Excellent service and food as always!
Quiet and relaxing, lots of space between diners, attentive service and every bite of food was delicious. Pan fried oysters and clam chowder were fabulous. Great to return after 18 months!
Wonderful and Special experience for my husband’s birthday.
I had oysters which were very fresh, and Bouillabaisse which was outstanding. It is tomato based rather than saffron/anise (I couldn’t taste either). Great service. A bit noisy.
Food and bar service exemplary, as always. Cosmomimosa delightful! Steelhead dinner and shrimp etouffe absolutely delicious.
Great classic restaurant for a special occasion. Such variety of seafood to select from. Wait staff knowledgable, understated, respectful of space and timing.
Fine, except ordered seafood fettuccine that came in an Alfredo sauce that menu did not specify; pasta itself was mushy.
It was a great experience and I would return to this place.
Once again, superb food and service! Jake’s Crawfish never disappoints! The stuffed Halibut was wonderful! It wasn’t sister and her husband’s first time at Jake’s Crawfish and they loved it! Thank you 🙏
Waiter acted like he was having a bad day and was verging on rude. The food was good
This was our first time at Jake's Famous Crawfish. We are so sad that we hadn't been before. It was amazing. The staff was super friendly and the food was absolutely phenomenal. Can't wait to go back again soon.
We enjoyed our dinner very much. Food and service were wonderful. We were celebrating a birthday and Jake's made it even better.
Food is absolutely delicious
The food was delicious, and so were the drinks! We are locals and haven’t gone in a long time. Pleasantly surprised!
Amazing!! My friends and I met on Memorial Day for an early lunch and wow. It was so good. Monica was our waitress and she was very friendly and provided great service for our table. We each had something different to eat and each had a different cocktail, again, all were great. We will definitely be back. Thanks so much for giving us a great experience:)
I’ve been visiting Jake’s for several years now, and this year’s visit was disappointing. Acknowledging the fact the pandemic still overhangs every public business, Jake’s wasn’t ready - the quality of the food was average and they seemed under staffed. The same great location and setting, but it’s lost something.
The Washington Steelhead is amazing!
We have come to Jake's for the last 9 years to celebrate out daughter's birthday (we even did take-out last year during covid), but this year was different. There was only one server for what seemed like the whole restaurant and so he couldn't be as attentive as one would hope at a nicer place, took forever to get service and have him check on us. We had once drink come with a fly in it, food was just okay. We notified Jake's of our daughter's birthday when we made the reservation, but no one said a single thing to her. Which was disappointing because she was excited about being there. We always order the chocolate purse and of course they no longer carry. Was overall a very disappointing experience.
They had our table request ready but it was so nice they moved us outside. Great service and everything that goes with it. Could not have had a better 60th birthday. Have loved Jake's for 23 years. Cheers
Food good, but Seated in area that was getting no ventilation and so was stuffy and hot
The standard by which we have judged all restaurants for over 30 years.
I ordered the Halibut, stuffed with crabmeat, shrimp and brie. It was good, but not great. The halibut was excellent but I could not really taste crab or shrimp...it may have been simply from a can. Ambience was excellent...I love these old, well established restaurants. Brandon our server was excellent as well. Yes I'll return but probably order something else.
Great historic art, back area fireplace is interesting, back small bar area is worth setting at
Excellent experience with Open table. Jake's was phenomenal as usual!
Love Jake's. Have been enjoying it for over 20 years.
The oysters on the shell were as fresh as they could be; they better be for $40/doz.
The Halibut was awesome; one of us got broiled the other with crab/shrimp stuffing. Not a lot of stuffing, but very good in the buere blanc sauce. The last dish was the disappointment of the night. Two crab/shrimp cakes were slightly over cooked and had more breading than crab. Service satisfactory but not outstanding as we have been used to at Jake's
Jake's is the best. Had another sensational meal. Love the place. Hope to be back soon.
We love this place and it's always amazing for a special occasion. The filet was incredible and the desserts/cocktails were just perfect. Thank you!
Restaurant was a throw back. Lots of wood. Food was outstanding. Service spot on.
We had an amazing experience at Jake’s. The service was excellent, the food phenomenal, and the ambiance sublime. A blast from the past, yet contemporary in menu and clientele. We will be back again.
Excellent restaurant. The Petrale sole was delicious, and they had a good selection of oysters.
The service was outstanding. Food was delicious as always.
Got seated fast but service was bad, had to ask for help.
We can always count on Jake's for great service and wonderful food.
So disappointed with the decision to come here.
I have been cooking professionally for 16 years now, and quality, creativity and details (especially when your charging $35-50 a plate) is important to me. The "seafood specials" mentioned no sides, which excited me because usually that means it's up to the creative mind of the chef. The server was friendly and accommodating, but the first red flag was cold bread, which was good, but it woulda been amazing if it had been thrown in an oven prior. Again, nitpicky, I know, but the bill for this was outrageous, so I don't think it's too much to ask. But the salads and soup to start was when I knew we should have picked another restaurant. A $10 Caesar salad should have a little effort put in, at least in presentation. We got 2 to split for 3 people, small plates of romaine with bagged parmesan cheese and bagged croutons. How do I know it was bagged? Well, the parmesan had that waxy texture and my mom found the corner of the plastic bag of croutons in her salad (at least, that's what I hope it was). I have spent my fair share of time dubiously making homemade croutons, which is was $20 worth of salad deserves. It just wasn't good. My grandpa's tiny cup of soup was watered down (chowder) and flavorless. And he never complains about seasoning.
The entrees were as awful as I thought they would be; my scampi (swimming in a broken sauce) was so salty I almost sent it back, and everyone else had the same issue. I like salt, but this was just too much. Outdated food, clearly previously frozen, and I'm sorry, box-grated carrots is a terrible "garnish". The bill was over $200. I know my mom and uncle got a couple of drinks, but this gave me so much buyers remorse because it was (over) $200 down the drain, when we could have had some much better seafood with quality, local ingredients, and seasonality (it's spring in Portland!!!) in mind. This used to be a family favorite, not anymore.
Friends here from Louisiana !
Wonderful. It was our Covid coming out party/birthday celebration and being greeted by Gayle made our day even more special. Food great. Service excellent. Thank you
Our first indoor dining experience since the pandemic to celebrate a friends birthday. We chose Jake’s because it’s one of our favorite spots. We weren’t disappointed.
Food quality was no where near what Jakes used to be. I understand higher prices for a restaurant to try to survive during this time, but to have such poor quality was surprising. The service was poor. Slow to order, none of the normal experience that Jakes was known for, and lack of knowledge and lack of focus by the server. Server was distracted and forgetful.
The quantity of the meals was also a very poor value vs what it was in the past.
These issues need to be addressed or Jakes will follow some of the other former great restaurants in Portland that have not survived. Like us people want to dine out but the experience at Jakes will be the last time we go there until we hear about better experiences from other people.
Really sad to see and very frustrating as a long time Portland native and frequent diner at Jakes with decades of great meals and experiences at this Portland icon.
