   Amazing authentic food, top notch service, and busy for a reason. This is the best Japanese restaurant on the Central Coast. My friend who lived in Japan, said it was the best Japanese he has had stateside ever since Atari-ya in Santa Maria changed hands and went downhill. If you love Japanese food please give it a try, you will not be disappointed!

   Best sushi restaurant in San Luis Obispo. Sushi quality is exceptional, but the menu is diverse, and I've always been pleasantly surprised by the quality of non-sushi fare also. For example, I've recently started ordering their larger salads, which are quite beautiful, healthy, and delicious. My friend raves about the Albacore tataki, which he thinks is among the best he's had throughout California. Service is friendly. Lunch prices are one of the best deals in town, especially for the Chirashi lunch special. Can get crowded for lunch or dinner, so best to make a reservation or expect to wait up to 30 min at lunch and 60 min at dinner.

   We were seated very promptly once we checked in for our reservation. Our server was attentive and helpful! We enjoyed our meal very much. The quality of the food was incredible! All of our food arrived quickly and we were left with happy, full bellies. Looking forward to returning next time we are in town!

   Many innovative dishes/sushis. Made special request for a favorite preparation that was perfectly crafted by the sushi chef. It’s very popular so can be difficult to get in but I made reservations and waltzed right in!

    Goshi is an incredible restaurant and the most authentic Japanese on the Central Coast. We drive a half-hour to eat here and it is very much worth it. The food is beyond amazing, the service is fantastic. The quality and variety of fish in different dishes clearly shows the talent of the chefs. The difficult part of the restaurant is how popular it is. Either get a reservation or expect to get there at least a half hour before it opens to write yourself down on the list. So very much worth it though. It is my favorite restaurant on the coast and I recommend it 100% to anyone who loves Japanese food, especially authentic Japanese.

    Not a great experience this time. The service was great but the food was just so so. Being charged for eel sauce when you are spending $100 on dinner… hmmm We were sat at a tiny 2 top smack in the middle of the restaurant which felt like we were on display. The restaurant looks dirty and VERY outdated and in need of a face lift.

    I’m literally sitting in the parking lot outside of the restaurant still so upset and angry over what happened. The staff at this restaurant is incredibly homophobic and transphobic. My partner and I dined here for my birthday. We sat next to each other shared some kisses throughout. When the brought us the check, the server had the audacity to tell us to cut back on the PDA. I couldn’t even believe what I was hearing. He tried to say that customers were complaining but that’s not even the case because there was only one other couple next to us. He said that PDA in public is frowned upon and we shouldn’t be doing that. I told him that that is not true nobody frowns on PDA here and told him that we would never be returning. Absolutely ridiculous. I have never been treated like this ever in any place that I have dined at. To think that someone could really feel the need to say that to a customer is beyond me. This honestly felt so targeted because my partner is trans. So I’m guessing that the staff was uncomfortable and then decided to tell us something just because of this.

    The food was mediocre. They definitely need more wait staff. Our waitress was having a hard time keeping up with taking orders, delivering good and checking back.

    The amount of pride and care Goshi takes in every aspect of quality is rare. Most high-end restaurants value superficial ambience and presentation, while serving underwhelming food. It's crystal clear Goshi values the perfection of taste and quality over shallow values. For example, not even the mundane things like side salads are exempt. They only use the deep green lettuce parts, never the yellow or white parts. On the high side, their omakase nigiri is an indescribable quantum leap above anything else I have ever found outside of Japan. And bewilderingly, their prices are two-thirds to half of fair value. If you're looking for "dragon roll," find a fake Chinese-owned Japanese restaurant.

    We came to celebrate my husband's retirement with a special lunch. The food was excellent! We enjoyed a variety of chef's special fish. The chef showed us many interesting ingredients and explained what they were. Our waiter was terrific and as friendly as he was when he waited on us during our first visit a month ago. However, when we were leaving, the host ridiculed me for insulting the chef. The chef never gave any indication of insult. This reduced the enjoyment of what was supposed to be a special lunch visit.
