    We had a great experience. Went out with some coworkers, we were celebrating 3 birthdays. Our server treated us with shareable brownies.

    A server named Julia was unprofessional when it came to being able to accommodate gastritis needs, got the order wrong 3 times, and had a bad unhelpful attitude while rolling her eyes as well. Very bad experience considering this is a health issue.

    The food was good as usual, service was a bit slower than normal. Probably the Saturday effect. The restaurant was very hot yesterday affecting the normal amazing ambience of Joey king street. In summary it was good but I have had better experiences in Joeys street.

    We got a gift card for Christmas and finally made it out to Joey! Having walked by and waited for the streetcar just outside the new King Street location, we were blown away by how spacious the restaurant is. There are a bunch of different seating options including a patio, and the open kitchen is also kinda neat to see. I was offered a small, complimentary flute of sparking wine on arrival, which was nice to sip on while waiting for my husband to arrive. I also enjoyed a happy hour sangria — there was a decent selection of discounted drinks, apps and food available from 4-6pm daily (if I am recalling correctly). Hubby got a beer. I ordered the steak and ravioli bianco (very yum) and hubby got the roasted cod with the Thai peanut curry sauce (also very um). We also thoroughly enjoyed the crème brûlée cheese cake — the pineapple, mango, passion fruit and coconut made it taste light and refreshing. Our bill came to $120.63. Unfortunately the $20 promo gift card that we were gifted along side the $100 gift card had expired in March, we didn’t realize was a risk. Based on our first impression and pleasant experience, we would definitely consider returning :)

    Review Title: A Memorable Meal Undermined by a Disappointing First Impression The food was genuinely enjoyable, and the wait staff were professional, warm, and attentive throughout our meal. They made the dining experience pleasant and welcoming. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the host and her assistant who greeted us upon arrival. After confirming my reservation, there was confusion when it came time to be seated—our name was mistaken for someone else’s. While mistakes happen, what stood out was the lack of a simple apology and the unnecessarily curt attitude that followed. It left us feeling more dismissed than welcomed. Given that the host is the first point of contact for any guest, their demeanor sets the tone for the entire visit. In this case, it cast a shadow over what was otherwise an excellent evening. I sincerely hope this was not personal, but it did make us question whether there was more behind the attitude than mere disorganization. To management: I urge you to ensure that your front-of-house team reflects the same standard of professionalism and courtesy that your kitchen and servers clearly strive for. A small shift in hospitality at the door can make a world of difference—and avoid making guests feel othered or unwelcome.
