More like Key Worst Grill. I've never left a 1 star review on Open Table but that changes with this dining experience. Not sure where even to start to be honest.
Suppose I can start that we arrived at 6:15pm and didn't get our food until 7:50pm. We booked this place early for New Year's Eve so that we'd have plenty of time to see the 8pm fireworks - well that didn't happen. Disappointed the kids big time.
On the service, saw the guy with the expected frequency for the first half-hour then he disappeared. For the rest of the evening. Drink refills? Nope. The very expensive food came out and it was more worthy of a low-rate diner: cold, meager, served in baskets, terrible quality. My pizza had clearly been sitting out for a while as the cheese started to harden and get that texture when left out for a while. My wife's cuban sandwich was literally a few slices of deli meat, no pickles, no mustard, just slapped together and zero effort. All dishes were cold.
I could go on but hopefully this serves as enough of a warning for you to avoid this place at all cost. Stunned it's still in business. It feels like the owner is skimping on everything just to maximize profits. Hopefully the strategy comes back to bite them in the butt.
Had a bad meal here. Totally overcooked jambalaya. Should never happen
We ordered pizza and it was delicious. Our server Kaitlyn was excellent. Restaurant is decorative and fun place to eat. Plantain Churo desert is yummy.
No paper towels in the bathroom. Food was ok.
Great casual restaurant with a fun Key West theme. If you like an authentic mojito (not sweet) this is your place. The oysters Hemingway were awesome. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Myrtle Beach.
We ate on the patio next to the water. There were speedboats that was a bit noisy. Other than that, the meal was good.
Server was great and waitress was working her butt off. All dishes were mediocre.
Good Caribbean style food and good kids menu options for the family.
I reserved via Open Table after being told an hour and a half wait at another “Key West” restaurant. I was able to reserve an 815 at 8pm but when we got there, they hadn’t yet received the Open Table reservation. However, the place was practically empty so we were able to be seated right away. I was concerned - why is this place empty? We stayed since we were super hungry at this point. Put in the kids order first and then got our food. I had chicken Caesar salad and my husband had the Cuban sandwich. Kids had grilled chicken and rice and pasta. Everything was surprisingly good and not a bad price. Not sure why it was empty but glad we stayed.
Service was slow even though the restaurant was empty. The food was cold and uncooked. We wouldn’t go back and eat out 4-5 times a week. Very disappointed.
Would recommend and come back!
Food is below average since they changed management a few years ago.
Peel and eat shrimp were tough and chewey. Snapper was a little overdone but good. Other three people were happy.
Our server, Henry, was spectacular. Very attentive on a busy night. Our food was yummy - the only item of note was it was very hard for my son to find something he could eat - he has food allergies (egg/peanut). He really hoped to have grilled shrimp with pasta (we were told all the pastas had egg in them); he then asked for a burger (we were told the bun had egg in it); he finally chose the jambalaya - which he didn't really want - but it was safe. I would strongly encourage you to reconsider all the basic items having egg in them (meaning pasta and burger buns). They're pretty much a staple food item. Very tough to deal with not being able to have either one when away from home.
Lovely restaurant - very pretty - we did enjoy ourselves. As I said Henry was an excellent server.
Group of four, food was good but some liked food more then others in the group. One ordered grouper, was over done. Crab cakes were good. Burger was “ok.”
Our server “Amber” was excellent. Very friendly and attentive. Place was far from full but they sat everyone in one area making it fairly noisy.
It’s was scaled down TGIFs. Not good - kids didn’t eat pasta as it was not drained.
Pass on this restaurant. Too many other choices. The server was the best part of the evening. We were actually told what NOT to order. The food took forever to come out, we had no silver wear, and that took another 10 minutes to arrive. Just a total waste of time and money.
The food was ridiculously high. No decent lunch specials. Do something about the prices. Didn't get what the big deal was.
Our server was great. The food was good, but very slow coming out of the kitchen. I liked all the fish selections, but I think the prices are high compared to other local restaurants.
I was here several years ago and it was a completely different dining experience. This past visit; the food was all overcooked and cold when it arrived at our table, the server was pleasant enough when we occasionally saw her but rarely around and the table was never bussed or cleaned between courses. The restaurant wasn't even that busy. Very disappointed, we won't be back.
This restaurant is in a lovely setting. This alone makes it worth your visit. The food was good but not plentiful. I think it was a little pricey for what we got, but again the setting must cost quite a bit. This offsets the cost. I would go again, but I think I'd order something different. Our waitress was very good, and we should have asked her for her recommendations.
The restaurant was very dated looking inside, the food was good, the service below average, I had to ask another staff member to find our waiter to ask for the service we needed. They delivered kids drinks in large adult cups with no lids which led to 2 accidents on the table. The location was great and some much could be done with this spot. We walked up to the door they said an hour to an hour and 1/2 wait. I logged in to OpenTable and found a reservation for 8, 15 minutes from the time we were asking. There were many empty seats if I were the owner of this restaurant I would be upset they are turning away paying customers. This is a prime location that is not maximizing the potential earning power of the location. Seems they are comfortable with just providing an OK experience.
Food was very good, but the waiter failed to explain that happy hour drinks could be bought at the bar and brought over to the table. We were told happy hour was not for sit down customers.
Fantastic food and great service! This review wants me to write 50 words which is stupid so here it is.
A nice family-friendly restaurant with fresh seafood and other fare, and a nice gluten-free selection for those with gluten sensitivities.
The food was horrible. The AC was broken and we were not told. Had already ordered our food when we realized. We had to send back kids chicken entree because it was over cooked.
Our family loved Jimmy, our server. He was outstanding; being very attentive to the specific dietary allergies two of our family members have, as well as having a big personality that kept us all entertained.
Everyone enjoyed the food, atmosphere and great service.
Moldy air vents, mold on water bottle. Just gross. Some how mahi sandwich was decent. Sllloooww service. Just stay away
Very good went back the next day
They were out of two things we tried to order, and the key lime pie was not even as good as what I can get out of the freezer section at Target.
Loved the conch chowder though!
We’ve eaten here several times over the years and have never had a bad experience. Good food, good service and overall a good value. We will certainly go back again next year.
We had 6 ppl in our party including one very tall gentleman. They sat us at booth and we of course asked for something bigger. They said they didn’t have anything to accommodate us...and this was by a hostess who acted like she could possibly be the manager. We sat there miserable during our dinner and the tallest person sat sideways even after moving someone to an end chair at the table. They didn’t have two of the entrees we ordered either. Food was good but seriously customer service was horrible! I usually come every year while on vacation and I won’t be back! The restaurant was also blazing hot! This place needs some management attention.
Always visit Key West Grill when in Myrtle Beach. Food is always great! We love sitting outside.
We were seated and our waiter Quinten quickly greeted us. For a Sunday evening at 830 I would have thought there would have been more diners. He took our order and and it quickly arrived. The half dozen oysters on the half shell were beautiful but FROZEN solid. We let Quinten know and he returned them to the kitchen. We waited and waited for another order to come out, but our main meal arrived. My wife ordered the Duval street pasta that was floating in oil. I ordered a piece of fish from the catch of the day choices which the manager said was fresh, but after 20 years of wholesale food service experience, a frozen piece of fish is pretty identifiable. The baked potato I ordered with my fish was so cold it could not melt the butter so they brought me a freshly microwaved one. Finally our oysters arrive. The whole meal was an epic failure. They did take the oysters and the pasta off of bill but a piece of fish, a hamburger, a Cobb salad, 2 glasses of wine, a beer, and an ice tea came to $100. I will not go back nor will not recommend this restaurant. When we left at 915 the only other people in the place was one couple. I told Quinten good luck because I do not know how long the place would be in business.
I visit Key West roughly once a year while on vacation. We always ask for Jimmy, who is absolutely amazing. The food is always perfect and we always enjoy the entire visit a great deal. Can’t wait to visit again next year!
Appetizer, conch fritters were lacking conch. Entree fish was overcooked and dry. Server was attentive and efficient.
Fun place to eat. Food is good, drinks are good. Our server Ashley was very attentive. We have been there before and will visit again.
A good restaurant but we were not told the AC was not working. Sweating and eating is not good. Management should have informed us of this before seating us on busy Memorial holiday. Will not go back soon and when I do I will get a rundown on all operation systems prior to being seated. Not trusting management can kill a restaurant that is otherwise good.
Food and service was really good. We sat inside because it was so hot out, but inside was not air conditioned. Was very hot.
The service was great, our waitress, Rachel, was very courteous and made the experience great overall.
