We have eaten at Kaniz (5x) with family every time we’ve visited over the last 4 years. Food is great and able to take large parties. It is perfectly convenient for our last night before flying out of Heathrow. It is a 5 minute walk from the Hounslow Hyatt or a short cab ride from any airport hotel. Service and food is consistently great.

I booked this restaurant as a treat for my daughters birthday. Walking in I thought I had picked a lovely restaurant until we ordered our food!! For starters we ordered the mixed grill expecting it to come out sizzling,, quite baffled we continued eating but were very still surprised. As other customers turned up we noticed they had ordered the same mixed grill which came out hot and sizzling with smoke as we should have expected ours but when we questioned the waiter who is the bald one just fobbed us off by saying oh it sometimes doesn’t come out like that and that you can get it next time. I was absolutely stunned by his response but because it was my daughters special day I continued with the night. We ordered our main meal, which was makhani daal, okra. Lamb tikka masala and butter chicken. Now I am not sure what this restaurant thought that maybe we have never eaten Indian food before as there food was just not up to standards , the butter chicken was sweet, the daal had no spice, and the lamb just was served with more onions on the platter then lamb itself. The peshwari naan that one person in the family ordered was served burnt and when I said to the waiter about this he was not even apologetic about it. I was left feeling like I had committed a crime by asking him to replace this. Eventually it was taken away and she was served with another one. The service was terrible right from the start to the end of the night, trying to get the waiters attention when they should be seeing if you were ok. This place is more catered for the English people who like less spicy items not for Indians who like it spicy. I wouldn’t recommend my friends & family to come here. HS

Service was excellent and things arrived very quickly. Best I have seen in any restaurant. Drinks arrived on time, big ice bucket and water bottles. Really the service impressed me. With regards to the food I didn’t feel it was that good, I also felt they maybe using too much colouring as my chicken vindaloo came out very very red! But the taste was good. Was disappointed that they didn’t have green chillies on the curry and probably only used powered chillies. The fish was ok and had green chillies and must commend them on low salt. Because I felt the salt was perfect, however watched others adding salt which is good. As you can never reverse high salt Overall great pleasant experience however the tastiness of the food I felt average.

My friends were marooned in a dreary Heathrow hotel after a cancelled flight. We searched Opentable for a decent meal in a warm, friendly environment.... not easy around there, especially on a Sunday evening. From the moment we walked in until we (eventually) departed, Kaniz was a delight. Friendly staff; freshly made food; just the overall ambience we were hoping for. Instead of just ordering from the menu we talked to our waiter about what we liked and asked for recommendations. That led to a fresh fish dish (Tilapia), a complex, aromatic chicken dish and several vegetables; I don't remember the exact names or ingredients. The Tilapia dish was a bit too spicy for one of us, but perfect for me. For us, Kaniz transformed an otherwise depressing evening in to a nice, warm, uplifting culinary and social experience. It's very uplifting to discover a team of nice people working hard to deliver a great service, especially in the most unexpected places. Delayed and cancelled flights at Heathrow may be inevitable, but bad food and service are not. I hope that the hospitality at Kaniz will continue to uplift travellers and locals for many years to come :)
