Taka Watanabe has been making sushi for over 30 years. He arrived in the U.S. In 1986 from his native Brazil, where he was raised by Japanese parents but educated in Portuguese. His parents instilled in him a love of good food, and cooking. He remembers fondly watching his mother make sushi for the family on special occasions. As soon as he arrived in the Bay Area, he immediately found work in a Japanese restaurant, where he quickly learned to make sushi.

Wonderful place for amazing food. Our server Sam was awesome. She was there for us, very kind explaining all the different food on the menu. Beautiful inside, very clean and welcoming. Everything was prepared in a way that was picturesque, so get your cameras out. The Ju Hachi roll was so good. Fun place to kick back and grub. Eat with confidence.

They didn’t honor our reservation. Even though we made it days ago, they refused to serve anyone with a reservation after 7:30pm. We canceled other dinner plans to try this restaurant since we had never been. We will not be going back.

It was Valentine’s Day so it was very busy. There was an issue with open table and the restaurant and they did not have any of the reservations that were made. So walking in we were standing a crowd that had reservations but didn’t have tables. The first thing we noticed was just how hard everyone was working to do everything they could to make everyone’s experience a good one when it was obviously very stressful for them. My partner decided to help out and went to the bar. He got a bunch of sake and made everyone’s evening by giving everyone waiting a sake which made waiting a few min for a table much more fun! We waited about 15 min for a table and had an amazing valentines dinner. The waiters, the kitchen, the hosts, everyone was amazing!!! One of the owners came over and thanked us for our patience and for helping diffuse a tense situation with some sake and dessert on the house. I love this place! Amazing food and an amazing team of people! It’s unfortunate that because of an issue with open table some people didn’t have a good experience that evening but I have to say the team at this restaurant did everything they could to make everyone’s Valentine’s Day special.

Lost the reservation, but otherwise the experience was outstanding, food was great, service was great, value priced, ambiance was okay, would recommend to anyone who loves sushi and Japanese food.

We came here for Valentine's Day, with a reservation. We waited 5 minutes after, absolutely no biggy, and were seated. Our server kept our waters full all evening and regularly checked to ensure we didn't need anything. We had a variety of food, gyoza and sumai, 3 sushi plates and a plate of tempura fried chicken. Everything was outstanding. If it's a busy night, reserve a table. Great location with plenty of parking nearby. Definitely recommend and will be back for future meals. ありがとうございました！よくできましたね！食べ物が美味しいだよ！

The sashimi was good and I tried the spinach appetizer and it was great too. a little crowded due to valentines day but that's fine. Waitress was very nice.

I’ve been eating their food for over 15 years. It’s the best sushi money can buy. Definitely will continue to go, time and time again I am satisfied.

Service was extremely slow, received appetizer after receiving main course and had to ask for it. Lamb pops were over cooked.
