation excellent every was good... Gracias
We've lived here in little Italy for 9 years and have seen this location attempt 3 restaurants. This is by far the best and has quickly become one of our favorite spots. Food is amazing and pretty unique (as well as your usuals) and staff is very friendly.
My Wife and I had the their taco Flight and some fish tacos and the food was amazing. Haven't had a real good taco like that in a while. Also the Drinks were good, my wife got the Margarita and I had a Blood Mary.
One con was my friend ordered a Sushi Roll there and they had Soy Suace, but no Wasabi.
I would definitely recommend.
Fun place, great music, and great food! Drinks were awesome - each one was like an entrée. Appetizers were good, and entrees were very well received by all in our group. I had Cueva, which was excellent!!
Food delicious. Fish and chips is served as whole fish, vicious. Delicate white fish. Gun place. Cadillac margaritas yummy.
After following King and Queen Cantina on IG for months and months, we decided to drive up from Riverside County (about an hour and a half) and give it a try for my Father-In-Laws Birthday. Well worth the drive and so happy we made the trek. There were 7 of us and we all ordered something different, I few of us had multiple items. We also sampled all over the specialty cocktail menu. We were thrilled each time the server arrived to our table. Sipping and passing. Forking across the table. Drooling over the items the other servers carried past. All smiling and licking our chops. Vibe, service, flavor all hit the mark. Definite Foodie Desination. We will be back.
We were on vacation for our daughters 13 birthday and were hungry after walking all day at the zoo. We wanted Mexican food and found this treasure on opentable. Made a reservation and enjoyed ourselves some of the best enchiladas and steak tacos we’ve had! Service was great as well. Would definitely recommend and return.
Great food and great customer service.
Probably the best Mexican food I’ve ever eaten. 🙌😀
I took some clients here for dinner. They loved the tacos and were impressed with the ambiance. This is a solid choice for Mexican!
The food is amazing!
Please lower the volume of the music. We almost left before sitting down. We are glad we decided to try it. The food was original and authentic.
Food was AMAZING! Service was not good, and the people around us felt the same. Our drinks and food kept getting mixed up. We had to wait almost an hour even with a reservation. The manager had to comp a lot of our food but I will come back for the food. I would try not to go on a busy night to be able to appreciate their bomb food.
Had a great time here at King Queen, it was my second time here and I fell in love with the place after the first time so I decided to invite all my friends so we were a large party of eight and they loved it as well! Great music! Food and ambience
Sunday Funday! Our waiter Julio was AWESOME!
I would give negative stars if I could. It started with them seating our 10-person reservation 30 minutes late. They ended up seating us at a very cramped 8-person table. We ordered two chips and guacamole. One side of the table got them 10 minutes before the other. Our drinks were never refilled. They brought food to 9/10 of us, then waited 15 minutes before bringing the last person's food.
Last but not least, MY HUSBAND HAD A SCREW IN HIS SURF & TURF BURRITO. He was eating it, and his tooth scratched the huge bolt inside.
We will never eat there again. This was one of the worst restaurants experiences I've ever had.
Loved King and Queen.. food was amazing and served very quick.. the staff is very courteous and helpful, the owner Jorge recommend us a few dishes to try which we did and loved every single one of them. Grilled Octopus and Tuna Tostada were among my favorite. We will definitely be back and recommend it to our friends.
In a few words: Good drinks, great food, friendly service and awesome ambience.
It was so loud, we left before ordering.
This was the first time I went to King and Queen Cantina. I had reservation at 7:30pm, my date and I arrived at 7:15pm. The lady at the front door said we needed to wait 1o minutes. But within 5 minutes we were seated. When you walk in, all you can hear is the music. We were seated upstairs which I think the music was very loud upstairs rather than downstairs. Our waitress was very nice. We ordered a couple of margaritas and for appetizers we ordered the stuffed oysters and chips and salsa. We then ordered the costa azul and the house taco selection. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced! We will definitely be back.
It was an awesome experience! I had an excellent server, great tasting food and drinks, and it was a great location. Everything was perfect and I couldn't have asked for more. I will definitely be going back and referring this place to family and friends!
Food was excellent, 'fratmosphere' was intolerable. Music was LOUD, patrons were LOUDER.
Everything was perfect that day, from the drinks to the food I did make a note on my reservation that we where celebrating a birthday but no dessert came out at the end of our meal. Our waitress got to busy twords the end that I didn't ask her, I was hoping they would do something special. Maybe they don't?! Not sure
Loved the food, service was excellent especially because we had a party of 10. The food came out all at once and was fast. Our server gave us a lot of attention and the ambiance made it so much fun!
The service was so fast and the staff was super attentive and very sweet! Loved coming here!
Great experience, excellent service, great drinks, great music and very good food.
Food was amazing. Had a great time.
Team outing to lift moral.
We went on Cinco De Mayo the food and service was amazing and they were packed! I can’t wait to go back.
