Kabana is Richmond’s highest and most exciting rooftop restaurant and lounge by renowned lifestyle company LX Group in collaboration with Shamin Hotels. Located on the 20th floor of Hilton’s Hampton Inn and Suites and Homewood Suites in Downtown Richmond, Kabana brings diners unparalleled views of the city, including the iconic James River and Virginia State Capitol. In the event of poor weather/natural events, the restaurant may close the outside dining section resulting in the cancellation of some reservations. In these unfortunate circumstances, we will notify our guests and make preparations indoors if available.     The management and staff were awesome! The views were spectacular and the food was delicious! Will definitely be back for Sunday brunch and the Pineapple Mimosas again!

    I was not able to enjoy brunch here because of the rain. I couldnt contact them over the phone at all to see what I was supposed to do in the event of this. I didnt even know if I could reschedule or anything of that matter

    DO NOT GO THERE!! This was a Fathers Day Brunch we had to prepay for and the food was horrible, unsanitary and we complained. We were told we would get a refund by Cody who spoke to the manager Yosef Neeam. We still have not received our refund. The worst dinning experience we have ever had anywhere.

    I took my dad to brunch for Father's Day, and we were disappointed by the quality of food prepared. The eggs were flavorless, the chicken was overcooked, and the eggs benedict had a sloppy presentation. The views are amazing and the drinks were good, but overall the experience was expensive for the quality. They were also unable to make an espresso martini, even though they offer it on the menu, and it was brunch...I would return for a drink on a night out, but that's about it.

    Quality has really gone down, no adherence to dress code and the type of crowd leaves a lot to be desired. Tabletops left filthy, doesn’t match pictures online. Go somewhere else and thank me later.

    We were seated at our table and while the view was wonderful, no one ever came to our table to get our order. After 15 minutes my husband went up to the bar and told them we’d not had any waiter yet. She told us she’d get them to pop over. Another 20 minutes….still no one. My husband went inside to the indoor bar and ordered and paid for our drinks. He told them we’d still not had any waiter come to our table. He said he would get someone to come over. Another 10 minutes and still nothing. We finished our drinks and left. We told the manager on our way out and he seemed completely indifferent. We walked one block over to Capital Ale and had a server in minutes:). We ate a delicious dinner there instead. Don’t waste the time with this place!

    Horrible greeting from a group of hostesses who were all sitting on their phones sitting at a table. No one on staff had knowledge of Restaurant Week until The manager was brought in. The space did not feel clean or well-kept. Very different from images portrayed online. Over all very disappointed

    I had reserved an “Igloo” dinner for my 2 year anniversary. Once we arrived at the rooftop restaurant we were sat inside. Once we asked about our igloo we were told even though we reserved it and it shown as so that the igloos were not available since before Christmas. We made the most of our meal we had even with all of the staff singing karaoke very loud for our entire dinner. Very limited menu and food was ok. Our waitress was the high light of the night as her service was excellent.

    They called the night before and canceled our reservation, because they no longer offered the igloo experience. Only offered indoor seating when they have outdoor lounges available. Kept down payment too. Never will do any business with them again.

    I was turned away at the door, no refund has been issued. I had a combo with someone via chat because they wouldn’t answer their phone. I was clearly told in the chat I would be able to come but the igloo experience wasn’t available. I show up on time and was told THEN it was a private event. Private Event but I could pay $100 per person to get in. Hook, Bait, and zero for my trouble. False advertising at its best. I wonder how many people paid for the experience advertised but was turned away at the door. Poor customer service, poor planning, poor excuses, and poor marketing. My first experience with Kabana. Thank goodness for Casta’s Rum Bar was opened although we missed the New Year countdown. Ruin our night!!!

    This review may be a little unfair because we went in the winter. However, the outdoor seating in the winter should have heating. The holiday drinks were good, but the food was pretty basic.

    Reserved a Dine in igloo, was not properly ready for us. Rained through day our table was wet from water and never wiped down. No lighting super dark, asked for some lighting and brought candles and never lit them. Seating inside was not very comfortable had a bench with no cushion. Other chairs no cushion. Other igloo had nice cushioned seating and light. Drinks brought at good timing but appetizers took forever to come and were served cold. We were never given entree menus because they assumed we wouldn’t want to eat an entree in the igloo only appetizers and drinks and were never informed about that. Moved indoors after an hour and a half since service was absent. It was like they didn’t want to be of service outdoors. It was just my table and one other table and we had no one checking on us. Once we were indoors and ordered entrees that also took forever and steak was over cooked/burnt, burger was meh and our veggie player was supposed to come with spaghetti and never did then was asked about it they brought a tiny bowl of plain spaghetti. Ordered squash soup and was cold and flavorless Also service seemed to be pretty absent even indoors. Also had limited dessert since they didn’t have everything on the menu. would not recommend igloo dining here. Service was bad. Maybe I will try again in the summer and might be better. I brought my children in hopes for a winter fun dining and also had no winter Christmas like decor inside like I was expecting. Only thing I can say is the view is pretty but not worth the money, other places have views with good service.

    Our table that I paid $100 to book was 25 minutes late. The table was so poorly set up for 15 people, we could not actually talk to everyone. Very poor considering it was that expensive and I was put in a contract. I should be talking to management about at least a partial refund. I’d actually gone AGAIN after this on a Tuesday (for a 21st celebration) and the party I was with sat in the igloo. There was 0 communication about us being seated. So, we had to get up and ask to be served. They were out of basically half the menu, the waitress never carded any of us for drinks, and she had to go back about 3x to correct our checks. The ambience is beautiful and the layout/location is gorgeous, but the service and professionalism does not meet up to it. Very disappointing because this place could be a jewel in Richmond and it’s not because it lacks in a very important area.

    Service was terrible. Our server was never seen. People came after us and their designated server tended to them way more than ours did to us and they were a table behind us. Drinks were also bad. My previous experience was way better than this one. Won’t be returning.

    Made my reservation for 1:30 on a Sunday, on their website it says the open at 11. Showed up to the doors completely locked and no information as to why the restaurant was closed. No one was there.

    Considering I am not from Richmond, VA, I am not familiar with event policies. I made reservations online for 10:30pm expecting to have a good dining experience. Upon arrival the hostess states they do not accept reservations after 8pm on Saturdays. Therefore my online registration was null and void and we did not get to eat. I did not appreciate the misleading and I don’t plan to visit this place again.

    Wow. What a train wreck. The front of the house was completely disorganized. Lots of employees -- most of whom had no idea what they were doing. Several of the servers were incredibly rude, completely ignoring me when I asked for napkins (that were missing from our table). Instead, they continued to talk to each other, blatantly ignoring me. Our server, Sienna, was great. The food was great, so praise goes to the back of the house. Otherwise, this was a disaster. This spot could charge double or triple if only they started over on service.

    I was very disappointed with Kabana. I was so excited to get all my girls together for my birthday dinner and thought everything was set with kabana as I did my reservations 2 weeks ahead and got a call from they’re employees twice that Saturday 9/24 to confirm and to change me to a Outside kabana section which I told them I had a party of 10 and she said that’s perfect that we would just need to spend up to $300 to sit at the kabana since it’s a big party. I said no problem, I even asked do I have to put anything down to hold it. I was told no and that my reservation for party of 10 at the kabana section is set. I even called back to verify again to make sure, I was told your all set no worries we got you!. I get there at 7 for my reservation and of course the whole entire story changes, the host tells me you have to reserve 2 kabana so and 300 each. I was like WHAT! Wait that’s not what I was told as I spoke to your employees and they said otherwise. She said I’m sorry they gave wrong information I said well that’s not my problem that your employee gave me the wrong information when I have done reservations 2 weeks ago and verified and you come and change on me the day off my birthday are you serious. Then I ask for manager. Wow the worst manager treatment ever!!!!!!! Andrew was not professional at all. I’m a CEO of a trucking business myself so I know how managers are suppose to treat customers!!!! Not only did he didn’t acknowledge me when his employee was trying to let him know of the situation, when the situation was told to him, he didn’t even try to help he made it worse not only that he tried to speak to me and my party like were nothing, beneath him. I told him what was told me and confirmed with his employees. He still told me by law I had to get 2 kabana and pay 300 each plus 50 down for each. I told him let me see your by laws like you stated of course he couldn’t provide that. My whole issue won’t fit on blog, I need a owner to give me a call!

    It pains me to write a negative review because I've worked at restaurants and I know this is a tough business. However, our service was so deplorable, I feel it would be a disservice to other unsuspecting diners if I did not share our experience. We booked a table for 10, but saw that the cordoned off sofa areas looked so much more inviting and requested that instead. We were told there was a $300 minimum, but that was because we'd have a dedicated server. Our server was NOT dedicated. She was so inefficient -- drinks came out at all different times or not at all. We had to request a few times for some drinks. Our food came, but no plates. We requested plates from our server, a hostess (who instead continued what looked like a social conversation for 10 min. instead) and an assistant server before they were finally delivered after 10 minutes of requesting and finally approaching the bar. Dirty plates were not cleared, yet drinks in process of being enjoyed were. I could go on. I cannot fathom how Kabana is staying in business. I don't think even one other of the comfy sofa seat areas were being used - probably because of the RIDICULOUS $300 minimum. This is not a top-notch New York restaurant and the service was definitely not. It was a true shame because the food was really good and the view is spectacular, but you should not have to fight for drinks, food and service.

    I order a outside seating,the weather got bad when I arrived,however we were seated inside,after the weather got better I reminded the manager on duty at the time that I would like to go back to my initial seating ,he gave me the run around and was being racist to my group of people.I was not treated right and i will never go back If you are black the service makes you feel uncomfortable

    I made the reservation on OpenTable but when I arrived, did not get sitting “outside.” Apparently, my lack of understanding on what outside seating was, prevented my ability to be seated in the areas pictured on their website. Sky seating I think is what it’s called, was not explicitly identified in the reservation options so without seating in the expected spot, my group and I left.

    Worst experience I’ve had in recent memory. Terrible service. I can say an unforgettable experience, in the worst way. I can on only hope to forget the entire experience. Didn’t even get a chance to eat because I couldn’t wait to flee the establishment. Service was some of the worst I’ve experienced in my 38 years. The elevator ride down though was freeing and by far the take away from the evening. Strive to do better and recalibrate your people.

    I spoke to the manager about getting our server help because we had a big party and he said she wasn’t new to serving but confirmed it was her first day on the floor. The food wasn’t good but loved the rooftop portion will go back for the night life but will not be dinning there again.
