not a fan of the prices for the food you get but I guess this places isnt meant for people on a budget or those who are hungry. However they were quick to give me more sides after I expressed my disappointment to of the lack of food. The food is absolutely great though and our waitress was truly great including the manager who heard my advice on the food and how it should have more bang for its buck. Despite its hiccup I'd come here again.

I'm a local residents and had some friends visiting from out of town. We both went to The culinary institute in New York and we're looking forward to the dining experience. We were both impressed with the individual preparation of the dishes and flavor levels that we're right on. Keep up the good work will be back soon

We were in the downstairs restaurant and shared 7 small plates with another couple. Each plate we shared was delicious. Two of my favorites: duck meatball and the lamb belly.

Everything was great! definitely worthy of recent Micheline Bib award, Squashini was the only thing we had i would give a 4 out 5 just bc the sauce was way too spicy and took away from the flavor. Otherwise excellent meal!

This was our first time at Kettner Exchange and we weren't disappointed. A friend and I had brunch on Saturday, sat inside and overlooked the water. Great view! The bar/patio area was really hopping, but we wanted to catch up with each other so chose a more quiet spot. The menu was one of the more innovative brunch menus that I've seen in a long time, which was quite a welcome change! I had the Spicy Gallagher (serano infused tequila, aperol, lemon, watermelon, soda) to start. Then we both had the Thai Crispy Rice Salad (avocado, Chinese sausage, scrambled egg, snow crab, and crushed peanuts). Both were stellar! I brought a copy of the brunch and dinner menu home to show my husband. I'll be back!

Good food, Questionable service.

The food and wine were good, however the service was rather questionable. The waitress was cold, short and fond of monosyllables. The effort to speak with the hostess on the way out regarding the issue was met with disdain and utter disregard.

We had a party of 6 and was at a restaurant close by who told us they couldn't seat us even though their restaurant was completely empty. I decided to make a reservation at Kettner and the first available was 730 but arrived at 6 and asked if there was any way they could seat us. They asked us to sit and relax while they checked. About 5 minutes later they informed us they were ready to sit our table (6 people). I have dined with them at least 5 times and the staff has always been accommodating and friendly. I'm from Chicago and feel like the food in SD is not necessarily that great, but the food here is amazing and you cannot go wrong with anything you order. The same goes for the drinks and the ambiance as they are as unique as the food menu. The staff is always helpful in making suggestions depending on what you're craving. This is my favorite restaurant as it reminds me so much of the amazing restaurants in the Chi! Thank you for always making us feel welcome and we can't wait to go back!

Special occasion wasn’t acknowledged despite the fact that I had a conversation that day with the hostess to telephoned me coupled with two bathrooms for the entire downstairs restaurant which is right across from where you go in and out of the kitchen plus cost I definitely would not do it again

Food was great but the service was terrible!! After getting our drinks we waited 20-30 minutes before the waiter ever came back to check on us to get our food order. Once we finally flagged him down he never even went over the menu or made any suggestions. He seemed like he was in such a rush and everything we did inconvenienced him. Fortunately the food was excellent and came out super fast. It’s a shame the service was so poor. I live in SD and my family was visiting from out of town so it wasn’t the best way for them to experience their first night out here

We tried this restaurant because of its new Michelin rating. The menu was fun, whimsical, and creative. We especially enjoyed the Tenderbelly Pork Wontons, Kumquat Toast, Lamb Noodles, and the Pig Mac Steam Bun. I didn't give them a higher rating on the service for a couple of reasons. We ordered the four small plates and an entree and our server told us the kitchen would pace our order. Three of the small plates came out with the popcorn of the day and the other small plate was served with the entree. It would have been more appropriate for the popcorn to be served with our cocktails, and that all the other dishes be served individually. The Georgia Sunrise cocktail was yummy, but our second round was missing the bamboo straws. It's the little details that make a restaurant Michelin worthy. I hope they'll work on the details. Kettner Exchange is definitely worth a visit.

We were celebrating my son’s graduation from USD. Food was superb! My son’s date had some dietary restrictions. Our server new the menu like the back of her hand. Very knowledgeable and friendly. I’ll definitely be back on my next visit to SD.

While the food was good, the service was lacking and the ambiance we craved for our anniversary dinner was ruined by the loud private party they had on their outdoor rooftop patio. The problem wasn’t so much the party itself, but the fact they had the DJ/drunk 21 year olds and family and friends being broadcast over the sound system throughout the entire restaurant. Also very nice to hear your wait staff talking about how one already quit his job there and how he couldn’t wait for his 2 weeks to be up and the other one saying how he couldn’t wait to put in his own 2 week notice. Other than that good food, good drinks, but wouldn’t return based on the experience.

I give it a 15 out of 15. That is how many distinct items we have tried during the two trips we made. Everyone on the table liked (or loved) each of those 15 items - which is not a common occurence. That bundled with personable service and great atmosphere. It's already on our very slowly growing "repeat list" of restaurants in San Diego.

The large plates as advertised were very small portions, the halibut was delicious, but the accompanying veggie and rice was very rich in a buttery sauce and it tasted like fish, rich and veggies don't taste great if they have fish juice on them. The tips were delicious but a very small portion. Not a good value over all. Dinner for two with two beers and two mixed drinks was $150
