A third-generation Texan well-versed in Tex-Mex cuisine, Killen has developed an immense passion for Mexican ingredients, regional dishes and traditional preparations, which he has studied extensively during his travels.
On our menu, you’ll find both classic Tex-Mex plates enriched with elements of barbecue, as well as Texas-tinged interpretations of Mexican fare, all made with fresh, quality ingredients and elevated through simple techniques. From scratch-made moles and salsas to house-ground corn tortillas, each detail is thoughtfully prepared to create a transportive experience at your table.
We look forward to sharing it with you.
Service from our waitress was absolutely amazing. She was very attentive and extremely friendly.
The gentleman filling our water glasses was extremely rude. I extended my thanks for him filling our glasses and he never once responded to me.
When my husband said thank you, he responded.
The brunch was good, but not overly great.
I did like my sons chicken fajita nachos and the warm salsa. Did not care for my breakfast potatoes at all.. very mushy.
Birthday treat... was AMAZING!
The brisket in the enchiladas was very tender and flavorful. The margaritas were excellent and the service was very attentive.. We also had the street tacos as a starter and they were perfect. It was easy to hold a conversation without speaking loudly. Will definitely make a return visit.
Simply not impressed with the food not the service
Just very disappointing. Everything was sub par. From old food under the table to poor service to lukewarm food. Not good at all.
Staff made sure that the birthday was extra special, acknowledging the birthday recipient in a special way.
Have been there several times. Love the new menu (although I loved the old one as well). The pork belly appetizer and brisket queso were great. Had the TMX Trio which did not disappoint. Our server, Matthew, and his trainee, Luke were just awesome. Alexis, the hostess greeted us with a smile and made us feel immediately welcome. Kudos as well for our bartender, T.J., who worked with my wife to get her drink just right! Great service! We’ll be back soon!
Food was hit and miss. Ceviche and fajita salad were hits. Brisket tacos were a huge dry miss. Service was good. Restaurant was full — also good. Margaritas were great.
Restaurant ambiance / decor was lacking. Too bright and non descript. No character. Not much has changed since this place was a Cavanaugh’s restaurant 20 years ago.
Prices were a little high vs quality of experience. Will give it another try.
Very attentive staff and awesome food. Authentic Mexican food mixed with some Tex-mex.
It was not bad. Th efood was OK, I would return if someone else was set in going but I thought it was unremarkable. Very uncomfortable wooden chairs.
This Killen’s spot does NOT live up to any of the other restaurants by Killen’s. The food was very slow to come out on a night with only 8-10 tables seated. The food was nothing special and multiple chicken dishes had bones and joints in it. The drinks were not good. And the service was extremely slow. The steakhouses are amazing but this location falls very short. Get out of the TexMex business and stick to what you’re great at!
Excellent food and service. Rated noise level low, but restaurant was not full when we were there. Wait staff was very friendly. We had a party of 8 and everyone was happy with their meal. Looking forward to going back.
Only one out of five of us enjoyed the food. Won’t be going back.
My experience was amazing! I went there for a birthday dinner and the food was very good. The staff was very attentive especially Blake, the bartender. The enchiladas were wonderful in the fajitas were tender and flavorful. I will definitely come back.
Our server was outstanding. She was polite, friendly and paid attention to detail. We ordered Queso which was okay but wasn't hot. 1/2 of the table wasn't bothered by it so we ate it. Then I ordered flautas and Charro beans for my entre. The flautas were mediocre in flavor but the beans weren't even close to being hot. Our server brought me another one and it was better but not HOT. During the whole meal an annoying light kept flashing somewhere in the restaurant. It was intermitant and couldn't predict when the next flash would be. Really strange and like I said, annoying. The prices were way too high for the food quality and inadequate temperature. Come on Ronnie, with those kind of prices you could at least make my meal HOT.
Excellent taco Tuesday spot. Food and service was top notch. The El Ray margarita was legit.
Food was very good and fresh. Prices were overall very reasonable. Service was very good, server was very attentive. We will definitely go back.
They changed up there menu to appeal to the masses (peas and carrots in Mexican rice). They removed the best item on the menu, the short rib, and offered a fajita special that consisted of the chewiest meat available. Didn’t even want to stay for the bread pudding, which is another reason we have eaten there so much.
The BEST Tex-Mex restaurant I’ve ever had!
Really lousy food and way overpriced. I think they are failing, Sunday night and the place was pretty empty.
This was our 2nd time to the restaurant after going soon after they first opened. The first visit was okay, but we had heard that they changed the menu to be more tex-mex. This time we did like the menu choices much better. The food and service was good, but given that the prices are generally higher than a typical mexican restaurant and the serving sizes were generally smaller (e.g., fish tacos), we didn't think the value was as good.
It wasn't very busy when we went for lunch. The server was very friendly and helpful with menu recommendations. The cheese enchilada and chicken chalupa was really good! We also liked the chips and salsa which is very important for a Tex-Mex place. We definitely recommend this place and we plan to return soon!
I am a huge fan of Killen’s other restaurants and make an effort to go to at least one (ok, two or three of them) each time I am in Houston. So I was anxious to try TMX. I had been warned by a few people that it wasn’t great, but that wasn’t going to stop me. But, in hindsight, I wish I had listened and instead gone to...well, somewhere else. Overall it was completely underwhelming. And it shocks me that it is owed and operated by the same person/company that operates the other Killen’s restaurants. It doesn’t compute.
The exterior is unappealing, frankly, looks closed. The menu is hard to follow, a bit of a mess, really. The food is uninspired. The service was tired and distracted. The manager did come by and check on us, which was nice. He also checked on the two other tables occupied.
In all, disappointing. Massively disappointing. Thankfully I had Killen’s BBQ for lunch, which is always good. Go there instead.
Our order was incorrect, food was just ok but overpriced compared to other Tex-Mex places down the road, for the price premium you pay here I would expect food that was amazing or better ambiance (the place is located in a strip center)
The best thing is the brisket queso, although it could have been spicier. Alcoholic beverages good. Food was meh 😑. Not a lot of flavor.
As with all Killen's products the food great expense was high but probably worth it. Also go to their restaurants expecting to get what you pay for. Staff was friendly and attentive, reservations are a good idea on busy nights. Overall a very good evening.
Food is always good!
The restaurant was out of menus, the one my party was given was taken before we even ordered. Our server made it to our table about 10 minutes after we sat down, having another server continue to swing by to tell us he would be right with us. I finally asked that server to help us, so he finally took our drink and appetizer order. Later our server dropped off the app saying he would return. Didn’t. So the person that was actually helping us I requested again for him and that he take our order, which he did. After about 20 minutes of not having my la pina, ordered from the bar the(non-existent) server approached us saying that the bar was backed up due to the game, but he was addressing my friend that is very much visibly 8 months pregnant. Duh. Food was just ok, the worst I’ve had here and the service was as described, scattered. Not looking forward to visiting the new Killen group restaurant now...
The food is plentiful and delicious...the service was outstanding.
Some things are really expensive for quantity (Chiccharrones). At other restaurants with similar quality and more quantity would be around $2 instead of $6. For keto people, there were not even close to enough for the queso.
Food was excellent! Lobster tacos, shrimp tacos, fajitas and seafood enchiladas were all great! Waitress was outstanding.
Food was awesome and Josh as always was great! Definitely recommend people hit this place up... its not big so suggest you make a reservation for peak hours.
Service is always great. Our server Logan was very attentive. Blake the manger always takes care of us. That’s why I keep coming back
Had reservations, seated immediately. Service was great. Ordered the TMX Trio of enchiladas which were awesome and also the brisket quesadillas which my wife loved! For an appetizer we did the brisket Queso which was mouthwatering! This was our third or fourth visit...and it seems to get better each visit!
Food was excellent!!! Ask for Story as your waiter!!
Awesome service. Chips and water were refilled before they were empty. Server was friendly and personable. Overall great experience!
The Food are AMAZING!! I had to ask for my Ice tea to be refill a couple of times but other than that, everything was Great.
We were celebrating our 1 year anniversary. We ordered the Waygu Steak Fajitas for two. The fajitas were very chewy and I asked for more tortillas as well as a to-go box. The waitress assured me that she gave us extra tortillas, but when I got home as I went through everything that was in the bag I saw that there was, in fact, no extra tortillas.
