It's a wonderful venue, with an ornate vintage interior – a perfect setting for 7pm New Years Eve dinner. So imagine my disappointment when our booking of four was ushered through the main dining room past the other guests, out the back into a bolted on conservatory. We were taken to our table while moving pushchairs, sidestepping babies sat on the floor and toddlers in dressed superheroes. The seating was uncomfortable with hard benches and the interior decor basically consisted of rugs on walls and air conditioning units. I was so disappointed I wanted to walk out there and then. But I was more disappointed with the food. The descriptions on the menu failed to prepare you for the most unappetising plates brought to the table. The food presentation was terrible. No effort was given to present or disguise our starters as anything other than mounds of 'seasoned paste' on a plate. Mains were no better. Both the chicken and pork Mtsvadi were cooked dry. The 'Khinkali' their famous pleated dumplings were basically six pear-sized, white dumplings put on a plate. The dumplings were so thick and stodgy that after your second one, you felt you couldn't go on. The beef in the Kharcho stew was tough and the walnut sauce was overpowering and over seasoned. We were so disappointed with the starters and our mains that we decided to just skip dessert, cut our losses and leave. There's nothing delicate about the food at this restaurant. If you want 'filling up' then the portions won't leave you disappointed. But it lacks the care, skill and presentation you would expect from a menu with these price tags. The service was wonderful and the staff warm and friendly but never have I been so reluctant to pay my bill or left a restaurant with so much resentment.

We had a fantastic dinner at Kartuli! It was our first time trying Georgian food and it was absolutely delicious. The owner was really friendly and chatted to us about the menu. Really generous portion sizes, beautiful restaurant and really cute dog! Would highly recommend

There are few foods in the world that can compare to khachapuri, and few places in London to get it

Lovely food though the chicken tomato dish was overcooked. However we didn't try the veggie dishes so will return for that. Service was excellent.

This was a magical treat. The beautiful environment, the gentle, attentive, efficient, friendly staff, the good wine and the magnificent food. I would like to eat there every night and hope they open in the daytime soon as I would love to have coffee there and sit for hours enjoying the atmosphere.
