We got our table pretty quickly. They had a small birthday card on the table which was very nice. Whenever our food was coming to the table, for some reason, it would be taken to the table next to us first. This happened twice. There was no offer of a birthday dessert. That was disappointing. Food overall was very good.

I had my parents visiting from NorCal and was looking for a spot around Newport that had both a great dining experience and a beautiful ambiance. After checking out a ton of reviews and photos, Joey immediately caught my eye. Even though I had some high expectations going in, I kept an open mind — and I’m so glad I did. From the moment we arrived, the experience started strong. We were greeted with complimentary bubbly, and I was immediately impressed by the gorgeous interior design. After we got seated, Chasta came by, gave us a great intro to Joey, and made sure our dining experience felt above and beyond all night. She was incredible — so helpful and attentive. We tried a few of her recommendations: Wagyu Beef Carpaccio, Hummus, Lobster Spaghetti, and Wagyu Ravioli. Honestly, not a single dish disappointed. Here’s a quick breakdown: •Wagyu Beef Carpaccio: Thinly sliced, super fresh, and paired perfectly with toppings that brought out the flavors. •Hummus: I usually don’t like hummus, but this completely changed my mind. I found out their executive chef created this recipe at this location before it got shared across other Joeys — you can tell it’s something special. •Lobster Spaghetti: The sauce and fresh ingredients were spot-on. Every bite was rich but well-balanced. •Wagyu Ravioli: Hands down, the best I’ve had in Newport. Perfectly filled, tender pasta, and flavors I’m still craving as I write this. We also saved room for dessert and tried the famous Apple Pie and Crème Brûlée Cheesecake. •Apple Pie: Everything from the flaky crust to the fresh apples and the pure, creamy ice cream was amazing. No wonder everyone talks about it. •Crème Brûlée Cheesecake: Light, fluffy, and rich at the same time — like the best of both desserts combined. You really wonder how a spot with such lively energy and ambiance can also deliver such high-level food. Big shoutout to Chasta again — your warmth, attentiveness, and ability to make diners feel at home made t

Felt ignored the whole time by the wait staff as if we were imposing on them. There for two hours was offered a refill on my drink once.

Great food, staff, and atmosphere! Definitely recommend reservations as the wait can get long, and the lettuce chick wrap appetizers are a must!

Service and ambiance is great. Food was a bit too creamy (Ravioli and cheeseburger both).

A group of us took a colleague out to celebrate a major professional accomplishment yesterday, and she selected Joey for the celebration. We were all excited to try it and ended our workdays a little early to make happy hour at 4:30. We had a reservation and were seated in the patio area, which had a great ambience. A server came over pretty quickly, which seemed to indicate that we'd have attentive service--boy were we wrong! After our server greeted us and offered us water she disappeared. 15 or so minutes later, with 5 minutes left for happy hour, I flagged down another server who happened to be walking by. He tried to tell our group of five that he would take a partial order to get it into the system before happy hour ended (without asking what our full order was), after we had been seated at this point for about 25 minutes. We managed to convince him (yes, it felt like convincing) to take a full order and our food came out shortly after that. While we were dining, another server, different from the first two, came check on our table. While eating, yet another server tried to take my plate--as I was eating off of it. Eventually, someone brought our friend a gratis celebratory dessert and a female server who had visited our table twice (at this point we'd lost count, I think she was server number 5) presented us with a single check (a bit awkward given that we'd intended to separate the bill--a friend used a tab splitter after we left the restaurant to calculate our individual responsibilities and collect reimbursement, which seems to me to fall squarely under the job responsibility of a server, and not a guest). This was a truly bizarre experience dining out in Orange County and one of the worst I've ever had! The food was great and so was the ambience, but it's never a good feeling to be out on a special occasion and made to feel by restaurant staff that your party is a burden, less important than other tables, or being passed around among servers.
