   Would you like to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of an Historic Hotel/Club designed in the 1920 s by renowned architect Julia Morgan? Right in the heart of Berkeley is this time capsule gem. The little dining room on the second floor is "Julia's". Food is delicious and the service sublime! Great place to take your love for a romantic date!

   The food is good. My family ordered Veal chop , Pasta and Duck breast. Veal is very good. Pasta no surprise. Duck breast so so. Can skip.

   We had a very good experience at Julia's. The dining room, in the second floor of the Berkeley City Club, is beautiful. Designed in a medieval style by Julia Morgan herself, it still manages to feel welcoming. The food was pretty good, we really liked the pork paté. My husband's veal was very good, but my duck a la orange fell short - thus the loss of a star. It had little flavor and the sides didn't help at all. Dessert was what I wanted: something not too sweet (the orange cake). In all, I'd go back but avoid the duck.

   Awesome. Wednesday 4/16 perfect evening for intimate romantic dinner. Cocktail, then wine with DELICIOUS dinner. Generous portions. We sat and dined. Truly dined.

   The ambience was not as good as on previous visits because they have strung LED lights around the bar that cast a cold and cheap-feeling light. Quite the opposite of candlelight!

   Beautiful space, but the restaurant seems like an after thought. The chairs were uncomfortable and the table was rickety. I am not sure if they are required to use period pieces because it is a historical building or it is an aesthetic choice. The food was fine. Nothing I would go back for.

    We have stayed at the BCC on numerous occasions and try to have at least one meal at Julia's during our stays. The food is lovely - well prepared, tasty and nicely presented - but an occasional change in menu would be nice. The service is very good - often by students from UC Berkeley, or other nearby universities. The dining room is also lovely, and especially notable to history and architecture buffs. Meals at Julia's are not inexpensive, and reservations typically need to be made well in advance.
