Jonathan's The Rub
Jonathan’s consistently delivers great cuisine with options that vary widely, from the tuna my friend ordered to the off menu juicy Lucy burger to satisfy my craving. It was an unusually slow night (only two tables) so we were in separate rooms but they’re doing a lot to make the dining experience safe anyway. Whether you dine in or order take out, their food is always great - support local!
We went to Jonathan's the Rub on Gaylord for the fried chicken special they were offering last weekend. It was the best fried chicken either of us have ever eaten. We also had very nice side salads, one greek and one caesar, and an excellent piece of coconut cream pie large enough to share. Fried chicken is not on the regular menu but chicken and grits are as well as a fried chicken and shrimp which I'm sure are excellent if prepared the same.
Service was disappointing and there were 3 tables occupied...
Great location, excellent service and food was outstanding.
Never ceases to please! Always a sure thing! So glad y'all are still around. :)
The service was very good and no complaints about our food. However I was shocked to walk in and find the tables set up exactly the same as before the pandemic. There may be 30 inches between the rows of tables but the chairs to the table in front or back of you are less than 10 inches when seated. All of the waitstaff wore masks, but I noticed no extra effort in wiping tables between seatings.
I will wait until Houston is not increasing daily with both diagnoses and deaths before returning.
Jonathan’s is our favorite, date-night restaurant. The service is always top notch. We love the option to share a slightly larger entree. We usually bring our own wine, but they also have very good options by the glass and bottle. We are so very happy that Jonathan’s was able to survive the quarantine.
Amazing food from start to finish. Great service. Wonderful to see people out having a good time.
Took over an hour to get our entrees. Waited 15 minutes after appetizers to even get silverware. Service was definitely painfully slow
Gave it 2 stars simply because we were excited to be 'out to eat'. I ordered the Chicken Piccatta. It was tasteless. Didn't come close to finishing. Our appetizer, crab cakes, was a little too much cake and not a lot of crab. Good wine.
Can't say we'll be back as we need more of a sure thing when we splurge on dining out.
This place is great! They have amazing steak and are BYOB. Went there to celebrate my one year anniversary with my husband. The atmosphere is very chill and the waitresses were awesome! They definitely helped make the night special.
Excellent food and choices. The quail dish was to die for!
Fabulous food, wonderful service and BYOB makes it even more special!!!
The food, feel, and service was exceptional with my experience. Being a great place for a nice date. Also, I never felt worried about safety, because the servers were very careful in what they touched and gave to us. Overall wonderful experience, will definitely go again.
Our service was very good and food quality tasty. Look forward to returning there.
Delicious food, great service.
Ours was an extended family gathering, with nephew and family who have loved Jonathan's for several years. Jonathan's is always our first choice, as a couple or for guests. It is always a lovely, cozy, and delicious experience, with excellent service!
I picked Jonathan’s the Rub for my birthday dinner because I heard great things and I was not disappointed!! We all had excellent food and the service was great!! The menu is very diversified and I’m sure everyone can find something they would love!! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!!
Had a family dinner for 9 & food & service were great! Jonathan & Sam Levine took very good care of us! Thank you!
Great as usual, the team did a great job and the food was awesome.
Way overpriced for what we got. 4 nice scallops and a lump of mashed potatoes for $36. There was no attempt to make the plate look more appealing. Cioppino, also $36, was flavorful, but I was never offered any bread to soak up the broth. Jonathon's used to be much more value, but he seems to have lost his way.
Excellent food & service.
Anothe amazing meal. Love how well the team works together!
Everything was DELICIOUS! It was our first time eating there and we will def be back.
We are regulars here, the food is always delicious, the service always efficient. This time however the service was rushed, the brought out my diner salad before the appetizer then we waited 20munutes for our main course to arrive after we finisged the mussels. Hard to share mussels when your dinner salad is in the way. They also made a big error in our bill charging for 5 dinner sales not the one we ordered.
Honest mistake but they really acted rushEd
We asked for some more. Read to enjoy the mussels sause but by the time the bread came they took our mussels soup
Really disappointed I think Jonathan is spending to much time at his fancy new restaurant
Food and service was excellent.
Appetizers and steaks were really good along with attentive service. Only slight complaints were no bread is served and the steaks were just slightly overcooked.
Waitress told us 4 people serving our table...reality 1-2 very seldom and 20% added for party of 6.
Service has no incentive when 6 or more. Will not go back to this location. Food very good. Service has dropped significantly
Went to dinner with co-worker from London and had a really good dinner along with great conversation.
After our experience last week at another restaurant in the area, this was way better. Enjoyed the quiet and not being cheek to jowl with our fellow eaters. Thought the corkage fee for bringing your own bottle was a bit stiff. Otherwise, all OK.
Small restaurant, local place.
Gaylord location. First time eaten Burger there. Prior visit couple years ago for hubby's bday dinner where our guests got switched steaks and all overdone and no resolve when mentioned. Likely won't return as nothing eaten there really makes us want to return. Maybe the Memorial Drive location better. Have friends who enjoy.
Wait staff was a little slow.
Incredible Service !!!
Thank you Ben for taking care of us.
Jonathan’s is where fine food and comfort come together in inventive ways. Chef makes the most of our local bounty. Starter salad was delicious with homemade Greek dressing. I ordered the snapper with jalapeño cilantro cream sauce. The sauce was creamy but not spicy at all, and only had one lonely leaf of cilantro. The high quality 1/2-fish filet was beautiful, thick, bone-free and crispy on the outside. Presented with tail on! My husband’s filet was good and his mac n cheese was very cheesy and light on the bacon. Overall, delicious. Paired with generous wine pours and patient, friendly service, our meal was excellent.
yes the atmosphere is casual but the quality of the meat is outstanding A great place to enjoy a high end meal in a moderate environment.
Loved all the food. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back.
I like most dishes I eat at Johathan's but always feel they could lighten dishes up a bit. They seem a little heavy on the oils and fats. I would feel a bit "lighter and healthier" if they were able to accomplish this. Jmo.
