I had quite a nice meal. It’s possible my expectations were too high, but I did enjoy it, ate well and have no complaints.
Sunday dinner at Jaleo’s DC location. A cool breeze kept us on the edge of our outdoors chairs. Server was indifferent, mansplaining how there was two wines, red and white. Food was good but a little late in coming. Maybe next time will live up to rep?
Took my family here to expose them to food that I love to make and eat. We had a very wonderful evening. Food was delicious and our waitress was outstanding. Had some Liqor 43 and the tasting menu for dinner. The cheese stuffed pimentos was outstanding and the chicken was extremely tender. My family enjoyed each dish and the cheesecake for dessert was to die for. Thank you for a wonderful evening!!!
Food was delicious. We did the Jaleo Classic tasting menu and it was so good! Was not overly full by the end but that could probably have been accomplished if we were drinking with the meal. It was a really nice time!
Our third visit and first in 2 years did not disappoint. Food was delicious, service attentive and felt safe with covid precautions. Not only did we enjoy our meal but it was wonderful to watch other patrons enjoy the communion of a shared meal. We look forward to our next visit, hopefully soon.
Despite the pandemic they have not lost their consistency. I got all my favorites and they were exactly as I remembered them - absolutely delicious!!
The food and service were amazing! Enjoyed every dish/tapas and dessert! We ate outside, along Ga Ave. under tent...was a bit loud. Would eat indoors next time.
How wonderful it is to be back in the arms of Jose' Andres and his wonderful people. This is the ONLY place we break vegetarian to splurge on aged Iberico ham. I got a little teary eating the liquid olive. xoxoxo
I enjoyed the portion sizes and the affordability. Small portions really go along way. Service was also very nice and efficient
I was in a hurry to catch a train to Baltimore.
The waiter recommended me a great plate (Tuna Salad).
I relieved stress, ate well and got on time.
A busy night at Jaleo last night. Even with our reservation for outside space we had to wait maybe 15 minutes for our table. Hostess brought us each a complementary glass of prosecco that helped ease the pain, and she let us sit at an empty table near the hostess stand while we waited. The semi enclosed (via long canvass curtains) outside area on 7th isn't the greatest - as passing traffic blows the curtains inward and of course is loud in passing. Better, I think to sit at nonenclosed tables on G (F?) Live and learn. Our reservation was for 6:15. By time we left toward 8, there were at least a dozen people in line for outside or in (which was busy to of course). Service was very good considering how slammed they were. As always, the food was inventive and wonderful. Best we had last night was cod/potato fritters, But everything we ordered was great: rabbit, asparagus with romescu, bread with tomato smeer, pan chocalat for dessert. Only complaint is that they were already out of 2 things we tried to order - one was appetizer with olives and something else they were out of. Couldn't understand why they wouldn't just bring us the olives, which they obviously DID have, maybe we should have pressed.
Really enjoyed the red Sangria and each of the small plates ordered. If you have a big enough group, the paella is great as well.
Everything was great at Jaleo's! Faustino was a patient and amazing server and the entire staff did so much to make sure we had what we needed. The tour de espana was a great deal and all of the courses offered something unique and tasty. We really appreciated the attention to detail, ambiance, and tasty food! Can't wait to come back!
Great food, wonderful selection a unique experience, unmatched decor. The Sherry flight was a hit.
The food was good, but not good enough for the price. We got the paella- the rice was perfect but the meat was over cooked and dry, and our shrimp appetizer was rubbery. Great ambience and fantastic service. Was meant to be a fancy date- wouldn’t return for that. Maybe it caters more for tourists now
Jaleo really mastered the comfort despite covid-19 related restriction and partitions. We felt well and safe. And obviously, the G+T (Jose obviously) and food was great! thanks
Great value for high end dining experience. Would highly recommend the spanish tour option
Delicious food, we had a great mother's day celebration.
Came for Morhers day and got the pitcher of Sangria and the paella which turned out to be a great value for all the food we got. I will be back.
Mother’s Day was the best. Great social distance. Paella was excellent. Love Jose
We went to Jaleo after a day of exploring the DC monuments and it was phenomenal
Great food.. amazing experience.. best of all.. super service!
We went at the start of service at 4PM on a Friday. For such a highly rated and awarded (nominated) restaurant with a high cooking pedigree, the food was not up to par. You order a hangar steak and get meat with a little pepper. Nothing else. Chorizo sausage on a bed of mashed potatoes. The patatas bravas needed to be crispier and the aioli just tasted like Mayo. The shrimp tapas didn’t have any flavor. I had a good experience at Oyamel and was expecting something similar or better. Overall, not a great experience. Drinks were good. The Sangria and El Compadre.
This was a last-minute decision which worked out beyond our wildest expectations. Three tired and hungry travelers showed up late for our 8:00pm reservation, and were greeted with a friendly host, patient servers, knowledgeable sommelier, comfy and isolated table, and a non-stop string of INCREDIBLE tapas and wines. The endive and the eggplant were my personal favorites, but among us, we gleefully ate every scrap from..... yes, I believe there were different 19 small plates.
Run, don’t walk. And don’t forget dessert: the brioche ice cream is heavenly.
LOVED the Tour de España!!! Such great food for an unbeatable price. Can’t wait to go again!
Jaleo is one of our favorite places to have lunch or dinner. Only problem is that the noise level, even when not crowded, is high, probably because of the tile floors. But also because the music is turned up pretty high. I think the kitchen was a little off Thursday evening. But it's still an outstanding place to go, and so well located.
Always excellent and reliably so. We had not eaten out in DC in over a year and made Jaleo one of our first stops.
The food was vibrant, delicious, and memorable. All three of us are still thinking about and relishing what we had. The service was courteous, friendly, and prompt while still discreet enough to not interrupt conversations. Just a lovely experience.
Food was terrific - everything!
Our waiter seemed puzzled by our asking for a bottle of wine. Instead he brought one glass though it was obvious there were two people at the table. Same when we ordered a dozen oysters, he brought us six, a single order. The food was up to the usual high standard of Jaleo and it was good being back there after more than a year.
Even if downtown DC seems unnatural and very quiet right now, Jaleo is indeed a bright spot. As usual, food was great, service was excellent and there was close to the usual ambiance by the evening. The flan was even better than usual. We'll be back soon.
Always wonderful experience, from food to service, we will be back many more times
Amazing! Service was excellent and the food and wine as well! The music and ambiance was not what we expected but would definitely go back!
The expanded outdoor table areas are a definite plus. The food was superb as usual.
Excellent food and service, covid friendly set up outdoors
Very friendly, welcoming and professional waiter. Very covid friendly. Food was absolutely delicious. The ambiance outside is better than inside. Would definitely return!
Great dinner. 5 of us. Ate outside. Paella and a bunch of tapas. Fabulous cocktails and service. Order the Compadre! Paella a little salty. Would absolutely come back. Highly recommend.
Our waiter Julian was excellent. We’ll ask for him next time we go back.
Food was excellent! Try the almond soup! Nice outdoor space.
