Absolutely enjoyed the food, service and the ambience, excellent value for a very fine evening eat -out with the love one !
Wonderful French food from a classically trained French born chef. Hard to find this type of food today. Good prices.
It feels like the place is just getting its bearings back after a long COVID isolation. New staff (at least to us), somewhat under-experienced, but very well-intended and make up for any lacks with great attitude. The food was surprisingly so-so: things were rather bland. Perhaps that was us. But, again, compared to pre-COVID, we were disappointed. The ambience is elegant and quiet and so I would go there even just for that, and hope things bump up to previous levels.
We had lunch on the Terrace of this beautiful historic building. The food was excellent and service exemplary.
Food delicious and nice outdoor setting. The service was friendly by a bit slow and amateurish. She never refilled our wine glasses and never asked if we wanted dessert.
the food continues to be fabulous but the service is a bit slow; felt safe at the urban picnic with lots of space between tables. will continue to be patrons there.
Delicious food and beautiful building. Definitely recommend
Best duck breast I have ever had in a restaurant.
Lassen fish lacked flavor ; I think a sauce accompanying it may have been forgotten by the server. The salad was perfect !
Food was very tasty. Portions were adequate. Waitress was pleasant & very helpful in dish selections. Her service added to the dinner's ambiance. Tables were sufficiently spaced apart. I appreciated them adding a birthday candle with the dessert.
The outdoor picnic dinner at Julia's is socially distanced, with a limited menu. The atmosphere is pleasant (Berkeley City Club upper terrace) and the food is very good. It can be chilly of a Berkeley evening.
Amazing in every way! Great service, great food, great location
First time back since start of the pandemic. Delighted to see some old friends and to find the excellent fare still excellent.
Chef Marcon at Julia's at the City Club prepares elegant French
dishes, rare in Berkeley, and the wine selection is excellent.
I enjoyed the duck breast followed by panna cotta, with a glass of
Chateau Saint Sulpice merlot -- a small French winery near Bordeaux.
Great meal in a historic and architecturally-significant building.
I was disappointed with the quality of the food. The steak was chewy and tasted like the meat was old. The panacotta was a little too firm. Most food was under seasoned. The ambience & surroundings were nice but the food was not up to the standard I expected
French cuisine; food was a bit too rich for our pallette; we needed to be more discriminating with our choices.
Very enjoyable. Although the weather was cold the temperature on the terrace was quite comfortable. The service could be improved by more effectively deploying everyone on duty.
It was out first time to dine in this historic building. The food was delicious and the staff is very friendly and attentive to every detail to make us feel welcome! A 5 stars experience! Thank you
It is a most excellent and delightful place to eat.
Like all post-Covid restaurants, Julia’s is working to reopen. I could not tell from the quality of the food that they had ever shut down. The meal was excellent from beginning to end. We started with the smoked salmon appetizer and it was creamy and delicious and presented beautifully on a platter that included endive leaves. The gem lettuce salad was colorful, fresh and perfectly dressed. The hanger steak entree was a huge portion of deliciousness and came with grilled fingerling potatoes and green beans. The Mt. Lassen steelhead trout was fresh and expertly prepared. The trout was done to perfect and was not too dry nor was it undercooked and I have always found preparing fish to be challenging. For dessert we had the delicious lemon brûlée tart and it left me wondering if the brûlée sugar on top increased the intensity of the lemon flavor that was outstanding. The only sad thing was to see the dining room barely occupied due to ongoing covid restrictions. The building itself it and architectural gem and you should dine at Julia’s when you are in Berkeley.
We just love everything about Julia’s- food, ambiance, service. Such a fabulous restaurant!
The food was good, not stellar. The service was fine and friendly. The ambience was nice. The wine list was limited and they didn't show the vintage.
OpenTable is annoying for harassing me to write a review.
Love this place! The terrace dining will transport you to another country. It felt like we were dining in Europe! Great service, delicious food, lovely space. Julia’s is a special place that never disappoints.
The staff, service, and food were exceptional. Maria and Abbas made our dining experience very memorable. Thank you!
Wonderful restaurant in the Julia Morgan Berkeley City Club. Great food!
They continue to provide an excellent food service while observing Covid care.
Just adore this restaurant, which is old-school classy with marvelous gorgeous farm-to-table food prepared to perfection & served by the most thoughtful and warm, friendly staff. What a treat this place is- I continue to bring my friends and family as much as possible.
Went here for our anniversary. Very friendly service but quite slow. The architecture was lovely and the food was good but not extraordinary. The menu is filled with classic dishes from flat iron steak, to duck breast.
It was magical. I felt like I crawled out of a cave and found nirvana
This was our first dinning inside experience since 13 months ago
The food was spectacular. The setting calm and relaxing. We could hear each other speak and the service was excellent
I celebrated my 70 th birthday at this location and plan to celebrate there again. At 75 !
Excellent food in a lovely Julia Morgan designed building. The staff was terrific
Such a lovely dining experience every way- food, service and atmosphere. Julia’s is top notch and UNIQUE!!
This is our favorite restaurant. We make it a point go to dinner at Julia'severy time we travel to Berkeley. The quality of the food, the atmosphere and the service are always excellent!
Marvelous service and ambiance. The food was good, too.
We were the only people in the patio (apparently a large party was cancelled) so the service was excellent, as was the food. The prices mean that it is definitely only a special-occasion restaurant.
the appetizer trout was wonderful.
For the entree I had duck. I liked the pear very much.
the lemon tart was decent.
Shasta trout appetizer was fantastic. Chocolate fondant dessert was wonderful with gooey chocolate sauce inside. Flat iron steak was cooked wonderfully.
Great experience! Got to come for an early dinner on a Friday and the wait staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The location was really fun and the dining room was tastefully decorated in a nice and comfortable vintage mission style. The lacquered duck breast, skirt steak, and desserts were all very good. Seriously worth a visit.
It was our first visit to Julia’s Restaurant. We loved the classic decor, kind staff & super generous meal portions! My favorite was my glass of champagne AND the chocolate fondant! ❤️ THANK YOU!
Because it was an anniversary, I had already asked for it when I made the reservation, but during the meal, the waitress did not give any indication of the anniversary☹️
