We started out with the tomato, carrot and corn soup and our entree was the wild salmon entree with fresh tomatoes and cooked green beans. To say the least the meal was delicious. The service was impeccible and eating on the outside terrace was a lovely treat.

It feels like the place is just getting its bearings back after a long COVID isolation. New staff (at least to us), somewhat under-experienced, but very well-intended and make up for any lacks with great attitude. The food was surprisingly so-so: things were rather bland. Perhaps that was us. But, again, compared to pre-COVID, we were disappointed. The ambience is elegant and quiet and so I would go there even just for that, and hope things bump up to previous levels.

Food was very tasty. Portions were adequate. Waitress was pleasant & very helpful in dish selections. Her service added to the dinner's ambiance. Tables were sufficiently spaced apart. I appreciated them adding a birthday candle with the dessert.
The outdoor picnic dinner at Julia's is socially distanced, with a limited menu. The atmosphere is pleasant (Berkeley City Club upper terrace) and the food is very good. It can be chilly of a Berkeley evening.

I was disappointed with the quality of the food. The steak was chewy and tasted like the meat was old. The panacotta was a little too firm. Most food was under seasoned. The ambience & surroundings were nice but the food was not up to the standard I expected

Like all post-Covid restaurants, Julia’s is working to reopen. I could not tell from the quality of the food that they had ever shut down. The meal was excellent from beginning to end. We started with the smoked salmon appetizer and it was creamy and delicious and presented beautifully on a platter that included endive leaves. The gem lettuce salad was colorful, fresh and perfectly dressed. The hanger steak entree was a huge portion of deliciousness and came with grilled fingerling potatoes and green beans. The Mt. Lassen steelhead trout was fresh and expertly prepared. The trout was done to perfect and was not too dry nor was it undercooked and I have always found preparing fish to be challenging. For dessert we had the delicious lemon brûlée tart and it left me wondering if the brûlée sugar on top increased the intensity of the lemon flavor that was outstanding. The only sad thing was to see the dining room barely occupied due to ongoing covid restrictions. The building itself it and architectural gem and you should dine at Julia’s when you are in Berkeley.

Love this place! The terrace dining will transport you to another country. It felt like we were dining in Europe! Great service, delicious food, lovely space. Julia’s is a special place that never disappoints.

Just adore this restaurant, which is old-school classy with marvelous gorgeous farm-to-table food prepared to perfection & served by the most thoughtful and warm, friendly staff. What a treat this place is- I continue to bring my friends and family as much as possible.
Went here for our anniversary. Very friendly service but quite slow. The architecture was lovely and the food was good but not extraordinary. The menu is filled with classic dishes from flat iron steak, to duck breast.
