hospitality roots date back to 1925, or so the story goes. Jocko’s is legendary for hand cut aged
steaks grilled over an open fire of red oak coals. A style of cooking native to the area that dates
to the Spanish Rancheros. We offer an extensive dinner menu serving a variety of steak cuts,
ribs, pork chops, chicken, seafood, steak burgers, specialty sandwiches and more. Our Saloon includes a full compliment of your favorite spirits, tap beers and a large selection of Central Coast wines.

I haven’t been since this flu outbreak , but enough, we have to live our lives. No mask in dining room, thank god, but i do object to the servers wearing them. Such nonsense. Our meal was awesome, cooked to perfection, we were seated on time of our reservation. Love to see locals, laughter and smiles.
We had a great time celebrating a birthday. The staff was great and the food, as always was, was outstanding!!!
Best steaks ever!!
Do not miss it if you are in the area.
Very comfortable and good food with great service.
It was a great birthday!
If you love a delicious steak dinner, great service, a full bar and casual ambiance, this is the place for you!!
Booked a short notice lunch reservation to celebrate my birthday. We’re locals but It had been at least 10 years since our last visit to Jocko’s. I ordered the Spencer Ribeye with a Lobster side and my wife the Wild Salmon. They obviously did not change much throughout the many years they’ve been in business and that’s a good thing! The simple Relish Tray and fresh Salad along with the Pinquito Beans, Garlic Bread, Salsa, and Ice Cream afterwards were still as I remembered. It took awhile for the barbecue to arrive but well worth the wait. My medium rare steak from the red oak pit was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The lobster was so tender and sweet. The Hostess and Waitress were both nice and attentive. Great decision to dine here and we both enjoyed our meal.
Evidently, they hired a young girl to help the very busy waitress and the first thing she said was do you want one of those trays like she didn't know what it was called. Why ask, doesn't it come with the meal?
The noise level was so loud, it was like eating in a cafeteria. The table the waitress gave us, said that was all they have right now. huh?!
Had to send our steak back as it was very rare. by the time it came back, we were done with dinner.
For the price, it wasn't worth it. Very disappointed! Will not be going back.
Changed reservations from 4 to 6 on a Thursday which required us to move to a wait list. Initially made me a little nervous on wait times but walla tight in at our time
Wonderful food. Excellent service from Juan. Have been dining at Jocko's since early 1970s. Have moved, but still stop for a meal when back spending time at Pismo.
Not fancy, but fabulous steaks!!
We love Jockos. Try to go every time we are at the coast.
We were seated promptly, waitress was very friendly and our food was served without undue waiting. The food was absolutely delicious - hot and tasty! It's kind of an old school 60's steakhouse/bar decor [and super clean], but that's okay, we came to eat, not admire the fixtures. Value was excellent. We will def be back!
Was my husbands 70th Birthday but she’d didn’t bother do anything
Had a wonderful Birthday anyway food was great she was playing bartender too the other guy was better we took table at the bar so we can watch dodger game while we ate
Little noisy but we new it was going to be hope she appreciated the good tip took my left overs to eat the next day overall I love this place I had the Spenser steak medium cooked to perfection husband had the filet
decided to try the chicken fried steak daily special, in the past have always ordered the pork roast for several years, but now have taken it off the menu, so back to the chicken fried steak, way too salty, also now with the daily special, do not come with the same side dishes as all the previous daily specials. i guess we will stick to the pork chops or steaks in the future
Both my husband and I felt that it was well below par. We have been coming to Jacko's for over 40 years and this is the first disappointment.
We were a party of 9 and were split into two tables. First table got their food promptly, finished eating and all the while we still waited for our food. We waiting at least an hour before receiving our food. I asked waitress what was taking so long and she said she didn’t know. She never apologized and didn’t offer a discount or any other type of resolution. The food was delicious and would be the only reason I would consider returning.
The steak dinner was highly recommended by a friend. It was outstanding and had a great flavor. Unlike the high-end steak restaurants, the dinner came with appetizers, sides and a dessert. It was our first time there and Sylvia was our server. She was very pleasant and we will definitely be coming back.
Has been a family favorite from the time it was established. One of best local steakhouses on the central coast and probably the least expensive overall.
The steaks were perfectly cooked to order, the service was excellent, the wait time was zero. I think OpenTable really upped the game for reservations at Jockos.Reservations for Jockos in the past were a nightmare so glad they have a better system now
Too many people at a time. Very loud. Hard to hear people at your table. Food was good, just slow coming.
Out of the way in Nipomo but people come from far & wide for the excellent bbq. Looks pricey for a college dining hall ambience in a cinder block building but you’re coming for the steak! You get crackers & salsa, relish tray, salad w housemade dressings, garlic toast, potatoes (we had loaded baked), cowboy style pinto beans AND ice cream for desert. Big birthday dinner for my sweetie who ordered med sz ribeye and I had 10 oz filet, perfectly cooked med rare and med. Now here’s the amazing service part: we were having a great first visit & didn’t notice until about 45 minutes after ordering that folks arrived after us got entrees before us. Our server apologized profusely as one of her new coworkers served our steaks to the wrong table and said she would discount our dinners. Let’s just say the manager did far more than that and we paid for drinks and 146% tip on perky, excellent service.😉We shall be repeat customers whenever we’re driving through Pismo! Make reservations or be prepared to wait a long time for this steakhouse casual gem!
Overall a good experience, bartender has a lot to learn..
Just what o was looking for. It has been several years but just what I remembered.
Once seated, it took 15 minutes for a server to come to us, so we ordered everything while we had a chance. I ordered grilled artichoke, then asked, when she was at a nearby table, for it to be brought before my meal. She then told me they were out of artichoke, but didn't ask if there was something else that I would want. We didn't see our server but to take order, drop off food, and bring the bill. It was very busy, so maybe they need more servers? One of the people in our party just ordered the loaded baked potato. It came 10 minutes after our steak meals and the outside of it was inedible because it was so hard. Our reservation was at 7:15 and we did not leave there until 9:10.
Worth the wait. Great food and great service! I love that you can now make reservations on line.
Food was delicious, service was upbeat and friendly. Great experience.
Everything was perfect.
Took out of town friends here at their request. I warned them the ambiance is very small town, ordinary, etc. but that the food was awesome. We were not disappointed. We had three steaks that were huge and cooked to perfection; I don’t know how they do that over an open oak pit flame! The sides of French fries and a loaded baked potato were excellent as was the dinner salad. I enjoyed the beans which are very unique. Wonderful buttery garlic Parmesan toast. We were too stuffed to have the included ice cream. The waiter recommended a great bottle of Grenache that was very good and went perfectly with the meat. This place is so non-descript looking but NEVER disappoints on the food. I think this might be the best service I’ve ever had there too; very friendly and knowledgeable.
Huge steak. Very good. Baked potato so so. Salad decent.
The food is incredible! The top sirloin steak melts in your mouth, the garlic bread is transcendent, the beans are flavorful. You get a lot of food, so come hungry!
Casual atmosphere, delicious food, wonderful service!
Every time we come to the Pismo area we MUST stop at Jokos!! This place has never let us down in the food, service and price for the food we get. We keep ordering the 20 oz. Felit amd 10 oz Felit. We don’t learn, WE CAN NEVER FINISH THEM!!!
As usual, we expected a perfect dinner and evening. We were seated right on our reservation time. This was surprising because we were used to a little wait. However, we were seated at the end of a table that included a group of 32 very raucous loud people who we assume were celebrating something. They were yelling back and forth to another table with the other members of the same party. We couldn’t even carry on a conversation between us. I kept wishing they had put us in the other room. Luckily, they were served before us and ultimately finished before us. This went on for over an hour! Two of us ordered the filet; mine was more well done than I like. Usually, it’s perfect I might add. I blame this on the fact that the cook was overwhelmed by the 32 member order. Hopefully, it will be cooked perfectly next time and we’ll be seated at a more comfortable table.
I do appreciate the convenience of reserving with Open Table. It’s my first time and I’ll definitely do it again.
Inexpensive steak house crowed seating family orientation
We were delighted with everything at Jocko's. With our reservation, we were promptly seated, and our server, Danny, provided great service with charming personality. My spencer steak and husband's ribs had great flavor, and we appreciated that the ribs did not come smothered in sauce. The baked potatoes were cooked perfectly and wonderfully drowned in sour cream and butter.
Food better than ever. Hans, our server was fantastic.
Anniversary 3rd year and it was special.
Ate at 5pm they said they were out of the Special already
Spencer Steak was very disappointing. It was roughly 50% fat which was inedible.
