   Delicious food and drinks. Outdoors is lovely. I ordered red snapper and mussels and highly recommend. Enjoyed their egg white cocktails too. However the indoor ambience is very loud - nothing to absorb the sound in this old house. You can hear every conversation across the room. They should put some carpets in or fabric wallpaper to help absorb sound so it’s more comfortable for conversing indoors.

    We have recently rediscovered Josephine House—twice in the last 2 weeks. We have been telling all our friends about how excellent the food is —and the service. We were there for weekday brunch both times and enjoyed it immensely. Best burger I have had in Austin in years. Great value for the quality.

    The food was absolutely perfect! I am not sure why we ordered separate meals because we agreed to share each dish and I am glad we did. We started with the hue is rancheros. They were wonderful, probably not what you’re used to, but they were good, until we started with the pancakes. Fluffy with a light lemon flavor I suspect. We were concerned that they didn’t have enough syrup, but we started before we had time to get the attention of the waitress and ate them without syrup; we all agreed that we didn’t need syrup. Finally, the shrimp and grits. That took the entire meal over the top. The grits were creamy with a light, but flavorful broth, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly! The setting was nice…to top it all off we were outside in May and we were blessed that it wasn’t too hot. It is now my favorite brunch spot in Austin!

    Overall, Josephine House was a pleasant experience. Waited a long time for our drinks in the beginning & the portion sizes are on the smaller side. The outside area is nice though & we were not rushed at all to finish our meals, so we were able to stay for a while.

    Great meal and great drinks. We went on Sunday afternoon to enjoy a beautiful afternoon. Loved our time on the patio. The beet and feta salad was fabulous and we were big fans of the fish dish. We’ll be back!

    I booked a table for my boss and then marked her as a no-show even though she tried to call them 7 times (and left voice mails) saying she was going to be late. They never answered their phone and by the time she arrived to the restaurant, they had given away her table. Now I’m apparently banned from using OpenTable because of the “no show” which stinks because I had reservations for my husband’s birthday next weekend. Absolutely terrible customer service. They don’t take the most basic of responsibility (answering their phones or checking voicemail) and then have the audacity to call it a no-show, negatively affecting my ability to make future reservations. I only used Open Table to begin with because they never bothered to answer their phone at the time I was trying to make the reservation.

    We absolutely LOVED Josephine House. Maybe my new favorite restaurant in the area. The service was a little slow, but in a way that extended the evening in the charming environment and kept the pace luxurious. I can't stop talking about the food! Unique dishes, perfectly balanced. Really good portions for the price. We ordered 8 plates at our table and every single one was a hit. Already recommended to friends.

    Steak night was a blast, had the ribeye and wife had the ny strip. I definitely recommend the ribeye. Service was great and the free wine just placed this restaurant at a 5 star for value and food quality. Only thing I would say it was kinda loud and I had to ask my wife to speak up a few times. A definite must try here in Austin.
