Juanita & Maude
Juanita & Maude's cozy dining room and bar is the perfect spot for a night out, celebratory occasion and special private events. Conveniently located near the corner of Solano and San Pablo Avenues, Juanita & Maude is the perfect place to eat before a show at the Albany Twin, Ivy Room or simply seeking an exceptional experience.
Excellent food, tasty cocktails, fantastic service, lovely local dining experience!!!
The outdoor patio was comfortable on a cool night. The staff was inviting and attentive and the food was outstanding. The olives and the scallop crudo were delicious as were the tacos and pork buns. The salmon entree was cooked perfectly, lasagna, and steak were also big hits at the table.
We were really impressed with the host and our server - both were exceptional.
Love this restaurant for date night or special occasion. The food is spectacular. We prefer sitting outside as the ambiance is good for conversation and warm with the heaters. Love it!
It is a charming spot with so much personality!! Every one in group loved their meal!! A real gem!!
last time we will eat here. It’s overrated now, the portions were small for the price and lackluster. The ribeye was two pieces of meat about 2”. cubes and actually tasted like sirloin for $34. The scallop crudo was soggy and needed some crostini or something for texture. We used to enjoy this restaurant but alas they seem to have gone downhill.
Obscure spot on San Pablo in Albany. Only found it walking by earlier in the day, but from the crowd on a Thursday night, it is no secret. All dishes were spot on and flavorful: tempura vegs appetizer (light coating), risotto starter, and rib eye steak (pieces versus a whole steak).
This neighborhood restaurant is really special. The menu is unique and everything from lasagna to steamed buns is delicious. The atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious. We are fortunate to live nearby and enjoy taking our friends.
Receiving our cocktails was a bit of a wait, but our server was delightful and apologetic. Our food was interesting and delicious.
The food is good but it is not proportionate to the cost.
Food was good, portions are small. Recommend ordering an appetizer or something from their "firsts" in addition to a main course. I had the vegetarian main course and was disappointed at the meager amount of vegetables and tiny bit of rice. the desserts were delicious and beautifully presented. The service was good.
Saw an episode on KQED's CHECK PLEASE and Juanita & Maude was one of the featured restaurants. I'm glad I had made a 5:30 reservation for two as by 6:15, all tables were filled! I loved everything about this local place. It is small and intimate, the bar is very well stocked to make their inventive cocktails, the service is non-intrusive and warm and the food is absolutely fabulous! I can't wait for my next dining experience there.
Everything we ordered was fantastic. The outside seating area is cozy and heated. Service was attentive and we enjoyed interacting with them.
Very interesting menu; tried the gem salad, chicken tacos, red curry chicken and gnocchi. All were very well prepared and delicious. Will return to try other options on the menu.
Overall the food was great. The salmon dish was perhaps the best salmon I have ever had. The pork buns were very creative and tasty. The curry dish was a little disappointing.
Really great service and good food. Well prepared and tasty, but not exceptional. For a small place the noise level really eclipsed the atmosphere. The layout of the restaurant seems to put about 70% of the tables in the frenetic zone of waiters/bussers/host/etc. Too bad; I had high hopes, but I’ll not go back in favor of a calmer dining experience.
Food was very good, but portions were small and prices a bit too high relative to other restaurants of this caliber. Won’t rush back. Too bad, O was really look forward to this.
Always a pleasure! The ever changing cocktail menu is so fun. The service is friendly and well informed. The atmosphere is cosy inside and welcoming on the back terrace. The food is delicious. It’s become our go to neighborhood spot for a special gathering or a last minute night out.
Great offerings of food, wine, and dessert. I had the best mushroom risotto I’ve outside of a friend’s home cooking (she’s Italian, Sicilian). Wine was excellent, a 2017 Zinfandel by Day my friend chose. I usually don’t like Zinfandel’s. I know the menu is changed often but the risotto should always be on it.
Always great food and service. This is our go-to place for dates and special occasions.
Top notch all around. Will be back!
We loved the 5 course Valentine's Day dinner. A thoughtful and interesting menu with interesting options and amazing live music for a portion of the evening. Really wonderful!
Overpriced, slow service, mediocre fusion. The food tastes like a white person trying to impress his Asian in-laws. That said, it was a unique experience but not one I would want to try again.
The hubby and I do not get date night very often so when we get the opportunity we splurged. We had the perfect Valentines Day evening with wonderful food and drinks! It is on the pricier end so this wouldnt be an everyday stop but love that they are a neighborhood gem
Best hamburger and fries. But at $21, it ought to be.
Excellent, well balanced dishes. Superior service. Really loved the outdoors seating.
The food was truly excellent. On paper it didn't sound that exciting, but the execution of everything far exceeded my expectations. It was a winter menu, so while everything sounded good, nothing stood out as being "must haves". When the food did arrive though it was full of flavour and cooked to perfection. The drinks were also really good. The main downside was the service. The host seemed pretty spacey. On arrival he said he'd see if our table was ready and then disappeared for 5-10 minutes and didn't tell us whether to get a drink, or to wait. Then during the meal the service was a bit slow at times. Our table all ran out of drinks and water at one point. All the servers were very nice though, so not deal breakers, but something that stood out. I'd definitely go again though and really want to try their spring and summer menus.
Went there for my mom's 84th birthday . Staff and food were excellent.
It's a small restaurant, and was a little noisy but would go back there again!!
One of the best experiences in the Bay Area.
We absolutely loved this place! First time visitors and everything we ordered was wonderful and the service was seamless. Our server was very attentive, letting us know twice that the pork chop was close to gone if we wanted to reserve one. The atmosphere was cozy and fun. We will absolutely tell our friends and go back often!
We have been enjoying meals with friends here for several months. The food is always wonderful and the service is impressive. We usually dine on the patio because it's quieter.
Amazing service all around. I made a incorrect reservation and they went above and beyond to accommodate. And as usual food and coctials were wonderful. Outdoor patio was very quiet and comfortable even on a cold night.
Love this place! It's a neighborhood "regular" kind of place, but it's entirely special at the same time. Food is excellent, every dish.....
Fabulous food and a nice, casual ambiance. Friendly and attentive staff.
The food at Juanita I don't need that many plate and cutlery changes and picture an unnecessary pile of dishes. The space is pleasant visually but on this cold night draughty; management should probably have noticed the number of guests keeping their coats on. Some might find J we will come back.
we had a lovely meal at Juanita & Maude's for our anniversary. the food was both sophisticated and familiar, making it a real comfortable experience for us as diners. Jeanene and the rest of the staff were wonderful, as well.
Consistently interesting and delicious
Food was good but a little fussy with relatively small portions. Menu was limited. Ambience was nice but, overall, we felt that the value was just OK for the price.
Juanita & Maude continues to innovate and some of that pans out better than others -- but I love that they try and it's always at least good, sometimes great. Prices seem a little high for a "neighborhood" restaurant, but we tend to go here for special occasions anyway. Definitely a solid experience .
Hi there, I took my fiancé to Juanita & Maude after having a lovely birthday dinner with friends last year. The service was fantastic and the drinks were great, but the food left a lot to be desired given the price. We got the gnocchi and the steak, and both were completely average (the gnocchi were a little below average, very dry!). Was hoping for something a little more special.
