Texas red fish, avocado, coconut milk, lime, cilantro, serranos
Park Cities Enchiladas
Beef tenderloin, peppers, onion, monterrey cheese, chipotle crema
The wine list needs some work as they need a variety for those of us that do not drink tequila or mezcal.
The red wine list offered very few choices. The appetizer
Queso fundido was very good as was the corn tortillas.
The street corn was also very tasty, as well as the tacos beef al carbon. Was not a fan of the chicken enchiladas Suiza, chicken had no flavor. Our waiter Carlos was very friendly and helpful.
Fountain has a mildew odor. Otherwise everything was amazing
Second time there . Good was great the first time the second was just blah
Awesome food with an outstanding server. It is always an exciting place to share a meal.
Enjoyed my lunch at Jose's. The food was great and the service was good. Very relaxed atmosphere with outside seating available. It was a bit frustrating that the waiter came to the table and swiped my credit card but never brought me back a receipt. I had to go to the front and request one. Seems to me a receipt should be automatic, either by email or paper. Or at least the waiter should have asked me if I wanted one.
Fabulous menu, great food and drinks!
It was very nosy inside, we sat outside and it was much better.
Ok, here’s the thing.... my spouse and I were never fans of Mexican or Central American food. Either it was too spicy, too Tex-Mexy, whatever....
Well, we decided to try it again. We went with friends that love this food. Jose was a restaurant they highly recommended that we try for our first foray into authentic and good Mexican food. The food did not disappoint. It was prepared well. Tasted great.
We will be dining at Jose again.
Unfortunately, our experience started off negatively in the parking lot when valet questioned us parking in handicap parking. My husband is a disabled veteran with a handicap DV plate. He was told that handicap parking is Reserved for their “VIPs” by their valet. This is highly concerning as we were there on the anniversary of 9/11 that they would miss use handicap parking for as they described ‘luxury vehicle‘s’ and ‘VIP’ patrons. It was difficult to recover the overall experience when that was his introduction to the restaurant. Hopefully they can educate their valet on how to properly and legally use handicap parking.
Great Tell you about it later
Our hotel concierge at the Mansion at Turtle Creek rec’d José for dinner and it was a home run! The food is creative and delicious, the cocktails were sublime, and the space is SO stylish and cool. It was busy on a Thurs night, but not overwhelming. We absolutely loved it and cannot wait to go back.
Waiter forgot our drinks and the food took quite a while to come out in spite of a fairly empty restaurant. Waiter was very pleasant and the food was good though.
Beautiful space. Nice that they have the complimentary valet (just working for tips). Cocktails were exceptional! As were the handmade tortillas. Large portions for the entrees. Loved the soft shell crab and Veracruzana style fish.
Nice place, with very well-designed outside patios. Service is OK, though you don't get the sense that the staff is energized by their jobs. The key downside is the food. It is vapid and tasteless. We tried some enchiladas and fish tacos. I literally left most of my enchiladas untouched. My wife had the fish tacos, and while they were nicely presented, they had no taste (including the sauces). This stuff is not hard to make, so clearly the cuisine is not their priority. Looks like they want to exploit their location and decos, and maybe it's a good place for drinks and chips (though even the chips were stale).
All in all, a vastly overrated and eminently forgettable place. And not cheap either, so it cannot be excused as a dive for cheap Tex-Mex.
Ailyn our server was the best. Professional and so nice and warm. The food was fantastic as always. Thank you.
Jose is wonderful, especially in a Monday for lunch with friends. Thank you for requiring masks! The staff and our server were delightful. The food was delicious as always, but I gave four stars as the tortilla chips that came with our guacamole were stale.
Went after learning Jose had won the Dallas Culturemap Tastemaker Award for
Restaurant of the Year. While I wasn't disappointed, I was definitely underwhelmed by the food. Go with tempered expectations and you will have a great time!
Ask for Jorge to be your server! The food is fantastic and the ambience and building is unique.
Decent food, good drinks
Fantastic service!! Great food and drinks 👏💕highly recommended
Outstanding as always!
The restaurant was very warm. Not sure if air was out or because the door for the patio was opening a lot but it got a bit uncomfortable inside
The food was so so. Not really better than other Mexican restaurants. There were a lot of flies inside. So many that we had to constantly shoo them away from our food. I've never been in a restaurant with so many flies. Service was o.k. Nothing to rave about. We probably won't go there again. We have so many restaurants to choose from.
Love Jose! Food and margaritas are spectacular! Staff is great and it's always a fun night there!! We'll be back!!
The chef stopped at our table to chat and the service was great!
We went for lunch. Date day. Ordered a couple of drinks. which were excellent, and tacos. Pork for him, steak for me.
We sat outside, which was quite picturesque.
Had a lovely time and look forward to returning for dinner.
I had a reservation for 5 people and when I arrived, the hostess asked me if my party would like to sit at the traditional u-shaped bar! No, we are a group that wants to be able to sit at a table and converse over dinner. We were seated at a table. The place was so incredibly loud, we were shouting to hear each other, we couldn't hear the waiter well and it was just exhausting by the end of our dinner. The food and cocktails were very good but I couldn't wait to get out of there because of the noise level. I won't go back in the evening until it's cooler outside and I can sit outside with less noise reverberating!
We try to eat at Jose once a week. Hands down the best in the city.
I love Jose's and enjoyed celebrating my friends birthday there last night. The noise level inside was a bit loud so we moved to the patio where they had fans blowing and it was easier to hear each other. The ceviche was excellent.
I was not happy with how they rushed us to order as soon as we sat down. They had an event and had to close 45 mins after we sat down. They should have informed me prior to our reservation.
Guacamole: was not as flavorful as usual - tasted more like Avocado Mash.
Kale salad with Salmon: salmon had excellent, smoky flavor; dressing was heavy in the vanilla flavor; the kale could have been chopped fiber since the leaves were tough.
Park Cities Enchiladas: steak was a bit chewy.
Service: Team was friendly and very responsive, and Management was present and engaged with team and customers.
The food quality was not as it has been in previous visits, and I am sure this is likely a result of getting new staff up to speed with expectations as many restaurants have been experiencing. Will give it a little time and try again in a couple of months.
Our 5:00 reservation on a Saturday started out okay enough with prompt attention from our server, Hector, to order drinks and a discreet aside to me that he was aware of the occasion being my spouse’s birthday. Hector said that he would bring out a birthday treat after the meal. Lovely, I thought! My iced tea and spouse’s mojito took quite a while, especially considering the dinner crowd hadn’t yet arrived. We ordered an appetizer and the waiter seemed surprised that we were ready to order dinner (it had been 20 minutes since we were seated).
Fast forward: appetizer arrives and spouse orders another drink (which never arrives). My iced tea has been empty for 10 minutes - it will never be refilled, despite the adjacent table receiving refills from their server. We have to ask multiple times for more water for the table. Dinner comes and another nearby table is celebrating a birthday with a plate of dessert samples - fun! 40 minutes later (20 after we finished eating) our waiter materializes again to deliver the birthday surprise of…a bowl of ice cream with a candle in it. Hector does not offer anyone else at the table dessert nor does he ask if we need anything. I ask for the check and he asks for my card. I say I want to see the bill since my spouse never got the 2nd drink. “Oh, right - I forgot to put that order in…sorry.” Unreal. We will never be back. Thanks a lot for the horrible experience, especially on a known birthday.
Best good ever!!!
Food was very good but definitely felt Overwhelmed with volume of people
Celebrated Birthday! Great evening with perfect service and food
The partially enclosed dining area is delightful even on a hot July afternoon. The seats by the fountain were the perfect place for dinner for two. Inventive menu and cocktails made for a great time.
Great drinks, great service, and some really good food. Loved the Witch Doctor and the pork carnitas. The vegetarian had the potato/cheese flautas and loved them. Would definitely return!
We sat at the bar and had a fabulous lunch with our bartender… I wish I gotten his name but he said he had only been there three weeks. We share the enchiladas with mole’ sauce and it was out of this world as were the top shelf margaritas with the added Grand Marnier! We will be back.
We were just passing through on our way to Austin and we are so thankful we did
I’m surprised to report our meal lacked flavor, salt, spice, and (literal) heat. I used salt from the rim of my margaritas to season two of our courses. Not to mention, the various margaritas are overpriced for the small glass they come in, at $14 each. We ordered the pork riblets, ahi tostadas, guacamole, fresh fish tacos, adobo chicken, and both beef enchilada dishes. The main courses were lukewarm when they arrived. Don’t know why this place is popular. I agree with other reviewers —there are much better dining options in the city.
