Jake's Famous Crawfish
This has been our "go to" seafood restaurant in Portland for years, predictably very good food and service, good wine list, always feel welcome and not rushed.
Everything was just ok there was not anything that stood out as amazing. We had the 3 appetizer starter and the s shrimp was salty, the calamari unseasoned and the crab dip was pretty good. For dinner the fish was all high quality and cooked well, but we felt it lacked creativity and some flavor. It was all just fine.
Jake’s always knocks it out of the park. It is extraordinary how consistently this landmark has been able to impress across the decades. I will return, again and again.
Another enjoyable dinner at Jake's. We've been eating here for almost 20 years and it has always been wonderful except for a period several years ago where service markedly declined. Our table, a booth as requested, was ready when we arrived. My companion loves the trout, which he had again; we shared a calamari appetizer and I had steamed mussels. The mussels from PEI were small, tender and flavorful. Unfortunately, they were cold when they arrived at the table. The waitress insisted on taking them away and having the kitchen make a second order, which they did promptly. Unfortunately, the second order, although (only) warm on arrival quickly cooled off. If the bowl would have been heated it would have kept the mussels warm. Their portions are very large and easily lend themselves to sharing, if desired. Waitress was excellent.
Jake's is our favorite celebration spot. The crab and shrimp stuffed bacon wrapped prawns are exceptional, as is everything we eat here. Thanks for another great experience!
Took my grandson to dinner prior to a show at the Keller. He loves seafood so Jake's was my first pick. We both had boulibassise, loved it. Waiter was great too.
Both the crab cakes and battered fish we ordered were slightly over cooked. The food was still good. The vegetables were very nice. The wine is overpriced, but the selection is very good. The service was excellent. I suspect the experience with the food would be excellent If I had more experience with the menu selections. It was our first time.
Server was wonderful. Jake’s never disappoints!
Food was very mediocre and prices are way too much for the food.
The first thing that impressed me was the host's attention to detail: We got one gluten-free menu and three regular menus, consistent with the likely needs of our group, given I specified my dietary requirements through OpenTable. The service was generally prompt. The food was spectacularly delicious (that steak was a perfect medium, edge to edge, excluding sear...was it sous vide?), and my only disappointment was that the portion wasn't 4 times bigger! Looking at the meals of other patrons, I was stuck by the elegance of the culinary presentation.
The food and service are reliably wonderful! Our only complaint was the wood booth seats - we were in the back corner and they were nearly impossible to move in and out of as they're not movable and too close to the table which seams too high. They need cushions and a little more space - next time I'll request a table with chairs. We had the special crab leg sauté - and it could have been one of the best meals ever!
Love the Food, Service and Atmosphere. Jake’s is a MUST when eating in Portland!
Always great. Love their fried oysters. House salad great. Steelhead terrific. Always a great place with old Portland charm.
Great food and company
The waitress was especially good. We asked for a knife so could split the pies we ordered so we each got to taste both of them. Instead she brought us perfectly cut and displayed half pieces so it looked just like one piece of pie for each of us. Lovely to look at and tasty too!
Love Jakes! Such a fun place to have a celebration, or just a super fun date night. Has a real old Portland vibe. The bar is so pretty, and they have a wonderful happy hour.
I took my two daughters here for one of their birthdays. It was fantastic. Definitely get the Crab Bisque.
We always enjoy a great meal at Jake's. We have been going for years and it is always a great experience. It is one of our favorites in the downtown area and would recommend it to all that enjoy good food and appreciate good service.
New Year’s Eve
Amazing food incredible service a little loud and crazy however it was NYE. Apparently the house ran out of ice so took a while to get our drinks. All in all great place
This has been a favorite place for many years.
The service is always great. And the food is not matched in Portland.
A great place to celebrate any event.
Food and service were amazing! A bit pricey for an everyday meal, but okay for a special occasion.
Jake's never disappoints. We always go to Jake's for special occasions. The food is impeccable; the ambiance is lovely. The service is the best we have experienced. The range of excellent seafood (and other) options is amazing. It is normally fairly quiet, but since we were there on New Year's Eve, it was bustling.
As usual, the food and service was great. My wife and I both had Crab Louise, which are hard to find outside of SF. The crab and salad were awesome. The only complaint is that they serve whipped butter, so just ask for real butter and they will deliver it to your table.
Probably the best seafood restaurant in Portland, better food than at McCormick and Schmick’s seafood restaurant on the bank of the Willamette River.
Great Service with Langdon. Loved the Crab cake appetizer. He was very professional and kind
Every member of our party of 5 was delighted with their entrees and the appetizers we ordered. We especially loved the popcorn crawfish tails. The menu has a wide variety of fresh, we’ll-prepared seafood served in a retro “fancy” atmosphere that is actually quite comfortable with a casual, friendly feel. The wait staff was attentive and professional without being stiff and stuffy...they were actually friendly. It was a lovely place for an anniversary celebration with a touch of classic Portland history. We would definitely go back, and highly recommend to others.
Service was sub par, we take family and friends here when they are in town and usually have fantastic service... very disappointing on this occasion.
Great time. Great service. We enjoyed every minute of the dining experience.
Sometimes you just want awesome fresh seafood in Portland, that being the case then there's no better place to visit than Jakes's Famous Crawfish. The dining experience never fails to impress. I just had a monster lobster there and every bite was heaven!
Great experience from start to finish. When I booked with Open Table, I mentioned it was my daughter’s birthday. She was greeted with “happy birthday” when we walked in and told them our name. We were a couple of minutes early and seated immediately. To her surprise, our menus were printed with a birthday greeting that included her name and age. Our server was top notch as usual - informative, friendly, without overdoing it. The food was cooked to perfection, and although it was a busy night, we never felt rushed. We continue to dine here not just for the fresh seafood and classic menu, but also for the service and ambience. Jake’s, even though it’s is now owned by Landry’s, is a Portland gem.
Server was outstanding. Food, as always was fresh and excellent.
Had a great time!
If you can’t appreciate Jake’s, I don’t have time for you. It is my favorite way to spend a Winter evening, you cannot go wrong on the menu, it feels...like home.
Took a very long time for orders to arrive. From drinks to dinner. Waitress was stretched very thin.
Good experience as always
good seafood but too much rich sauce. potato and rice dishes were weak, obviously premade and sitting in a pot-potatoes soft and rice sticky. Smoked trout was very tasty, salad too.
Always consistently delicious seafood and impeccable service.
Wonderful Christmas dinner! Our favorite restaurant in Portland. The crab leg saute is so good that it is hard for me to order anything else.
