Beautiful place to have brunch with a friend. The staff was super sweet and the decor is done just right.
Great food and staff!!
Lovely place for an unhurried alfresco catch up chat. A little overpriced and low on variety for brunch, but the stellar service and gorgeous outdoor setting made up for that and the parking challenge.
Fun and great service from Finn!
Although the food is good at Josephine House, the portions are small (except for the hamburger), and the prices are high. Twenty four dollars for a cheese board which contained four bites of cheese was unbelievable. It was barely enough for a small portion for one person let alone for the table.
Josephine House is perfect in everywhere! The service, food, menu curation, ambiance all made for the best brunch. A sweet place that allows you to slow sip on coffee, nibble on a homemade pastry, and stay awhile.
Loved the food
Always the best - JH has been in our top-five since they opened. One thing: be sure to sit outside. The interior is charming but way too loud.
Wonderful food, lovely setting, a good place for a special event.
Very nice place to enjoy lunch. Food was excellent, ambiance is amazing.
This place is a gem. We ate outside, which is charming. The food was excellent, as always. The service was fine. They make their own bread, which is crazy good. I’ve never had a bad meal here, never even a so-so meal. Always great.
Amazing brunch and atmosphere! Will definitely be going back
While the servers were good, they completely understaffed the bar. We had to wait about 20 min after ordering drinks when we got there. Food appeared with proper timing and was very good. Steak frites is overpriced for quality of beef. While it was good, it was not a $40 steak by far (in the Austin area). But all other food was excellent. I liked our table outside, but it is a little uncomfortable sitting next to peeling paint on the wall.
Delightful. Very happy that valet parking was available.
The setting is very charming inside the small house and outside on the patio. The food was good but the menu was very limited and pricey, especially for lunch. I’ve been there for dinner and felt the prices were fair, even though it’s the same menu for lunch and dinner.
The service was excellent and we were seated immediately based on our reservation. The coffee/cappuccino are top notch. All the food was extremely fresh and came to the table at a perfect temperature. The flavor of all ingredients was good, but I would not consider this a 'value' restaurant in any form as it was a little pricy for what it is. I understand this is a niche restaurant and was overall very pleased.
Food was delicious and loved our outside booth. Great ambiance
We went for a Saturday brunch. We were celebrating our anniversary with a staycation and Austin food. The restaurant is the cutest. The weather was gorgeous and I wish we had asked to sit outside. We tried a couple of pastries, the pop tart and cherry cheese tart. Both were amazing!! We went for the waffle and the lemon ricotta pancakes next. AH-MAY-ZING! Best pancakes ever!! More than I could finish-thankful my hubs was with me and they didn’t go to waste. Their chocolate crunch hot tea was also a hit. And also amazing. Overall, it is a little on the pricey side, but our experience was so great. The waitress was very friendly and engaging and made great recommendations. Would definitely go back!!
Lovely find! Highly recommend. Very relaxed but also feels special. We went on Steak Frites night - great concept but wine options would make it better (option to upgrade?).
VERY NICE AND COZY PLACE. LOVED IT . MENU IS SMALL BUT VERY GOOD
It was great!!
Went here for brunch for our last day in Austin. My boyfriend and I were late due to marathon traffic but my friends were on time and I appreciate them being seated even though our whole party is there. Very cute restaurant in a old house with a little bit of outdoor seating in the front and several outdoor tables in the back. Menu is small but enjoyable and the coffee was amazing and much needed. Whole affair was almost spoiled bc our waitress was pretty rude. She let rushing us and saying “well I have reservations at this table”. Um? We also had a reservation? Still would recommend this place and would likely go again.
Perfect personal ambiance made for great conversation...even outdoors under the heat lamps! Little extra touches in flavor translated to excellent dishes. Already planning to come back after this inaugural visit.
Great food. Awesome atmosphere
I reserved through Open Table and requested a quiet table due to my hearing impediment. I chose an outside table in the reservation. We were seated at 515, promptly, in an almost empty restaurant, Directly in front of the door hostess and servers use to come in and out, plus next to the machine to enter all orders. I sat assuming they knew some of the more isolated tables, lower down the patio were somehow noisier. Normally I would have complained, but I am disabled and was in a significant amount of pain and having trouble walking that evening and didn't have the energy. Our server was helpful but not attentive. From order to arrival our two entrees took 40 minutes; again, if there was an easy explanation we would not have an issue. The food was incredible. I think we will return but when I am feeling well enough to complain about these issues and being VERY specific in my seating request. BTW it says accessible, but it's "people-who-aren't-disabled-designed" accessible; you understand. We can manage a date night every 3 months and this wasn't what I was hoping for.
Unwelcoming vibe in quaint digs with 5,000 dollar purse carriers who talk about whites people problems. Host doesn’t smile but rather is all business to get you in and out. Fortunately the food is fantastic. It has that going for it.
