Delay in being served due to unforeseen circumstances but were comped for first round of drinks and desert. Excellent food and service thereafter. Very well informed about food options and recommendations. Very nice atmosphere.
Incredible venue for dinner and drinks. Tons of character, very current and trendy feel. Quiet main floor, with poshy roof top. My new fav spot in San Diego's little Italy district.
This place has become more of a bar and place to be seen as opposed to a restaurant. We ordered 5 small plates and only one of them was warm. The timing of the dishes was poor. One came out right away and then a long wait until the second and then the remaining 3 came all at once. We were disappointed that the salt cooked fish we had on our previous visit last fall was not on the menu. Other choices for main plates were disappointed. Overall disappointing experience.
Also to get to the rest room is crazy. You have to push yourself through the opposite side of the bar area because they put the DJ in front of the dining door way closest to the rest room--really bad idea. Also there were long lines to both the mens and the womens rest rooms and some drunks kept cutting the line.
Our meal was incredible, Erica our server was outstanding! Love the asian inspiration in the dishes here. We will definitely be back!
My wife came here 3 weeks ago with her friends and raved about the food when she got home. For Valentine’s I decided to take the whole family (6) here since my wife had a good experience. Unfortunate, my daughter and youngest son were not able to eat their orders ( chicken bowl with rice) it was way too salty bec of the soy sauce. My other sons order - some fries - the fries weren’t crunchy and too salty as well. My other sons order was some noodle - the noodle was over cooked and too soft. My wife’s order of crab with egg was alright and my order of avocado sandwich was okay. The ambiance was awesome though. We will try it one more time in the near future and decide an official review on yelp after that experience. Thank you
One of my favorite spots in San Diego!
Our reservation was at 9 and we were seated at 9:45, I’m guessing this is a good strategy to sell extra drinks at the bar while you wait...and of course the price to pay for going out on Valentine’s day.
Food was very good but the amount of food served was very scarce considering the price of the menu.
Everything was great !
Megan was an outstanding server and made the experience more enjoyable.
Food was amazing Valentines set menu was outstanding. Every course extraordinary.
Ambiance was excellent. We will be back.
The hostess told to hold on when we announced our reservation for our anniversary, and then she walked away. A different employee showed up a few minutes later and helped another group first, a group without reservations. We waited awhile longer and finally gave up on this place . Not very customer friendly. Decided to go to elsewhere to celebrate our love. Tragic.
AMAZING FOOD AND SERVICE.
Atmosphere was a bit louder than we had hoped and would likely not be conducive for a business discussion. Food quality made up for any shortcomings in loudness of venue.
Todo delicioso como siempre
The quality of the food was very good. We got 3 small plates as well as 2 entrees because we thought that the entrees would be on the smaller end and they were. That was the only downside to the dinner. I never mind paying as long as I get what I’m paying for. That wasn’t the case this instance. But before dessert, we were really full.
The customer service and our server JENNY was amazing! She really made our 1st time there THE BEST. Service really made the dining experience top notch! JENNY needs a raise Kettner Exchange!
Great atmosphere. Love the upstairs bar and restaurant space. Duck meatball was outstanding!!!
Loved the ambiance and the waiter there, but I the food was overpriced due to the fact that the portions were so small and the taste was not mind blowing at all. A couple of our dishes were good, but one dish was a very odd take on gnocchi that felt like an absolute waste. Nothing was terrible but for those prices and portions, the food has to be so much better than it was. Not a terrible experience by any means, just a bit of a let down. On a positive note the cocktails were great. I would go back in a second just for drinks because the bar was great and the drinks were too.
Kettner Exchange has it all. Depending on where you sit there can different dining experiences - all excellent.
Casually dining in their upstairs outdoor area is such a nice experience - as is eating in the more formal dining room as we did this last time.
Yummy food and setting. Great drinks too
Had a few shared plates and a few drinks. THe service was great and the food was fabulous. Def go back.
The Kettner Exchange is an adventure in eating. Don't bother with the large plates and order a bunch of small plates to share so you can taste many of the different creations that they offer. The menu is varied, so there is something for everyone. We will definitely return.
Great restaurant- sat upstairs in a booth. Cocktails and food were amazing. I suggest sharing a few small plates and one big plate.
One of my two favorite restaurants in greater San Diego, great setting and the menu and food are sublime.
What a cool spot, the kale salad was fantastic, the ambiance was great, definitely a place to come back to and if it’s just 2 of us next time I want to sit in front of the fire.
Celebrated a friends birthday with a group of both family and friends. We basically ordered a bunch of small plates and just shared with one another; you can’t order a single bad thing on the menu and the craft drinks were amazing. Waiter was very helpful and attentive
Fantastic experience!!! Great cocktails and outstanding menu combined with a great atmosphere.
The service was not good at all. We just came for drinks and our waiter made us feel bad and never checked up on us at all. It felt like in order to get good service you had to spend x amount of dollars there! The drinks were good I’ll have to admit but I don’t think I’d be going back
Ask for the ahi pizza, it’s not on the menu but it’s one of my favorite dishes at this little Italy gem.
My daughter came down from L.A. and invited us to KEX to try the "best hamburger in the world".
We were seated and given the menu and the hamburger was not listed, so she asked our waiter if they had it and he said that the menu changes often and that it was taken off... she then asked him if he could check with the kitchen to make sure. He returned very quickly and said that it was not available, so we ordered off the menu and had a good meal. Once we finished our meal and were ready to leave, we looked inside the open kitchen door (which is strangely located right next to the restrooms) and noticed that they were serving the hamburger... when we told them what happened and they said that they served it from the bar menu but are always happy to provide it to dining room customers. Oh well... the special trip from L.A. and invitation to try the "best hamburger in the world" did not work out, and we still don't know why. Too bad, the burger that was denied does look good.
Well conceived and executed Asian-fusion cuisine. We had 4 small dishes which was more than enough for two people. The stand out was the crudo; the fish had a lovely texture and the sauce was complex and spicy. The service was exceptional in attentiveness and friendliness without being obtrusive.
Nice outing with friends. Aria (spelling?) was great
Kettner was an amazing experience. The food was impeccably balanced and the flavors were unique. The ambience was lovely.
Absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego, the food is just spectacular!
Megan (Meghan?) Was an amazing server. We celebrated our anniversary, and she made it perfect. I've been in the hospitality industry for almost a decade, and I have to say it was one of the best dinner experiences I've ever had.
Had the most wonderful time! Good food and great drinks! And we got a magic show! 10 out of 10 would go back!
The wagyu for starter and ribeye for main was perfect. Very nice atmosphere.
Very good food. Very nice urban chic decor. Relaxing, enjoyable dining experience.
Fantastic experience. Food was very tasty and consistent with prior visits. Service was great. Actually had the manager call the following day and ask if I had forgot my phone as they had phone a cell phone. What a super considerate effort on the manager's part. It wasn't my phone but I appreciated their effort. Well above average! Absolute must try restaurant!
Service (and recommendations) were stellar. Great eclectic menu...go with the guidance of doing tapas style, really allows you to explore the creative menu.
Everything was just perfect! The food was amazing and our server was super.
Small plates were mostly good, interesting flavors. Service was lackluster.
