Jack Stack Barbecue originated in Kansas City in 1957, by Russ Fiorella in a traditional storefront barbecue, with a modest selection of 5 or 6 items. Jack Fiorella, the eldest son, worked with his father until 1974 when he decided to branch off and start Fiorella's Jack Stack of Martin City.

To stand out in the competitive KC barbecue scene of the mid 1970's, Jack and Delores, began cooking with Gourmet Hickory Wood and created the most extensive barbecue menu in the country. The menu included Certified Angus Beef steaks, tender chicken, award-winning lamb ribs, and mouth-watering sides like Hickory Pit Beans and Cheesy Corn Bake.

I frequently travel to Kansas City for work, and every single visit I have dinner at Jack Stack! The food is consistently delicious and the service is always top notch!

Such a wonderful Easter celebration at Jack Stack Freighthouse! I requested a seating accommodation for my husband who is a wheelchair user. The perfect table was all ready for him when we arrived! The food was delicious, and our server was AMAZING! We will definitely be going back!

Great service and the best bbq in KC! Always a favorite. The freight house is my preferred location as well. The spicy Russ and the beans are so good. Great cocktails as well.

Food is always good!! I love the carrot cake! We were hosting a vendor from Montana and I recommended the lamb ribs…”best ribs he has ever” had was his comment!!

Friends were visiting from TX and wanted to sample everything. We ordered The Taste of Kansas City for four and still have leftovers! I’ve never thought of doing that before when I’ve taken out-of-state guests, but it’s definitely the way to go. Very delicious! Also, I’m in a motorized chair, and with the exception of no one stationed to open the front door, it was totally wheelchair accessible.

I host business dinners at this location every month or so. Tonite was exceptionally good. I asked our server about their steaks thinking of having something instead of bbq. Server recommended the filet. It was outstanding, flavorful and cooked perfectly Others at our table got ribs that they enjoyed. We started off with our usual jalapeño cornbread and fire kissed wings. Excellent as always. And I highly recommend the spinach salad. And of course, top it all off with a carrot cake dessert to share.
