Very authentic Spanish Tapas. The food is excellent and it is lovely to see reasonable portion sizes allowing the diner to try various dishes. The place is noisy...hard to have a conversation
Very reasonably priced.
We loved everything about Jaleo - the fantastic food, the excellent service, and the lively atmosphere. We also loved the idea of supporting amazing humanitarian Jose Andres.
Every dishwasher better than the next. Can’t wait to go back!
Lunch at Jaleo is one of the best value and enjoyable lunches to be had in Penn Quarter. Soup and sandwich for $10, with great service and charming surroundings.
I came with my wife after long time ago. We wanted to have just some appetizers. Food is good in general, some dishes better than others. Sangria is OK in flavor but we liked the decoration of the glasses.
In general a good experience to come back again and try other dishes.
Great menu along with terrific service and fantastic food!
The gambas (garlic shrimp) has been changed and is now salt and olive oil, though still described on their menu as the very, very famous shrimp (definitely not what this dish used to be). It was taken off of our bill after we complained, but still points to Jaleo apparently “Americanizing their menu....what a shame
La comida está buena, pero el sitio se le ve antiguo
Kim was lovely!
Octopus fritters were gross.
Skirt steak was more like steak tartare
We ordered a carafe of sangria- it is very light, not particularly juicy and no hint of marinated fruit. Much better off getting a bottle of wine for $43
The food was good, service was good but it was just very loud and hard to joy my friends and their conversation
Jaleo like a fine wine keeps getting better with age. Exquisite, creative, quality tapas and sensational desserts. Compliments to the Chef who continuously exceeds expectations and the wonderful staff most notably Sandra at the bar.
Wonderful lunch special and the tapas were phenominal
Whenever my husband and I get a chance to go out for a nice dinner (no easy feat with 2 boys under 5yr), Jaleo is always the first choice. Sangria, bacon wrapped dates and papas bravas-every.single.time. I have 2 minor complaints-first, the tables are small for a bunch of tapas plates. Second, the floor in the bathroom-it's off putting to say the least. Neither of these points will ever stop me from coming here because it is such a phenomenal place.
Loved the food and menu
Disappointed to arrive and booked table not ready and suggestion I eat at the icy cold ACd bar, indicating as a solo diner that may be more appropriate
Also had to settle bar ran rather than a single check
Otherwise great atmosphere, good food and no rushed service which is always the risk on a Saturday night
great spot for quick meal before Cap Center games whether weekend or weekday
So fabulous! Our party of 7 had the best time - great food, great service, super fun to share all those delicious dishes. Highly recommend!
Never have been disappointed. Menu and wine selections are fantastic.
I appreciate that the staff accommodated my Mom's dining requests.
The food was amazing! We did the tasting brunch menu and don’t regret it! Top notch restaurant
Perfectly tender octopus. Excellent flan.
Great food, great service. Never disappoints!
Outstanding tapas before the Nats Widcard game. Knowledgeable recommendations from staff. Will go again.
This place is so comfortable! It was our Anniversary and we love the food, the lighting was great and the set up. The salad which contained walnuts, goat cheese and apples was the Best, I ordered one to go.
We tried dishes that we weren't familiar with. Some dishes were not as exciting. The specials were amazing. Gin and Tonic special was delicious.
We came with a party of 8 for Brunch on Sunday 29 Sep. The receptionist was welcoming and our table was ready on arrival. The waitress was very friendly. The selection of Tapas we had was really nice and everybody enjoyed it. Unfortunately we were served a very watery espresso that looked like dishwashing water. The paella was pre- portioned and the whole pan was not first presented to us.
The food delivery person was confused to serve what dish to whom....no proper preparation.
Overall a great place for tapas but a bit more polished service and attention for detail would not harm.
Best food we had in DC. Must try the ibérico pork cured ham!
In addition to having an amazing atmosphere and absolutely amazing food, they are great about accommodating to allergies. I am celiac and was able to have a fantastic gluten-free meal. My favorite was a canary island-style rabbit with an apricot sause.
Great place for a larger party. Reasonably priced food and drink.
Since we had never eaten at the restaurant, we opted for the Tasting Menu (mid-priced option at $70). It was a tremendous value for the amount of food, and included 2-3 items from every part of the full tapas menu. Some of our favorites were the fresh figs, the mussels, and the chorizo, but there was not a single dish that failed to deliver in flavor. The two desserts were really good; the sorbet was light and refreshing and the flan was one of the best I have had in a restaurant.
We are not in DC often, but will definitely visit this location and other Jaleo restaurants around the country. We did not get to try the paella on the tasting menu, but the smell and plating at tables around us will draw us back to try it.
Food was great. The menu was large, so we could have used more guidance from waitress on how to sequence the meal.
Excellent recipes, very fresh high quality ingredients. It just doesn't get any better.
Wow. This is our 2nd Jose Andres restaurant experience. We went with a group of friends from out of town and they couldn't stop raving about our choice. Cocktails were inventive and crafted with a deft hand. The food was beautifully presented, and tasted even better!
Jose Andres is a genius and Jaleo is no exception! A variety of delicious tapas to choose from! We loved it!
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Jaleo, the food, and especially the service, was wonderful!
We were a few minutes late, and received an email from open table asking why we were a no show, which is not true. If needed I will gladly forward a copy of our receipt that night, I do not want a ding on my account as we always call ahead if we cannot attend. Thank you.
Out of town wit my significant other
We had a great date night at Jaleo! This was our second time here and both times it did not disappoint. My boyfriend is from Spain and feels like this is a great representation of his country’s culture and food. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for great Spanish tapas/wine!
Brunch was a nice change of pace from the more energetic and rushed dinner service I've experienced here. I met an old friend for a meal, and we were able to order slowly and enjoy our meal, catching up for the last 15 years. I appreciated the opportunity to linger without feeling awkward, and we enjoyed every bite. Great service, great food, and a lovely way to start the day/end the weekend.
Been there many times in the past. This one has been the weakest. Food presentation and quality has been much better before. Server was friendly and attentive.
Delicious food in a lively but relaxed atmosphere. Chef José Andrés has my support both for his talents and for his work as a humanitarian. I was just visiting DC but I definitely hope to be back!
Jaleo is one of our favorite restaurants in DC and this visit reaffirmed why that is. The food was delicious, the service was fantastic, and for as much food that we ate and drinks that we consumed we were surprised that our bill wasn't higher than it was. We are looking forward to going back.
