The restaurant is small with an open kitchen, but the noise level is good - you can carry on a conversation. The food is great and the service is exceptional. The only complaint, if you can call it that, is the lighting. For whatever reason, the center of the dining space is very bright and the brightness tails off towards the edges of the restaurant. We sat in the center of the space and felt a bit like we were in a spotlight.
Food was amazing specially the deserts.
Great restaurant. The steak was cooked to PERFECTION!!! Appetizers were outstanding- the smokiness in lobster bisque was just right - not overwhelming. The flan dessert was DIVINE!!! Thank you1
We had a great experience dining at Killen's STQ. We ordered the Wagyu flight and to our surprise, the A5 Kobe filet was overcooked, while the other 2 Wagyu filets were cooked perfectly. When we brought this to our waiter's attention, he immediately had the kitchen prepare another filet to our specifications (we had requested medium rare), no questions asked. The service was excellent and they even provided an extra dessert on the house since we were celebrating a birthday. The carrot cake is also to die for!
The restaurant was not very busy. We had a seven o’clock reservation. 10 minutes for a glass a water and over 20 for a cocktail. Waitstaff very friendly but not enough waiters. Unacceptable to wait that long for service especially at these prices. Food was just oK and I have had better meals there in the past. Maybe an off night.
New Years Eve with our best friends couple.
Very loud when we arrived.
We went for New Year’s Eve. Our service was great from the bartender to our server. Our food was delicious.
NYE dinner. Was Great...start to finish!
First time at STQ, but a long time patron of Ronnie’s other establishments. Chef Killen has done it again, with fantastic flavors and friendly waitstaff the order of the day. Our party had a ribeye, the pork jagerschnitzel, and the brisket ragu; all were full of flavor. The jagerschnitzel is as big as a platter and some of the most moist and tender pork I’ve had. The ragu was an original take on pasta and had some of the Chef’s signature brisket in addition to ground beef. And the ribeye — well, it’s Chef Killen and steak, so it’s as good as you’d expect. Nancy was an awesome server, extremely attentive and engaging. All in all, STQ reminded me of the original Killen’s Steakhouse — a small headcount restaurant with an efficient menu and helpful waitstaff. We can’t wait to go back.
This was the choice of my son for his 17th birthday dinner and it did not disappoint! Thanks!
Great place. The food was incredible. Would go back just for the creamed corn.
We went for a late girlfriends get together and totally enjoyed our lunch we had the 3 course lunch but also ordered the bbq shrimp appetizer. Delicious! We trie Chicken fried steak, pork belly and steak salads all were amazing. Elizabeth was our server and was great! Would definitely go back again!
The pork belly appetizers are worth driving many miles for !! Incredible short ribs and gourmet cuts barbecued to perfection.
Yes; high quality steaks...no complaint there. In general, side dishes good though our tomato salad had mushy pieces and the brussels sprouts seemed a bit charred. It's very good but pricey and our table (altho we had a 6pm seating) was right in front of the entry door which blasted us each time it was opened. Not sure we'll go back.
Definitely one of our two favorite steak houses in Houston. The meat is always outstanding and we love the creative specials. Side dishes are also perfect. We will return...
I’ll definitely be back!!
Filet mignon and asparagus with hollandaise sauce fantastic!
Other vegetables on the table great. Will definitely eat here again.
One of our favorite places to eat. Great food, Great service!
Food was very good but we are used to Killens Steakhouse and that place is very hard to beat!! Overall very good and the customer service is 2nd to none!
Lighting is HORRIBLE. It’s like eating in a Luby’s.
Went for our anniversary and had such an amazing time.
Lunch menu is fabulous. Nice change from dinner options.
Lovely place to celebrate a birthday with family
Great smells, great open spot, even better food and beverage!
My husband & I booked a reservation for 11:15...got seated right away and everything started great. The food is par excellence. But at 11:45 when the lunch crowd came, our waiter (and there were only 2 waiters ro serve a busy lunch crowd) kinda forgot about us. Our drinks didn’t get refilled on time. And we were long done with our main entree before our dessert got served.
The girl server was pretty cranky but the food was really good.
Overall food was good. DisappointEd that they ran out of the short rib and ordered alternate dish - one was good, the other was not as good as expected. Side dishes were good size and service was attentive.
Fantastic restaurant. It was our first time there, and met all the expectations we had heard about. Great menu, service, and all around 5+ stars. Will go back soon!
This represented our initial visit to Killen's STQ...although, we had attempted to obtain weekend seating previously. Both the food and service proved to be better than our high expectations. Others, had indicated it was a "can't miss it" dining destination. Their descriptions, while unusually positive for them, managed to be insufficient.
We were fortunate to have Anthony as our server. Unquestionably, Anthony provided a considerable plus to the evening. He was knowledgeable, personable, professional and allowed us to enjoy Killen's for the 1st time, at our pace. We have already recommended Killen's STQ to others...and will continue to do so.
My 40th birthday dinner with my husband was great. Foods & services were perfect. We’ll comeback
I have recommended Killen's STQ to friends. Love it. The food, wine and cocktails have all been excellent. Just what you'd expect from a Killen's restaurant. And the service is both personable and professional. One outstanding member of their team, Elizabeth, has taken care of my party several times, and she is everything you'd want in that capacity. Knowledgeable, engaging and funny, too. Great place.
We had an amazing dinner! Our waitress, Mia, was so sweet and personable. We had a good time with her and she certainly contributed to our outstanding experience. The pork belly appetizer is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. We like it so much that we ordered a second one! The chicken fried steak was so tender that I could cut it with a fork. We will be recommending this place to our friends.
Everything was great. The server we had however was not the best. As soon as I mentioned that the table was dry (I.e no alcohol) his attitude visibly changed and he became more abrupt and almost condescending. Either way good food. Hope we don’t get that server again (he is a long time employee as I’ve seen him at STQ many time).
This is a place that we have wanted to try for a while, but didn't want to make the drive. We should have made the drive sooner. We both decided to go with the three course lunch menu that let us each pick an appetizer, main, and dessert. We started with the pork belly and brisket tamale. The were both great, but the pork belly was unbelievable. Then the fillet and ribeye fried steak. The fillet was good, but the ribeye fried steak would be worth the drive. The best we have ever had. Finally, carrot cake and bread pudding with bacon. It was a toss up, both were really good. The best part is we had an over the top lunch for $80, including the tip. We will be making the drive and going back.
The food was so good, I forgot that we also had great service.
Appetizers were tasty, but small portions, and the main entrees took almost 45 minutes. Chicken sandwich had a very thin piece of chicken on it.
They never disappoint. Their lunch is the best value in town, amazing food at great price.
Delicious food and great service! Great bourbon selection and the bread pudding is phenomenal.
Super food, super service!
We had a lovely dinner. Staff was very attentive, wished me a happy birthday and let us enjoy a leisurely dinner. The roasted butternut squash, lobster bisque & lobster mac & cheese were delicious.
The young lady that served us was fantastic! Her recommendations and the rest of our meal was a perfect 10. She was prompt with our cocktail orders and we never had to ask for anything. I highly recommend Killen STQ on Voss!
