Had a great Valentine's dinner! Favorites were the au gratin potatoes & "warm" carrot cake!! Our only wish is that it was more dimly lit for a more romantic vibe.

Overall wonderful experience.

The ambiance was very cozy and romantic. Our service was fantastic and food was exceptional. Definitely worth a try if you need a nice evening with your significant other.

Watch out for the drinks! They're crafted well, but the price might be more than what you're expecting.

Valentines lunch with spouse. We had the Business Lunch. It was all very good for a reasonable price. The service was very good. The parking is limited so you may have to valet park.

An impromptu weeknight date with my husband included a very fine dinner at STQ. My Manhattan was perfect (rye,chilled/no ice, with a Luxardo cherry), followed by an impeccable roast oysters starter (tender, parm-crusted), then the amazing octopus dish (like a salad, with both warm and chilled elements, flavors of lemon and dill, and a slight spicy undertone). He had the yummy beef short-rib tamale app, then went all-in on the delectable short rib entree (cue eye-rolling ecstasy). Yummy baby carrots with pistachios and a bit gloppy au gratin potatoes rounded out our meals. The key lime cheesecake somehow balanced a light texture with a commitment to the cream cheese--loved it! Our server Michael could not have been more friendly, informative, timely, and professional--he's a gem! The lighting was a bit "too much" and we had them re-direct one of the fixtures to avoid blinding.

Killen’s STQ is the best restaurant in the city of Houston. Chef Owner Ronnie Killen and his Executive Chef Teddy Lopez have perfectly blended the Steakhouse and BBQ location here. Ask for Eric to be your server, he’s a Pro!

Inventive menu with well trained staff that treat the place as if they are stakeholders. All dishes ordered seem to come with a surprising detail. Nice wine list and a serious cocktail program. Near perfect Old Fashioned served with single large clear ice. I’ll be back.

Decent food, not as good as I thought it would be. Service was ok, ambience could use some work- they had a bright light shining in my wife’s face. Value for what we got was just ok. Had much better everything at Eddy V’s and Steak 48.

Service and food were excellent. Restaurant ambiance at 5:45 when we were seated was perfect. By 7 pm, it was so loud that we really couldn't hold a conversation. I realize this isn't unique to STQ, that most popular restaurants are like this.

Had really been looking forward to trying STQ. Was a bit disappointed in the service, food temp and prices. Had the lobster grits and it was a very petite lobster over some very yummy grits. The lobster bisque was lukewarm, the pork belly was good and the brisket pasta dish had fantastic brisket but it was a small serving and the pasta and sauce were subpar. But y’all - the carrot cake!!! Get it!!

We ordered onion rings as an appetizer, and they were superb with a peppery seasoning and just the right crunch. We then split an order of ragu, tender and tasty. Service was prompt but unobtrusive which is much appreciated when one is conversing with a dining partner. Such well trained wait staff is often a rarity.

My steak was over cooked and tough and when asked if I wanted a replacement I declined. The waiter then rudely asked me if I eat “New York strip steak a lot” and also told me that I “said it was ok when he asked”(the first bite was in my mouth as he asked). They came back and said the best they could do was 50% off the steak because it was half gone. It was not. The gristle cap on the end that they left was there and two bites were gone-mine and my husbands(to see if I was mistaken). What steakhouse does that? Poor customer service. There are PLENTY of other steakhouses with far superior customer service than this one.

The restaurant is small with an open kitchen, but the noise level is good - you can carry on a conversation. The food is great and the service is exceptional. The only complaint, if you can call it that, is the lighting. For whatever reason, the center of the dining space is very bright and the brightness tails off towards the edges of the restaurant. We sat in the center of the space and felt a bit like we were in a spotlight.

We had a great experience dining at Killen's STQ. We ordered the Wagyu flight and to our surprise, the A5 Kobe filet was overcooked, while the other 2 Wagyu filets were cooked perfectly. When we brought this to our waiter's attention, he immediately had the kitchen prepare another filet to our specifications (we had requested medium rare), no questions asked. The service was excellent and they even provided an extra dessert on the house since we were celebrating a birthday. The carrot cake is also to die for!

The restaurant was not very busy. We had a seven o’clock reservation. 10 minutes for a glass a water and over 20 for a cocktail. Waitstaff very friendly but not enough waiters. Unacceptable to wait that long for service especially at these prices. Food was just oK and I have had better meals there in the past. Maybe an off night.

First time at STQ, but a long time patron of Ronnie’s other establishments. Chef Killen has done it again, with fantastic flavors and friendly waitstaff the order of the day. Our party had a ribeye, the pork jagerschnitzel, and the brisket ragu; all were full of flavor. The jagerschnitzel is as big as a platter and some of the most moist and tender pork I’ve had. The ragu was an original take on pasta and had some of the Chef’s signature brisket in addition to ground beef. And the ribeye — well, it’s Chef Killen and steak, so it’s as good as you’d expect. Nancy was an awesome server, extremely attentive and engaging. All in all, STQ reminded me of the original Killen’s Steakhouse — a small headcount restaurant with an efficient menu and helpful waitstaff. We can’t wait to go back.

AWESOME carrot cake - WOW! Loved the fried carrot strand garnish on the top - very clever. I actually can’t remember what I ate for my entree, but I’m sure it was fine. I did not care for the aged meat, however. I tasted my husband’s aged steak and it is just not the flavor profile for me, him either. But our son, he chose wisely - the chicken fried steak was phenomenal!!

Yes; high quality steaks...no complaint there. In general, side dishes good though our tomato salad had mushy pieces and the brussels sprouts seemed a bit charred. It's very good but pricey and our table (altho we had a 6pm seating) was right in front of the entry door which blasted us each time it was opened. Not sure we'll go back.
