Let me start by saying that my mother is from Spain and an excellent cook. We also visit Spain often… all that to say, I can be very particular about my Spanish food. Jaleo did not disappoint! We ordered the gazpacho, croquetas de pollo, ensaladilla Rusa, gambas al ajillo, and patatas bravas. My daughter, who wrote her college application essay about how much she loved croquetas de pollo, promptly declared them winners. The gazpacho was excellent. It was finished with good olive oil and came with a few picos (small hard breadsticks that are so much more than that..) The ensaladilla was on point - we should have ordered two. The only meh tapa were the patatas bravas, none of us thought they had enough salsa brava. Overall, the food was excellent. We were in DC for a short visit, had we been there longer we would have eaten there again.

I would go for the pan con tomate alone, but everything was outstanding, including the spicy margarita!

Really fun tasting menu experience at Jaleo. The restaurant was loud, so hard to have conversations without feeling like we were yelling and tables were right on top of one another. The food and service were both excellent.

This was our first time at Jaleo so we decided to do one of the tasting menus in order to get a good representation of what they offer. It was absolutely delicious! All of the chefs' choices were excellent and some were incredible. The service was excellent. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about all of the dishes. The other staff members were also attentive in bringing water and clearing plates right when needed. We will definitely be back.

The Croquetas Cremosas de Jamon Iberico did not taste of ham plus they were a creamy mess. The Patatas Bravas potatoes were properly cook but the huge globs of aioli were not necessary. The Sangria Rjoa 1.2 pitcher for $38 was okay but pricey and the only fruit were a couple orange slices.
