Great drinks, cool space. Super rude server, unfortunately, not a single smile or kind word to say. What’s the point? Just be nice, like we were to you. Food was very one note. Won’t go back.
Thank you for the feedback Kathleen. I'm very sorry to hear you had such a disappointing experience, our service is typically very highly rated. I'd love to hear more, and see if there's anything I can do to earn another chance to impress you. If you'd like, you can reach me directly at the restaurant, or fill out an inquiry form on the "contact us" page of our website and I'll get back to you immediately. -Will
Great food, good service.
The only negative I had was that the restaurant was so loud that I couldn't have a conversation with my partner - made worse by a group of people shrieking and talking at the top of their lungs. At my table, the noise registered 90 dB on the noise meter on my phone - almost painful. The food was not as enjoyable as it could be with that level of noise. It was to hot and steamy to sit outside (which would have been quieter).
I'd go again but try to pick a night that is not so painfully loud.
Salmon was bland; steak had a gross sweet sauce; and every meal was way overpriced. Service was good.
Love the food and margaritas! So fresh and innovative.
good food ok service fair value could be cleaner. everything had alot of spice
Meal was excellent, though it took awhile to come.
We sat outside on a beautiful Friday evening. Our drinks were delicious (I highly recommend the Paloma and Margarita), as was our food. Server was attentive and engaged. Lovely night out.
Perfectly poached eggs .. server Bella is amazing !
Delicious meal, wonderful service. We tried the chicharrones, duck, pork wrapped in a lot of tasty stuff, and the tres leches cake. All fantastic. We will definitely go back again!
We were a party of 7 o a Saturday night so this review must be taken in that context (also, perhaps, the fact, the 3 of the party are in our 70's!). The only thing to mar our delicious evening at The Junction was a loud (probably 20-something) party seated not far away from us. The service was impeccable--and the food wonderful!
Our experience was probably not typical, but it was not good. Our waitress was in training and it showed. My wife ordered the vera cruz and asked if she could have the side from the fish special instead of the one that comes with the dish. The waitress said that would be fine. After a short wait, we were informed that they were out of the vera cruz. There was a very long wait for the waitress to return to take my wife's next selection. She recommended the shrimp enchiladas. Then, they brought my meal along with the complete fish special dish for my wife... She had only asked for the side that came with that as a substitution, not the whole dish. They apologized and eventually showed up with the enchiladas which were swimming in oil and had only 3 or 4 nickel sized shrimp in each. It was not an appetizing dish. My wife sent that back and then ordered a salad just so she could have something to eat. On the bright side, they comped the salad and did not charge for the enchiladas (or the fish that we did not order in the first place).
Had to call the waiter over whenever he walked by as he never glanced at our table or made eye contact. Trying too hard to make creative drinks which are honestly terrible & Very expensive. Drinks also took way too long to be delivered. Our main dish special was good but we ordered the Brussel sprouts to go with it which were super oily & completely burnt. We left the entire plate uneaten. We love the atmosphere but will probably not be back unless we sit at the bar and only have a beer. 😣
We were seated quickly but server was slow to greet us, space was noisy, and food was heavy.
Junction offers a slightly different twist on Southwestern foods. Their brussels sprouts roasted with pork belly is a cacaphony of flavors on the tongue and not to be missed! Mains range from falafel over coconut/lime rice with spiralized veggies, to duck breast, to steak. My preference is outside under the roof overhang, but the interior is also very comfortale and a little quieter. Service has always been exceptional, and your servers will make suggesttions when solicited.
We ate brunch outside on the porch on a beautiful Sunday. Great food, great ambiance, great service.
Great food and great service-only complaint is that 2 out of the 4 people in our party were served their dishes a long time before the other 2 in our party got their food. Food was great and service otherwise was great too. Our glasses always filled.
Junction is a charming restaurant with excellent service, but the food did not match it. The chips and dip trio was bland and tasted like it was store-bought and the sirloin was overly charred and bitter-tasting. The cocktails we got were good, but honestly we won’t be returning for just cocktails. Junction did not meet our expectations at all. I’m surprised that the ownership hasn’t made improvements already to the menu given that The Local is so good (and partly the reason we tried Junction). I don’t see this restaurant lasting very long without some changes. This town has so much better competition.
Enjoyed an evening on the deck upstairs. Both the salmon and swordfish were excellent. Service was attentive but never hovering. Over a great experience
Best service and food in town!!
Been there 3 times now and will keep coming back. The food is delicious!
Junction is one of my favorite restaurants in Charlottesville. We came in with a group for my husband's birthday and the staff was wonderful. When I ordered our cake with them too late, they let us bring in our own and even served it to us without an extra charge. The food and service were fantastic as always. Thank you for making his birthday such a special experience!
Power went out and they did not give us a choice to cancel our order, but cooked and served us food in the dark.
Easter brunch. Good selection of items on menu. Service was great. Noise levels high. A lot of hard surfaces.
Food, service, and ambiance were all very good but it is simply too loud inside when full to have a comfortable conversation. Nothing for it but to shout.
Wonderful atmosphere with excellent service and great food. Excellent experience, but a busy place make reservations for a weekend.
Great selection of food. Waitress was very attentive and knew the menu (able to answer questions about ingredients related to food allergies). We ordered an appetizer and main course meals, which were all cooked perfectly. Definitely a place I would return to.
Disappointing meal. We've eaten here before and been very pleased. I guess everyone can have an off night. The game hen was overcooked and dry. Scallop ceviche tasted like raw scallops, not ceviche. (Yes, I've had ceviche before.) Etouffée was "off" according to the person who had that. Service had a few minor errors ( beer brought to wrong table, hard to get attention of server). We've been several times before and had good food and good experience so we'll probably try it again sometime, but with some hesitation.
Interesting menu. Well prepared. And how convenient to have parking behind the building!
Server was helpful in recommendations. Salmon was delicious. Tuesday shrimp tacos were also yummy 😋
You get what you pay for... Menu prices were pretty cheap and so was the food.
My wife and I really like Junction, but for some reason, it's never been a 100% positive experience. Last time was the service and this time my pork came out ice cold and I had to send it back. However, this time the service was great and the server was very apologetic about the temperature of my dish. Otherwise, the food was wonderful. Additionally, I got an email from OpenTable the day after saying I didn't show up for my reservation, but I did so I'm not sure what happened there. I do recommend Junction and will be back.
Nick, I'm glad you enjoy Junction so much but obviously disappointed that we haven't managed to 100% nail the experience on your visits. Next time you visit, ask for Will and I'll personally make sure everything is perfect! Also, in regard to the "no-show" on your reservation, that must have just slipped through the cracks, sorry about that! I contacted OpenTable and will be sure that they remove that status from your visit. Thanks so much for the feedback, and for your business.
First time visiting Charlottesville! Nick was a very personable, patient, and laid back (not uptight) server who made us feel at home. We wanted to change tables because it was cold outside and he made it no problem at all. The food was so delicious and the drinks were crafty and made our mouths water for more. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to visit a unique, special restaurant in Charlottesville, VA.
We had two terrific dishes-my wife etuffe(sp) and me-crab cakes. Both were very tasty and sufficient. This was a celebratory meal on our move from a 10 acre horse farm to an apartment.
Great service, wonderful drinks, very good food...we will be back.
Ceviche was delicious. Pricey cocktails, and the Cuban entree wasn’t great. It was OK, but not great.
Great brunch memo with large servings!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it, we're excited to now be part of the Charlottesville brunch scene!
Delicious creative cuisine and drinks with excellent service and very reasonable prices.
Great brunch experience at Junction. So glad to see they are offering one now. Definitely try the grits, they are amazing!
Fantastic food, Junction is a great spot if you’re looking for quality dining and a great place to spend the evening. Great ambience and good service
