Very disappointing. Table was not ready when we arrived waited 20 minutes. Drinks arrived 25 minutes after we ordered. Menu is limited and my food was average. Needed more staff for busing and setting up. Lots of confusion.

The Italian based menu was very interesting and creative. There were many choices of dishes in different portion sizes and price points. It was so hard to decide what to order! My husband had beautiful homemade wood fired mushroom pizza while I had a small size portion of the pappadelle with duck ragout. The restaurant was busy but quiet and we had excellent service. I would frequent this restaurant regularly if I lived in Harrisburg.

The service is always great. Knowledgeable wait staff and friendly. This was my daughter’s prom and they were treated exceptionally well. That’s not always the case with teens.

We enjoyed our dinner experience. Our server’s knowledge of the menu was impressive and he was very attentive to our needs. The resturaunt has very high end atmosphere. The habanero margarita knocked my socks off.

We frequent Kathrines because the dinning experience is the best in Winston Salem. From the chef to the hostess, this team is top notch! We eat a plant based diet and they always accommodate with the chef always preparing a unique dish that is unbelievable. Great food, great team, incredible dinning!

Today was the worst experience I’ve ever had at this restaurant. It missed the mark on service and food. It seemed the food was prepared the night before and slightly warmed. The food was cold and stale. Our drinks were terrible and the service was so bad. I am not going back.

Very disappointing. Had a table of 6 of us for lunch and we had to keep a look-out for the waiter because it appeared he was the only waiter for lunch. Quality of food was very average.

It was embarrassing for our out-of-town guests.

Never again,

Steve Curl

We stay at the Kimpton regularly and eat at the Katharine most times. The food quality this visit was noticeably lower than it used to be. Service was fine, but we felt we'd wasted our "good dinner" night. Nothing specific, just bland and not very tasty overall. We were a group of 4 who ordered soups or salads, and then a pork dish, chicken dish, and steak dish. Across the board, no one was thrilled with anything they ate. Maybe they were having an off night? Whatever the reason, we'll be going to one of the other nice restaurants nearby the next time we are in town.

Excellent dinner and our service was great. The only complaint would be the 25 dollar cake cutting fee for 9 people. Not at all reasonable.

Nice upscale restaurant located in the Kimpton Cardinal Hotel (Reynolds Building). Food is very good. Service is great. It is expensive. Also a little noisy for a upscale place.

Our group arrived at 12noon; there were 2 individual people eating; we ordered from "express lunch" menu; it was 28 minutes later that we received our lunch; 2 ladies ordered the salad/w chicken, only had 1 order available, one opted for a garden salad; chicken must have been pre-breaded from a box; very limited menu someone in lower bar area with a ladder working on something. We would not recommend or consider for lunch due to overall experience.

Positive - server was very nice and professional.

Loud, cavernous space with few diners and a loud open kitchen with loud “Top 40 radio” music blaring. We were seated at a table too big for our group so we couldn’t hear each other at all. The salads were either over or underdressed, the entree recommended by our server was inedible. Our server was well meaning but missed two of our orders so the manager comped us one of our entrees.

Located in the lovely historic Kimpton Cardinal Hotel, the atmosphere is gorgeous. Visiting from out of town, my husband ordered Eggs Florentine and I ordered Tomatos and Madrange Ham Omelette. His was delicious. Mine was fine. Nothing special or interesting and light on tomatoes and ham. But it could have been a tame selection. Mine came with a side of potatoes accompanied by a large ramekin of ketchup, all on the same plate...which made it the focal point of my meal, which was just weird. Service was ok, not spectacular. Barring the idiosyncrasy, it is a place I would try again.

Great French restaurant in Winston Salem! This town is relatively devoid of anything that is not southern food, everything we tried on the menu was very well done. Best French onion soup I’ve had in several years. Highly recommend

The restaurant is lovely, however the service was sub-par for a Kimpton property, and the food presentation was very lackluster. For example, instead of presenting a Cobb Salad with the lovely ingredients in full array, the meager portions of chicken, avocado, blue cheese, etc., were simply tossed into a bowl of iceberg lettuce. The place was not busy at all, but we had to flag down our server for more water, coffee, spoons, etc. We will return at some point, we hope they will provide more staff training in the meantime.

Third time eating at The Katherine. The only reason was the 'revamping'. While the food is good enough, it's not worth the price. I've said it before and will again. Paying 4.00 for coffee you should never flag someone down to get a refill, and this visit we had a lot of coffee grounds in the cups. There are way too many good brunch places downtown. We won't be back.

My wife and I had such a great experience at the Katherine this past Friday night. Our server, Kate, was outstanding and recommended some great adventurous cocktails that were absolutely delicious! The Smoked Monte Carlo was incredible and the presentation was so cool! For dinner my wife and I shared a few different items. The Washington State oysters were incredible and the mignonette was delicious and such a great compliment. We ended the meal by splitting the burger which was unbelievable and went with the mind blowing delicious fried Brussel sprouts as our side, yum. All in all our dinner, drinks, service and experience were fantastic. Can’t wait to go back!

We’ve had almost everything on the menu and the burgers or Sunday night fried chicken special it the best they have. We had the Saturday night New York Strip special for $34 and it had absolutely no flavor! For a $34 steak I’d go to Ruth’s Chris but honestly outbacks steaks are even better. They’re bar area ambiance is terrific and cocktails are off the charts. We decided after our dinner it’s best to go for drinks, oysters and burgers. Not for expensive fine dinning.

Great spot for a date night. My wife had the beet salad and loved it. I had the Caesar and it was also very good, with real anchovies. I had the escargot, and it was good, but I'd prefer more garlic, and personally I didn't like the mini biscuits it came with so I used the great bread they gave us. For main courses, my wife had Lobster and Potato Gnocchi and she said it was the best Gnocci she's had in a long time. I had the Bouillabaisse, and while the presentation was not the traditional soupy stew, it was REALLY good. We both had the Apple Tarte and they were also excellent. The service was very good, and even though they were busy, Eric G. took great care of us. His wine recommendation (Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc) was really good an paired perfect with our meals. My only complaint was it was a little too noisy, compounded by a particularly loud table near us.

Anniversary dinner that was done right! We were seated at a table in the corner, ideal for us. We decided to make an event of it, take our time, and really enjoy everything. We were pleased with the service and the quality of the food. If your order the pork chop come hungry because it was the size of my face but so delicious even reheated the next day! The one item that we almost forgot to order was by far our favorite... the side of Brussels Sprouts to share. These are not on the online menu but were a fantastic surprise!

Enjoyed the dinner, I ordered the pork chop, while my date got the Lobster gnocchi. Had the grilled shrimp, and Salmon Rillettes for appetizers. The only lackluster dish was the salmon,it was bland and had I known would of passed. Other than me not ordering the pork the way the chef would like to have served it best, all the other dishes were were great. The ambience was nice, and the bar area hip. The drinks were spot on as well. All in all a good spot for good food, drinks, and memorable dining
