    From the moment you walk into Juniper & Ivy the service team makes sure to meet your every need. We were celebrating a special event and they made it even better. Special cocktails to start (try the mezcal with espresso). We tried several appetizers; tostados (wow), tuna (yum), quail eggs (soooo good). The entrees were suuuuper good. Whole fish for two. Lastly, we tried two desserts - peach cobbler and their signature dessert. Both were amazing. Wine selection had many options and we were happy drinking several by the glass. Did I mention that the service was outstanding!?!?

    Wonderful meal and service. The rock fish appetizer and heirloom tomatoes withe special relish was delicious. Our pastas and meat were fresh and high quality Z. We went with friends and colleagues. We highly recommend the restaurant and kudos to the chef!

    Great flavors, service, ambiance. Unique ideas but approachable. We split 4 dishes (1 app and 3 small plates) and it was a perfect amount for two people. So glad we experienced this gem while visiting SD!

    What an exceptional experience. I was traveling for business and the reviews prepared me for a high-bar experience and it didn’t disappoint. I was seated along with my preference at the chefs counter and had a full view into the kitchen. It was fun to watch and my food was outstanding. I will be dreaming of the tuna crudo in grape ponzu sauce for a long time. I also had the tuna hand rolls and the tartare and the egg ravioli. It was over the top and very rich and the smoked Parmesan was great. A fabulous experience.

    Juniper and Ivy is unparalleled in its physical beauty and design, food quality and creativity, professionalism of servers and sheer quantity of staff refilling water, etc. I have lived in NYC, San Francisco and San Diego and this is my favorite restaurant anywhere by a mile. You can see the chefs working in the kitchen, which I love and the Yodel dessert is not to be missed. I have been a number of times and I have never been disappointed in any way. Clearly it gets my highest recommendation.

    Some of the dishes were good and some were mediocre. The pasta and risotto were cold. And the risotto was not cooked well. There were crunchy bits in it.

    Got two apps, a small plate, and an entree. Culinarily, the night was all downhill. The rockfish tostada, needed a touch of salt, but was tasty. The hand rolls were good, but not worth the price point for the size. The uni linguini was good, but that could have been an entire with a slightly larger portion - this would have been better than the whole fish. There was 0 seasoning. Just an overcooked fish with some greens to make tacos. The bok choy also tasted like it was fished out of a 4 qt cambro of sesame oil. I watched our entrees die under the heat lamp for about 10 minutes. You wanna put the fish there to cool down post fry? I can get down with that. But why'd you put my romaine leaves there for 10 min too? Service was spotty. Looked like maybe 2 servers for the whole floor, large delay between apps and entree. And someone replaced my sparkling water with still halfway through a glass. An overpriced Applebees

    The service is fantastic. Our server knew all the menus inside and out and was able to answer all of our questions. The food was good but like the portions were insanely small for the price. Don’t get me wrong either I’m not expecting humongous “American” portions but this was ridiculous for the cost. I’ve eaten at Michelin restaurants before and they had small portions but several courses so you didn’t leave there hungry. I left this restaurant hungry. We both did. But the food was definitely delicious just not enough of it. I would not come here again tbh. Finding parking is an absolute nightmare. The planes flying overheard are loud and the price for what you get is just not worth it. I find this place to be extremely overrated. As far as drinks though, they have a great drink menu and surprisingly the drink prices are reasonable. Every drink we tried was really good so no complaints about that.

    I ordered the tuna crudo, couldn't taste the tuna at all, only hot peppers and vinegar dressing. The egg raviolo was very rich and delicious. The pork belly was a mistake to order, can't eat that much pork fat, but the bits of pork were delicious. Ambiance there is cafeteria style, very noisy and chaotic and the "bathroom" is weird, co-ed washroom....?? Overall, not impressed.

    Food was superb. Every course we had was excellent. The egg yolk raviolo with creamed corn was amazing. There was a fairly long hiatus between our second and third courses, which is why service rating is a 4 rather than a 5. However, the food was the star. Expensive but worth it.
