The jewel of the Golden Isles, Jekyll Island, was the inspiration for the Jekyll Island Seafood Company – created to engage, to inspire, and to provide enjoyment as you gather with friends and family. We first opened Jekyll Island Seafood Company in Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport in October 2012. Our mission then was to “share Jekyll Island with the world”. Now as a part of Jekyll Island’s Beach Village, we continue to unlock the hidden treasure of this Golden Isle in every dish, using local fare and classic preparations to showcase the delicate flavor of the coast.
The casual, cool elegance of this restaurant & bar reflects both the history & charm of Jekyll Island. Diners can view the island’s undisturbed beauty of sand dunes and sense the ocean breeze as a backdrop to every meal
It was a nice atmosphere with good entertainment although they ended too early. The food was very good and the environment outside was nice
Food is uninspiring. We ate here two nights in a row based on the restaurants proximity to our hotel. The positive is that the outdoor tables are really nice and service was attentive and quick. The kids menu and food is good. The rest of the food is disappointing. Ordered fish tacos and the fish portion was tiny, and didn’t appear fresh. We also ordered salad with salmon and we believe the salmon was a frozen slice of salmon. Waitress didn’t write down our order and then forgot that we order an appetizer. We would not go back.
Very Good restaurant and service. The Shrimp and Grits were excellent. The crab and corn chowder was not as desirable. Would visit again when back in the area.
I was not impressed by the food or the service. I don’t think it was much of a seafood place. Menu looked like mostly southern.
Food was very good. From seafood to burgers! Cool ambience.
Service was poor. Hostess couldn’t hide annoyance when we asked that our outside reservation be moved indoors. Waitress unknowledgeable of the menu, didn’t know beers, said mud pie dessert was chocolate when it was coffee, etc. No bartender on a Friday night.
If the restaurant can hire better staff then this is a fantastic experience!
Great food and good service! Peach cobbler is outstanding!
I will come back for the fried chicken and Mac and cheese.
Wasn't busy, but we had reservations. Pretty place overlooking the sand. Nice outside deck. Food was excellent. Staff very friendly and attentive. Has a bar.
We had a large party and they handled us very well. Good food and service!
Uninspired mediocre cuisine.
No reason to return. Shrimp and grits was bland and boring. Side salad came out with main course . Pleasant servers.
Was pretty disappointed overall. The food was just barely OK, but the location was great and the view nice. The service was very attentive.
Nice location next to the Westin; Food very uninspired, and high priced for the quality. Good with kids as you are on the beach front square...but too many better locations. Also part of a group of retaurants. Servers not invested in their job and it was obvious
Food good. Service fair. Server attentive but appetizers, soups and salads all served at same time. Crab and corn chowder excellent.
I saw online this resto was dog friendly (which is great!) so we brought our two Yorkies. I called just to make sure and was told yes - outdoor dining only (which is the norm on island). We showed up and were told we had to eat out front along the restaurant windows vs in the back on the outdoor patio. They have a few small tables out front - all were dirty and surrounded by cobwebs at the base. Not terribly appetizing but ok. We ordered starters of peel and eat shrimp plus the crab dip...service was super slow (it was July 4th and busy so we totally get it). Server comes out after a while and says they were sold out of crab (and one entree too). We then got the calamari basket which was good. Ended up calling it a day after that. Did use the restroom and ended up inside the resto which was busy. I’m sure they were doing the best they could considering the holiday. Overall this seems like a good place for families but I wouldn’t rush back myself. It would be helpful if their dog policy was more clear upfront!
Place looks cool but the service was terrible the waiters were rude and the food was not that great-was a let down, don’t go! Don’t think they will make it unless they make some major changes
We appreciated a sidewalk table where we could dine with our dog. The crispy flounder was good with a nice apricot sauce. The sides needed more seasoning. The service was fair at best. It seems all restaurants on Jekyll are short staffed.
The food at Jekyll Island Seafood Co was excellent! Our waitress was very going. She had suggestions as well as attention to everything we needed for dinner. All staff was friendly. I will be back next time we come to Jekyll Island.
My husband and I had dinner here during our Jekyll vacation. We were disappointed in the service from the hostess to the waitress and food servers. Care and attention were lacking at all points. The food was okay. We will not go back.
The food is generally solid, but what impressed me was the service - incredibly buttoned-up. Far better than we have typically seen on Jekyll. Attentive, prompt, respectful - first rate. The sauce on the scored flounder is a little too sweet for my tastes. The one standout was the Key Lime Pie - wonderful, the best I have had in years. Sit outside and enjoy the view of the dunes. I would definitely come back.
Food was good, but not excellent. Based on the pricing I expected a little higher quality. The green tomato appetizer was great and they made a lunch item available at dinner for 2 of my daughters. The service was spot on. The outdoor tables were a little rickety. Might want to invest in heavier tables. Wish we could have seen the ocean, but the dunes were too tall. Very clean and the staff was excellent! Location was 8 out of 10. We will go back on our next trip.
My husband, friend, and I dined at Jekyll Seafood on Sunday night. We made a reservation through Open Table. So glad that we did because when we arrived they told us it would be a thirty minute wait though it was not crowded at all. When I told the man we had reservations his whole demeanor changed and he sitted us in just a few minutes. We all had the grouper Florentine and it was quite tasty. It was served very quickly. We sat inside because of the heat but I would like to try outdoor dining in the fall.
Crab cake appetizer was great -- two very tasty, large portions.
Buffalo shrimp in Captain's Basket entree tasted like deep fried shrimp soaked in Frank's Buffalo Wing Sauce -- OK, but nothing special. French fries were OK, but could have done without the cheese sprinkled on them.
Grits in Sweet Georgia Shrimp and Grits entree were sticky and thick; creamy and smooth were expected and preferred. Tasted good, however.
Service was great; staff, very friendly and accommodating.
We had wedding rehearsal dinner here and had more than our reservation was for but the staff never missed a beat. There was no problem adding seats. The ladies joked and went on with the pranksters in our group as if they had known us all our lives. We enjoyed our visit. Everyone loved the food and experience.
Food was good, but not great. It is a new property, very clean. Service was excellent and prices reasonable.
We went here for a late night dinner when most other places were closing up, the staff was very friendly and the food was very good, not gourmet, but it hit the spot. The sweet potato fries were great!
Great food and service. Server was quick to the table and her suggestive selling (deserts ) worked well. Very satisfying experience. Highly recommended !
Food was mediocre. The sweet potato chips were burnt so we got mac and cheese instead and it was very good. For the price I do not believe it was worth it.
The service was awful. We came in and picked out appetizers only to be told we had the wrong menu and we couldn’t order from the ones we had been looking at. They didn’t give us crayons with the kids menu, and then we had to go to the hostess to ask for them. We try to order chicken and waffles for one of our guest & the chef says he can’t make waffles. Like it’s an item on your menu???? And he wouldn’t substitute anything. So we get one of the apps fried green tomatoes and they forget the sauce. For the meal they forget fries for one persons meal and have to hunt high and low for hot sauce. The chowder which looks soooo good on the menu has the biggest chunks of potatoes ever. We just weren’t impressed. When we walked in literally no one else was there and maybe that should’ve been a sign.
One of the better food options on Jekyll. The patio is perfect for looking at the dunes and getting the sea air.
Visited at the end of May for a work conference with my wife. We made a reservation the day before, and asked for outdoor seating in Open Table.
When we showed up, the hostess didn’t even check but said she wasn’t sure she could seat us outside. There were several tables available as we had just passed by the outdoor seats on our way in. Of note, one other couple with two children was waiting. They had showed up before us but did not have a reservation.
The hostess must have been new because it took another seemingly more experienced hostess to honor our reservation.
The staff appeared short-handed, maybe because it is an island restaurant before June? Not sure. We saw several different servers.
My wife ordered 1/2 lb of snow crab. She said it was dry and terrible. It came with a half-size corn on the cob and 2 new potatoes which she did not touch.
I ordered grouper with spinach and the same potatoes. Grouper was ok, but a tad over cooked. The spinach was ok, but the potatoes were not fully cooked. Not too bad but not great.
I searched TripAdvisor, Yelp, and OpenTable for recent reviews and maybe it is just a seasonal thing but I wouldn’t come here again.
Great food and service! Menu is different, trendy but inviting. You can tell that real chefs developed menu and cook too!
Awesome Service....waitress was great....food was awesome....enjoyed our visit with family while dining in your establishment...Hubby has been in the restaurant business all of his life....owned his own when younger...So he knows his stuff ...he gave your restaurant a 👍 up....so a job well DONE! HE IS THE FAMILY CRITIC FOR SURE! 😊
Hostess was unfriendly and slow, problem with AC, building as both doors were very hard to open and banged shut each time someone went in or out. Waiter was entertaining, but slow taking order, bringing food and bringing tab. Food-fair-medium well hamburger was dry and tasteless, order wrong on the parmesan fries, seafood pasta bland, shrimp and grits ok. Would not recommend with so many other choices on Jekyll.
We went because we were looking for good seafood and their name lead us to believe we could find it there, but the food was only ok and not worth going for.
The food was better than the service and ambiance. The wings though different were very good. We really enjoyed the gumbo, jambalaya and the grouper.
The servers seemed very stressed not sure if they were understaffed or new. Noticed that in addition to ourselves a couple of other tables received apps and entrees at the same time
Food was cold but otherwise tasted good. Service was incredibly slow and somewhat unfriendly. Wouldn’t go back or recommend.
We were visiting the area and taking our hosts out for dinner..................I made this reservation with your website....the food was excellent and a very good value...............that sad to say is the only positive in the experience..............................we were told that they were very busy because of Easter week/spring break.
Our first waitress shared that it was her third night...........she got overwhelmed with my husband's drink order..he went and spoke to bartender.................after a VERY long wait a woman who appeared to be perhaps in her 40's took our order....................here again a VERY long wait until some food came..........................all at ONCE................food was excellent...then we were asked to push our table down so that the server could get to the table behind us easier. When we ordered coffee we had to ask to have cream with it..............Overall we all feel that everyone there tried their BEST but sad to say their BEST was NOT good. Our hosts had dined there before with a very positive experience.
The food and service were very good but they were short staffed and the kitchen was backed up. Many tables available and customers were being turned away due to short staff issues. The owners/manager need to get organized!!!
Restaurant was busy but the staff was accommodating. We had to ask who our waitress was. We had been there about 10 min. and she had not been to our table. For the remainder of the meal she was very attentive. The food was very good and the portions were ample. We will definitely put The Wharf on our list for the next visit.
Impromptu road trip to Jekyll Island for the weekend landed us here for a quick lunch upon arrival. It has a great view but the service was EXTREMELY slow. It took about 20 minutes to get a glass of wine and there were literally about 6 people sitting at the bar.....drinks in hand. The food service was also slow and the food was not good at all. I don't see me every going back there to eat.
