Kilpatrick's Publick House
The food was pretty good, but unfortunately the service was extremely slow. It took a long time to get a drink refilled and then when we were done eating our server asked if we wanted to see a dessert menu and boxes for the leftovers. We said yes. At least 10 minutes later she brought the menu. Ten minutes after that she took the dessert order. At least 15 minutes after that we still had not received our dessert and I had to ask for it. The manager came over and rudely said we had not been waiting that long for it and that it takes time for them to warm it up but she would take it off the bill. That explanation wasn't necessary - just sorry everything took so long would have sufficed. Also, we were in there so long, we forgot to double check that our teacher week discounts were applied. We were not given an itemized copy of the bill so we couldn't check, but based on the total cost our discounts were NOT applied. We had to ask 3 times for the boxes as well. Unbelievable. It was the reason we chose the restaurant. We won't be back - there are better local options in Ithaca for sure.
We waited for 15 minutes and no one ever came to seat us. We did not end up using the reservation.
Terrible service, and the food was not worth waiting for. It took 2 hours to order, receive and eat our dinner. The place had plenty of empty seats (now we know why), but even so the food took forever to get to us. Drinks were slow, too. The hamburger had an odd taste as if something besides beef was in it. The french fries were kind of dry and chewy. The onion rings had an odd flavor that we couldn't identify, but they clearly had a history in a freezer, as did the fries. The haddock was pretty good, but since only one person ordered it, the meal for our little group was a failure and afterwards we went to the Short Stop for take-out sandwiches.
They were out of some entrees and nearly all desserts except cheesecake. The onion soup wasn’t hot.
Onion soup was hot water and onions. Pasta was overcooked. Service was slooow. Pass.
We were having a small group (6 people) special event and were treated so well from start to finish. Would definitely go back as a group. Booth near the back door was private and pretty quiet. Everything was delicious. Cassandra was very attentive and fun, and put up with our very opinionated group. Great evening.
The food was delicious but the kitchen made a few mistakes with our order. They appeared to be understaffed for a Friday night.
Reasons for my so-so review: They were out of my wine choice and the menu item ordered by my husband (shepherd’s pie). His burger, ordered to be cooked to ‘medium’ was rare inside. Also, it was very loud and difficult to talk in the restaurant. On the other hand, the lamb burger was very good.
Our favorite place in Ithaca NY! The food is wonderful and their bangers and mash outstanding!
Cute stmosphere, calming, had buffalo tofu wings and fish and chips. Both fresh and delicious. Great service. Very pleasrd
We were disappointed in our visit. I usually woulda write a negative review, however this place really did not cut it. We had poor service, we waited forever, our orders were all wrong and the food wasn’t even tasty. Keep looking...
We were late for our reservations and the staff was still pleasant and understanding. They had even tried to call but I didn't know. The food was delicious. Thank you!!
We made a last- minute reservation for student move-in weekend, grateful to find s place still serving food at 9:00pm. We were seated quickly, and our waiter was prompt in attending to us. The food took forever to come out. I didn’t time it, but it had to be at least 45 mins. Food was good - standard pub fare.
Best fish & chips I’ve ever had, so fresh & so delicious!! Plus the $3 Guinness was a great bonus. Will definitely be back. Authentic time period pub with amazing decor.
The service was prompt, helpful and fun.
An appetizer was forgotten initially and then brought out and comped- excellent customer service!
Terrific Burgers, great beer selection....server and service were also very good especially on an extremely busy memorial day/Cornell Graduation weekend. Will come back. Thank you all.
Graduation - great dinner!
I love the food here and service is always great!!
Food was delicious! Service was great! We will be going again! We recommended it to all!
There was only one other group in the restaurant when we went. Despite the place being almost empty service was slow. The server got several things wrong (brought one wet-nap for 2 servings of wings, missed the swiss cheese that belonged on a burger, didn't bring a spoon for soup, kept having to return to the bar looking for whiskies they DID have [several were simply unavailable and one bottle was on the shelf but empty], did not refill coffee when she should have). I don't expect servers to hover but they should be much more responsive when they are asked to the table. The food was meh, except for the bbq wings and the shepherd's pie -- which was mostly potatoes without much meat, but tasted good. Probably won't go back, except maybe to drink, and only if we're not going to try experimenting with new whiskies.
Great food, drinks, and service. Loved sitting in the cozy booth!!!
Great food lots of great options on the menu. Waitress was excellent
Great beers on tap. Vegan options. What more could I ask for?
Waitress was good but by herself, she could have used some help.
Only suggestion that I have is to update the menu on open table. We pre picked our meals but the menu had changed
Based upon this visit, I would give a cautious recommendation. The service was very slow and the restaurant, while initially busy, was not so as our evening progressed. Our server was hard to find, especially when it came time for picking up our payment. I had to track down another server to wrap up the evening. Two out of three of us were happy with the food but I was very unhappy with the monkfish special. It was extremely salty and also not fresh. Since I'm likely to be back in the area a number of times over the next few years, I'll likely give it another shot but might avoid the fish of the day.
Probably the worst Cesar salad I’ve ever had.
I am a vegetarian who needed to host a business dinner on Valentine's Day. Realizing how hard it would be to get a reservation, I essentially took the first opening at the planned hour that I could find. I had low expectations for the food quality, as well as being concerned that it would be too noisy to hear. Happily, I was totally wrong on both counts. The vegetarian burger was excellent, the noise level was low, and service was very good.
Our sandwich was missing the horseradish sauce. When we brought it to the waiters attention he did not say a word just brought us out the sauce. Waiter not conversational at all.
Great service for our table of 8. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable and fast! Food was delicious.
